Yeah, Providence had a Pride parade and general celebration today -- the main hub was away from the mall, but I saw a lot of mall-goers with rainbow flag capes, and rainbow makeup, and rainbow shirts. I even saw two dogs wearing pride bandanas when I was leaving the mall -- a white husky and a corgi! It was very cute. :) And made me happy for silly fanfic reasons -- I felt like I got to see real-life versions of Bayard and Lightning, the Forgotten Vows and Secundus Victors' dogs respectively. XD
I myself went a little rainbow today, though in a less obvious manner -- I was wondering what to wear for my trip while getting dressed this morning, and happened to spot my Marty McFly Jr. 2015 cap sitting on my toy Einstein's head. I got it from Newbury's a while back, and don't usually wear it because, well, it's kind of impossible to clean -- but I figured it would be a good fit for today. And then I decided, well, I might as well go FULL BTTF and wore one of my BTTF T-Shirts and one of my Doc/Marty sock pairs. XD Though I'd accidentally paired the Part I Marty with the Part II Doc. . .ah well, they're supposed to be a bit mix-and-match.
The trip itself went very well:
-->Went to DSW and, after some wandering though the Clearance section, the Women's Fitness section, and the Woman's Sandals section, found the shoes I wanted. Got new sneakers -- black Adias with memory foam inside, SO comfy -- and new sandals -- another pair of brown as I could NOT find white ones without that damn strap that goes between your big and middle toes (they tend to give me blisters). Both together cost me a good 100 bucks, but you know what? If they last and they feel good? Worth.
-->Took a stroll around Newbury's and FINALLY found something to use part of my gift card on -- new socks! Specifically, they had a Pride section, and in that section were Pride-themed socks. Not just rainbow either -- a bunch of different flag options. Including -- ace. I was initially unsure if I should get a pair (simply because I have a LOT of socks), but eventually I went back and got them. I wanted to do SOMETHING in honor of the day besides wear my hat, and I identify as being part of the asexual spectrum, so. . . Helps that the flag happens contain one of my favorite colors, purple. :)
-->Got lunch at the food court -- a Chicken Californian sandwich and strawberry lemonade from Charley's, om nom. They make good sandwiches for a good price -- and their fries are tasty enough to not need ketchup (which is good, as I forgot to get some before going off to find a table -- in my defense, I was working to juggle my DSW bag and the one I brought in the vain hope I could carry my shoes in THAT. My solution ended up being putting my butterfly bag in the DSW bag, as that was the bigger one). And I still love their lemonades with real fruit. Delicious. :D Later, I got a shake from the Hershey's Shake Shop place -- Better Brownie Batter with whipped cream and a chocolate drizzle. The goood stuff, let me tell you. :D I haven't had a milkshake in a while, so that was a nice treat to have.
-->Hit Dave & Buster's -- they've rearranged their game layout yet again. Fortunately I was able to find all my favorites in the end. Did REALLY well in Doodle Jump this time -- not QUITE all the way to the top, but within spitting distance! Plus I had a few fun rounds in Rampage and Dirty Driving. :) Finally inching to the point where I'll have to spend my own money to add chips to my card, but I've got enough for one more go-round, I think.
-->Swung by CVS and got a card, little gift bag, and tissue paper for Father's Day. Am now completely prepared for that tomorrow, go me. :)
So yeah, accomplished everything I wanted to there! And the rest of my day went well too:
-->Weather was just generally nice, barring some gusty moments -- very pleasant day to get out and about!
-->Played some Fallout 4 -- I, um, have still not cleared Preston's next quest regarding settlers and raiders, nor advanced the plot. ^^; The problem is, I got to looting various areas, then decided I needed to do something with all this crap Preston and I were carrying, so we went back to the Abernathy Farm, where I built them some defenses and fixed up some of their fences; THEN I figured if I was doing that, I might as well help out the two settlers at Tenpines Bluff and went and got them a guard post, a generator, and an electric trap (which, um, badly backfired when I finally DID manage to get it hooked up to the generator -- turns out that thing will just GO when you attach a wire to it, and I ended up shocking both myself and an innocent caravan cow). And then I went back to the drive-in theater to catch up on some zzzs, then Preston and I explored Lexington a bit more, and I FINALLY got us back to the Assembly Plant, which we are current parked outside of. So basically my last couple of play sessions have resulted in us going in one big loop. Next time, I SWEAR we're going to talk to those settlers. And then shoot us some raiders. (Preston's actually also given me ANOTHER quest after I tried to make conversation with him -- to clear out hostiles from a potential settlement area -- but I'm like "Preston, I have to go find my son at SOME point." Also, things learned -- Preston is kind of a terrible shot and will blow up all the things if there are things to blow up. He will also just start shooting at big old deer that weren't doing anything to bother us but now we have to kill them because they could probably bring the pain. I kind of want my dog back.)
-->Watched some Bloodlines 2-related videos -- both the short and long gameplay trailers, Outstar's analysis of the longer gameplay trailer (she's excited and happily theorized about how our sire could be changeable given we pick our own clan later on, and made note of some of the more obvious Bloodlines references, like the awful dancing in the club -- she also said that there were a lot of technical glitches she noticed, but that was for a separate video), and Gamespot playing through the demo quest available at E3 (finding a Nosferatu Thinblood named Slugg and retrieving some data for what seems to be a Tremere lady -- the local Nossies are also interested in Slugg being brought to them because he is one of theirs. You have to first find out how to GET to Slugg, who is hiding among the homeless and has a drug-runner's operation between you and him; and then deal with Slugg himself in a variety of ways. The Gamespot player fought through the drug-runners, but dealt with Slugg kindly, paying him fairly for his information and just letting him go. And then not giving said information to the Tremere lady for -- reasons I don't know yet). All pretty good stuff, in my opinion. The animations aren't very refined yet, which people seem fairly nervous about, but I'm still hopeful they'll put out a good product. The locations look very nice, at least. I still have to watch the IGN gameplay video (slightly longer than the Gamespot one, and apparently the person playing it wasn't -- the greatest. . .) and Outstar's reaction to that, but all in good time.
-->Fixed my BTTF magazine binder display when it fell off the shelf it was on. Yes, that's not exactly a good thing, but I'm very grateful it didn't completely wreck the Minimates that were in front of it! Just knocked a few over, and I was able to easily put them back into place. I've got it stuck much more firmly against the wall now (plus removed a few magazines from the back to decrease the weight), so hopefully that'll not happen again.
-->Got another chunk written on "Londerland Bloodlines" -- finishing up the whole "Alice decides to give Victor more of her blood" snippet that I was working on last week. Again, it's kind of a twisted romance in this verse, but -- well, Victor and Alice at least TALK about the downsides of Alice blood-bonding him, so they're not going into this blind. And it is kind of sweet to see them want to be together this badly. (I mean, again, I've got a thing for mind control fics, so what's sweet to me is sometimes not sweet to anyone else, but still.) Plus it starts the set-up for the later full Vemilicia portion of the AU, so that was nice.
-->Also got another one of the "revised Gigs Gifts" up on in "Scenes From Secundus" -- Greeting The Newest Van Dort. Yes, Lightning's now been edited into earlier chapters, but this is still an important milestone for his introduction into the verse. Plus the title still lets me be a troll to newer readers. :p
-->And I sorted out my Victor Luvs Alice queue for the next few days, and I'm currently doing the RP thing on Valice Multiverse, so that's something. Still gotta get to the stuff in my inbox, which I'm doing now.
Whoof -- productive day, but long! I am le tired. Fortunately tomorrow's likely to be a rather low-key Father's Day, and a bit rainy besides, so I can definitely sleep in and chill out. Switching gears to a Sims focus tomorrow -- gotta keep my buffer going so I have at least one extra week's worth of updates after the patch breaks everything yet again! Just in case, you know? But yeah, that's the plan for Sunday -- we'll see how it goes! Night all!
