Mildly Stressful Wednesday
Apr. 10th, 2019 10:33 pmAs in, the day as a whole was not bad, but there were plenty of little moments that just got under my skin and made me annoyed with the world. Such as some nasty traffic on the commute into work; trying to juggle various little tasks at work (namely phoning people and getting some reversals sorted); getting blocked in temporarily when I left work (some idiot parked their truck basically right in front of the entrance/exit); and Dad's computer auto-updating on him, which annoyed the both of us as he gets pissed and I agreed with him that it shouldn't just DO that -- there should always be an ask or a warning or whatnot. *sigh*
On the plus side:
-->Outlook on my computer works again! I too had a (properly warned for) update last night, and this morning it finally snapped out of its "stuck" state in the app. No more having to open Chrome to check my mail, at least for the time being!
-->I did get all the reversals done, and cleared out some more of those exceptions at work, so that was nice.
-->Edited the first section of Chapter 18 of "Fixing You" -- I figured, I'd spare myself some of the marathon tomorrow and split it up over multiple days, as it's the last chapter and 20 pages. Got through the actual Victor/Alice wedding -- not quite halfway, but close enough. :) I'll finish off the rest of it tomorrow and get it posted then!
-->Watched a few fun videos:
A) Two videos, one from the Sim Supply and one from Deligracy (which had James on it as well), talking about yesterday's "Maxis Monthly" stream and the upcoming Sims 4 patch, which apparently has a new "Freelancer" career option (you can be an artist, writer, or programmer, and select "gigs" like you do in acting -- it looks pretty neat, and I might have Alice switch to "Freelance Artist" after she completes the career proper); some new clothes and objects to go with it (including new laptops, yay); and -- the thing the builders were most excited about -- a plain white shelf! James even played the part where the Gurus admitted it was him talking to Lyndsay (their boss) about it that got that to happen. He was all about saying it was all thanks to the community that we got this new shelf color, but dude, I think we know it was all you. You're basically THE GameChanger for Sims 4 now, I think. Also, it's Deli's birthday today, so happy birthday, Deli! Maybe next year they'll give you that plain white door you were begging for!
B) A video from Helloween about Easy Modes and accessibility options in games -- basically, he's for them, in the interest of making the games he feels are awesome available to more people. Apparently there is a lot of debate on this lately, and -- well, if I didn't have Easy difficulty for some of my games, I never would have gotten through them (Jabberwock boss fight from AMA, I'm looking at you), and while I'm not hearing-impaired in any way, I appreciate subtitles because I can find it hard to follow dialogue sometimes. So yeah, let's have easy mode and stuff like that in games. (If you must give the easy mode a mocking name, then fine, but still. *frowns at the Doom and Wolfenstein series in general, among others*)
C) And the next set of Dead Space 2's Replay from Hells -- featuring lots of corpse molestation, a trip inside a zero-G trash compactor (turned off, of course, though Helloween refused to go inside the actual mechanism -- he did throw a couple of bodies into it), an Alice: Madness Returns shout-out (he started paraphrasing Dormy's annoying little earworm at one point), killing loads of necromorph children, a trip through a Unitology recruiting center (with many, many examples of why being a Unitologist is not a good career path), and sending a body to Partyhalla (aka Helloween stuck it between the doors of an elevator, pressed the button, and watched as the ragdoll physics went absolutely MENTAL on the trapped corpse XD Still not QUITE as wild as F.E.A.R., but pretty damn close -- especially since she kept rattling around in the vents for some time afterward!). Also explosions ripping Isaac into pieces because Helloween shot the balloon animals when they were too close/mislaunched a balloon animal's balloon. He is already quite accepting of his fate in these instances. XD Good stuff, truly.
Okay -- time to clear out the last of the comments and go to bed. Slowly but surely working my way through the week. . . Night all!
