Fallout Sunday
Sep. 29th, 2019 11:20 pmYeah, circumstances led to me only playing one game today, and I decided that, after checking to make sure Steam was back up, it was going to be Fallout 4. After all, thanks to my text post shenanigans last week, I do have a small buffer to get me through this week's Newcrest Adventures (starting to get those photos set now), and I do want to keep up on my adventures in the Wasteland. And I just couldn't fit in a second game with both watching the Hitman 2 OXBox livestream and taking a walk before it got too buggy. . . Such is life.
Anyway, pretty decent session of Fallout 4 -- my goal was to complete the kidnapping sidequest I started last time, and that's what I did! Also saved a random settler in Cambridge from a small raider attack, and got the chance to send him to one of my own settlements -- I sent him to the Castle, since I needed someone there to help take care of food. Also killed a group of Super Mutants fighting feral ghouls, and another raider enclave -- tried to sneak AROUND the latter, but there were just too many of them itching for a fight. At least this means the Commonwealth is a LITTLE bit safer, I suppose. . . Anyway, saved the wife, took three tries to kill a Legendary raider right outside the door we escaped through (but got a nifty cryo-gun out of the deal when I did kill him!), reunited the happy couple, then went to the Castle to check on the settler. Found a bunch more Minutemen there, to my surprise -- fortunately I'd picked up some crops on my travels, so I was able to expand their little garden, and build them a new water purifier so they'd have plenty to drink. And the person I need to talk to for the next Minuteman quest is sitting there too. . . *sigh* I might just go ahead and do that, since it all seems to take place in the Castle, and thus should hopefully be fairly quick to complete. Then it's back to Sanctuary, report to Preston to turn in a bunch of these and get the final burst of XP, then OFF TO DIAMOND CITY. I swear, it is SO easy to lose track of the plot in this game. . .
The rest of my day can be summed up as follows:
-->Watched that Hitman 2 Livestream -- Mike was apparently away in Madrid at the time, but fortunately, we had the only man who craves more chaos in these games than he does sitting in for him, good old Luke! XD Add in that they were playing on Mike's account so they could use the homing briefcase, and is it any wonder that Andy ended up killing a bunch of people unnecessarily by shoving them down a laundry chute? And axe-murdering one of his targets? XD Absolutely delightful -- though, unfortunately, it got really laggy for a while in the middle. Dunno what happened, but it was hard to watch there for a bit! :( But at least it wasn't lagging during the two best bits at the beginning and end:
A) Homing Briefcase vs Man On Jetski -- I swear, you have to see this nonsense to believe it. If you throw the homing briefcase at just the right time when a certain guy gets on a jetski, the damn thing will follow him around while he's zipping around on it. It's just -- it's beautiful in its complete and utter lunacy. XD
B) The OXBox/OXTra team learning that there's a secret buried treasure in the level and going to get it -- while taking the time to steal an old sea captain's garb because Jane REALLY wanted to wear the hat. XD And then the treasure included an old pirate sword, so they went on a saber rampage to end out the livestream. XD I love these guys.
Bonus: The possibility of them doing a V:tM oneshot with their D&D guy is on the table! Apparently Jane and Mike are big Bloodlines fans, and with the sequel coming out next year. . . I really hope they do it. I'd clear my calendar to watch it. :D
-->Watched a bunch of other YouTube videos, including:
A) RT Gamer being a horrible goose in Untitled Goose Game, which is all about being a horrible goose, but RT was MORE horrible than normal (making it his mission to harass a small child XD)
B) Call Me Kevin going on more Minecraft adventures (this time taking on an End City, which led to some arrows in the eyes but also the acquisition of treasure, soooo) and trying to paint a portrait of Jim Pickens (it turned out. . .poorly)
C) GrayStillPlays subjecting his favorite Sims 4 family to life with 18 copies of their family cat, Spleens, plus potential mate Tonsils, when he's made them all hate animals. The resultant video was mostly hilarious commentary on how his Sims just WILL NOT take care of themselves and are apparently actively seeking death at this point. XD
D) The next part of James's "Rags To Witches" Let's Play -- Column has gotten herself cursed with occasional hideousness and green skin. James is -- totally here for it! XD Yeah, since he's playing her as an evil witch, he thinks the look suits her perfectly and is actually kind of sad it's a periodic thing instead of a permanent change. XD She's also still doing all right in the "street potion" business -- which is good, as the bills are starting to come due. XD Plahn Tayne is doing all right too, magically -- she's snagged a dragon familiar, Slagon, from the Magic HQ, and tried her hand at dueling! She -- uh, lost badly, but it's the thought that counts. XD
E) Plumbella touring some gorgeous Harry Potter builds, including a SUPER-intricate Hogwarts (I mean, so much detail, Plumbella was forgetting words) and a cute little version of Hagrid's hut! And as she had to put them both on the Windenberg island, there was some brief talk of turning it into a HP world -- then she came to her senses and remember Windenberg's easily the BIGGEST world, so -- yeah, probably a MITE too much work. XD
F) A couple of videos on Sim mods -- one detailing parts of an update to "Slice of Life" (updated period and drunk buffs, updated sicknesses, all of that -- I remain thoroughly impressed by this mod and do hope to eventually install it in my game); one showing off Realm of Magic mods (and one new CAS background, which -- really? But I do like that people are trying to make familiars more interactive -- Sims can talk to them now, and one mod even has them give you gifts! So that's sweet).
-->Got roughly another page done on "Secundus 2" -- Victor's finally had his little moment of storming into the bedroom after hearing Alice scream to demand what's going on -- then seeing what's going on and fainting. XD Picking up when he wakes up tomorrow, after all the excitement is over with. In the home stretch here! Should finish up this week, barring misadventure. :)
And yeah, that's about it. Been a fairly low-key day -- I even ate supper on my own in my room since Dad filled up while watching the afternoon Pats game. Can't say I minded, given I'd rather watch James Turner than football. :P But now it's time to head to bed -- full week of work starting tomorrow! We'll see what it's like. Just have to remember -- I get through this one and the next one, and then every other week is a short week straight through November. Something to look forward to! :p But right now, time to look forward to sleep. Night all!
