Rain Rain GO AWAY
Jul. 22nd, 2019 11:01 pmOr, rather, all the THUNDERSTORMS we've been having all evening can take a hike. I actually ended up turning off my computer for a good chunk of the evening because the lightning outside was so intense! Just -- big, bright flashes everywhere! Rather nerve-wracking. And frustrating, since I was hoping to take a chunk out of my Watch Later queue. . .well, at least I noted down the mods I was most intrigued by in Plumbella's video. And watched one thing waiting for me -- Deligracy and The Sim Supply playing SimTown! Or, rather, Deligracy playing SimTown while James watched and complained that he wanted a turn. And then having his turn cut short when he DID get to play at the end of the video (he built ONE road and a couple of houses, and ended up bulldozing most of it). XD SimTown was my first Sim-game, and apparently Deli's too. Great to see the old expanse of horrible mud brown you could build on again, and the different little houses and buildings you could stamp down (ranging from semi-realistic to completely ridiculous), and what was probably everyone's first experience with a form of CAS (which happens to involve choosing your Sims likes, which we don't even get in Sims 4 -- yes, the game DOES deserve to be dragged for that! I shouldn't have to consider mods to get that functionality!). And oh cripes, all the stupid sound effects XD James pretended to react badly whenever the game honked at Deli a lot while she was placing grass -- to the point of shaking his headphones off. XD Hell of a nostalgia trip -- and kind of makes me wonder if anyone could build a rough approximation of some of the SimTown buildings in Sims 4. (Not me, of course. . .though I do have an extra day off coming up this weekend. . .)
Other than that, it's been a pretty standard Monday:
-->Took the new car to and from work. Still getting used to everything -- I mean, I can drive it, and drive it pretty well, I think, but the pedals still feel weird, and everything feels taller than it should, and I'm not crazy about having to look through the steering wheel to see my speed. It works, and I can certainly use it to get where I need to go, but -- I'm gonna need some more time to adjust.
-->Did one of the 15-minute indoors workouts -- I wanted to go outside, but then it rained at lunch at work, and we had the threat of thunderstorms after work (fortunately they didn't materialize until AFTER I had my shower). New one that had some new moves -- definitely worked up a sweat! Though maybe that was partly lingering humidity. . .
-->Wrote another chunk on "Secundus 2" -- the gang encountered some trouble getting into the festival, mostly because you have to check your guns, but Richard's got one built into his HAND. . .fortunately Marshall Strickland showed up and saved the day, giving him a pass (after inspecting the weapon in question, of course). Next up is the clock dedication, then Jennifer and Clara are gonna rejoin the group and we'll have some sweet funtimes before two Tannens show up to ruin it all.
-->Got the first post of my Newcrest Adventures Wednesday update on tumblr sorted -- it's a three-poster this week, though the third post only has five pictures. *shrug* Mostly just cute domestic stuff featuring Voidcritters and other kidlet stuff. I feel like I should get some Voidcritters DLC for Douglas, since Marlene has a whole fan-made stuff pack to play around with. . . Man, when did I become all about potentially stuffing my game full of custom content? But there's just so much cool stuff out there. . .
And that's about it -- again, thanks to thunderstorms. Fortunately, I think the last of them have genuinely cleared out at last, though the rain's supposed to linger through tomorrow, possibly into Wednesday morning. But then we get a stretch of actually-halfway-decent weather, so that's good! Looking forward to it, especially since my aunt's hosting a cookout on Saturday for us. . .
But that's the weekend. Still got four days this week! So with that in mind, and my comments already answered, I'd better head to bed. Night all!
