New CD Player Thursday
Aug. 1st, 2019 11:00 pmYeah, my old one conked out the other night -- I'm not sure WHAT happened, but there was a terrible noise right in the middle of a song on my Corpse Bride CD, and the music just stopped. And then, whenever I tried to put a CD in it, it would just flash for a bit, then display "No" like it couldn't read it. Happened with multiple CDs, so I know it was the player, not the CDs. I managed to get by last night by finding a classic music station on the radio bit of it (THAT still worked). I'd expected to have to go out this weekend to find a replacement, but when I told my mom what had happened this evening, she said that she and Dad could stop by Target and pick up a new one as they were going out anyway (the INTENT was to get ice cream, but all the sales on non-store brands start up tomorrow, and there was apparently NOTHING left of the store brand). Came back with a different model by the same company -- I popped my Corpse Bride CD in to test, and so far it's playing fine. Here's hoping it keeps doing so for a while!
As for the rest of my day. . .
-->Work was fairly quiet, which I appreciated. Just getting some stuff done on the returns and helping out my coworkers. Also got out for a walk at lunch -- it was less sticky today, so I could do a PROPER walk without worrying about heat exhaustion. Though it did get pretty hot -- air conditioners are still running in this household. Might be a little cooler and drier this weekend, though -- we'll see! At least I got outside for a bit. . .
-->Edited the Fixxler chapter of "A Wedding, A Wedding" so I'll have it ready to go for next Friday -- came together pretty nicely, in the end. Some cute scenes of Fixxler showing Victor and Alice some magic, and them acknowledging each other as friends. And Fixxler offering up "hey, you want to go Downstairs and actually MEET your family for a wedding present" and getting tackle-hugged. XD The dual themes of magic and friendship FINALLY led me to a title, too: "And Magic Makes It All Complete," a line from the My Little Pony: Friendship Is Magic theme song! . . .Look, I was REALLY struggling with this damn title, I'll take what I can get.
-->Watched a couple of Deli videos, starting with the last part of the "Abandoned House Ugly To Beautiful Fixxer-Upper" thing she did. Somehow, she managed to actually have money left over after completing the two bedrooms, the master bath, and the back garden! *applause* And the house came out very cute too -- it looks like a nice place for a small family. She did a good job of renovating it. Again, I am continually amazed by people who can actually BUILD in Sims. . .
And then I followed that up with her trying to create an evil Sim with a painting dungeon where she would imprison neighbors, force them to paint, and then sell the results to become rich. XD I say "trying" because -- well, she got an Evil Sim, all right -- cruel granny Ethel, who hides her evil behind a sweet facade. But when she started trapping Sims in the basement, none of them would paint (except Nancy Landgraab, once). Deli tried making a painting club, tried imprisoning them all in their own easel cells, all of that -- nothing doing. The prisoners just spent all their time on their phones. Deli eventually got frustrated and drowned them all (except one guy whom she accidentally released when she deleted his cell trying to delete the easel inside). Very goofy little video -- and full of Call Me Kevin fans in the comments, as she mentioned being inspired by someone else to try this, and Jim Pickens has been known to keep painting slaves. :p
-->And then it was time to fix up the Valice Multiverse queue -- few asks and a thread, so nothing horrible. I will take it.
And now it is time for me to answer what's left in the inbox, and hit the sheets -- half day tomorrow, but it's also my cleaning weekend, so I'm gonna have to devote some time to dusting and vacuuming and all that jazz. Should still have time for Fallout 4, though! Gotta get in a good place to finally clean up some of these Minutemen quests so I can get back to the damn plot. . . Night all!
