While one of the pleasures of a short day is that you can go home earlier, one of the problems with them is there's less time to get your work DONE -- and I was definitely feeling that today. The requests on my time seemed downright never-ending! So many forwarded e-mails. . . I didn't leave in the best of moods. At least the drive home was quick.
Speaking of drive -- Mom bought a new car today! Which took me completely by surprise, as -- well, I didn't expect that to happen this afternoon. we HAVE been looking into new cars, as our current set are getting old (particularly the car I drive to work, which has a growing host of problems), but I expected the process of getting replacements to take longer. O.o And -- it is, sort of, if only because we don't have the actual car yet -- it's coming from the dealership next week. But yeah, Mom's got herself a new ride. I'm going to have to follow sooner or later this summer. . .if I can find a good place to look, anyway. Once Mom's car arrives, I might test it out and see if I want something similar (or possibly exactly the same). And then it's just a matter of finding where I can get it. . .
Anyway, after they got back and Mom went to work, my afternoon went roughly like so:
-->In keeping with my new Summer Gaming Schedule (tm), played some Fallout 4! Victor nearly got torn to pieces in a surprise ghoul attack in a place called The Fens. >( On the plus side, it provided the excuse I needed to eat some super-food that increased my carrying capacity, so I could loot more. At any rate, we reached the old clothing store where the raiders that were harassing Oberland Station were camping out and cleared them out. . .but in the process, I picked up a radio signal and got myself another sidequest -- "Curtain Call," a cry for help from a guy named Rex, trapped in a tower by Super Mutants. Since the sidequest was actually pretty damn close, I decided to go ahead and check it out.
Aaaand nearly got Victor mauled by a super-mutant dog. *facepalm* Fortunately I managed to kill it, and the two super-mutants inside the lower part of the tower. I'm currently sitting by the elevators waiting to go up to the quest goal, having stored a bunch of gear in a "meat bag" (it is exactly as gross as it sounds). Victor did level up during all this, so I chose the "Medic" perk to get his healing sorted out a bit better. I also made notes on his current stats and gear, so I could keep my document on all this better updated. Slowly inching my way toward the main plot, if only because I'm close to Diamond City -- once I finish these two sidequests, I'm going there, XP be damned. :p
-->Did a workout -- inside, because it was either raining or sunny and SUPER humid all day today. w00f. But hey, I got some exercise in, so that's the important thing.
-->Watched a couple of videos -- CallMeKevin playing the very weird Simpsons game (which is apparently super-meta as the family finds the game inside their own game, but Kevin was too busy being confused by everything -- like the bullies from the show robbing a museum with literal ray guns -- to appreciate this. I don't blame him); and KubzScouts playing some free random games (two fairly low-budget crappy horror titles, one rather amusing battle against dust bunnies, and one weird game using YanSim graphics to tell the story of a girl who breaks into a school to get a floppy disk from the headmaster's office while trying desperately to avoid another girl randomly stalking the place with a frying pan. Don't ask me.). I also watched part of the day's "Maxis Monthly" livestream from The Sims 4 team -- apparently there's some rebranding going on now that the game is 5 years old, and they've basically added a potential "personality quiz" to CAS in case you want to have the game decide on an aspiration and traits for your Sim. Good if you're going for some sort of truly random Simmage, I guess, but I'd like it a lot more if this "CAS Stories" thing was about choosing likes and dislikes and all that for your Sims. Also, my mod plans must be put on hold as the next patch is apparently next Tuesday. *sigh* Reasons why I have so far kept my game mod-light, people.
-->Got my Valice queue done for the evening, which was good. Still have to figure out what I'm doing for the 100 Drabbles of Summer for Secundus Sunday for my main queue, though. . .
-->And, uh, answered this incredibly nice (three-part) ask on Victor Luvs Alice. I really didn't ever expect to get messages like this when I started writing this stuff, that's for sure. But I'm honestly touched that people love my stories that much. Hopefully I can keep wowing everyone!
And I just finished some cake and ice cream (we ended up waiting on that until Mom got home from work), so that was nice. Now I have to scurry over and do the Friday Night Writing thing. Still don't know what's happening tomorrow, but we'll figure something out, I'm sure. And even if we don't -- I have Bloodlines and plenty of stuff in my "Watch Later" queue. I'll be fine. Night all!
