Better But Busier Sunday
Mar. 8th, 2020 11:26 pmFelt like I had a little more fun today than yesterday, thanks to avoiding stressful video game fights, but there was definitely more to juggle, especially pre-supper! To whit:
-->Started off the day with my smoothie, then we all went out bowling! We all did pretty well too -- everybody got multiple strikes and spares, and we all broke 100 in a game at least once. I had a couple of kind of bad games, but I only rolled like two complete gutterballs, so I will take that! Keeping it as a roughly once-a-month outing seems to be working well for us. :p
-->Got home, had lunch, messed around for a bit on the computer (also FINALLY upgraded MC Command Center to the latest version), and then played Sims 4! Actually had the McFly family DO things in their somewhat-upgraded house -- Marlene worked on her Creativity in the new playroom; Douglas had a friend over and did some Voidcritter trading; Marty released a new track, got a promotion in his job, and licensed a song; and Jennifer painted, did laundry, and attended a gathering of the Renegades over at Bathe De Rill, where she proceeded to buy the "Fitness Skill Increase" club perk (because, well, it's a public pool). Tomorrow (in-game) is New Skill Day, so I'll have to make sure they all get a new skill of some sort -- and also the Starlight Accolades! Marty will have to attend and see if he wins anything. :)
-->Watched one video that came up in my recommendeds a lot -- a computer voice reading out a selection of reddit comments from a thread about the worst things you've done to your Sims. People have been very -- CREATIVE in their Sim torture, I have to say. Lot of basement murders and whatnot. XD Call Me Kevin and Gray Still Plays would be proud. XD
-->Decided I really ought to make my muffins for breakfast sooner rather than later and set on that -- took some time, but I managed to get them done around the same time supper (pork chops) got done, so that did more or less work out! Did throw off my usual schedule for writing and taking a shower, though -- though that was also because we ate lunch late thanks to coming home from bowling around two. . . Ah well, at least I have breakfast for the next couple of weeks.
-->Had supper, showered, then worked some more on "Secundus 2" Chapter 5 -- the Tannens have officially escaped, and Doc's telling everyone not to blame themselves for not getting either of them. Poor Victor's admitted he feels like he jinxed this entire trip. . .should be ending edits on this chapter this week, as we have just a short "villain POV" section to get through to round it out. :) Then it's onto Chapter 6 and meeting Clara!
-->Caught up on the rest of the Sims-related videos I had to watch:
A) The return of James Turner with a -- well, sort of a house RENOVATION video. It was a "shell challenge" created by fellow Simmer Vixella, who made a basic structure that she put up on the Gallery, and then other Simmers had to take it and, without changing or adding to the outside walls at all (you can obviously make rooms inside), turn it into a decent house. James did his best, and got a pretty nice place out of the deal! Has a few oddly-shaped rooms and stuff, but it looks nice, has some color (he actively resisted going full black-and-white build, yay), and plenty of greenery and other fun stuff. Even has a nice pool out the back! :) It's good to see him posting again -- he's been sick, and then playing host to Vixella herself (turns out she's dating his roomie and best friend), so he hasn't had a lot of time to actually make videos. I'm looking forward to the next Rags To Repayment once it comes around!
B) A Carl's Sim Guide look at the roBurky "Meaningful Stories" mod, which adjusts emotions so they have proper staying power, negative emotions are more powerful, and emotional traits have more resonance. It's a cool mod that I've heard a lot of good things about, and it was nice to see Carl go over it and explain what's great about it. I think we all know that it's sadly unlikely I'll download it, given my attitude toward mods these days is "they're so cool, but as someone who plays for short periods once a week, are they really for me?" -- but I like knowing these options are out there, at least. Maybe if I ever start a new save file. . .
C) Plumbella attempts her "expert mode" challenge (full family of eight Sims played in ultra speed for one week) in The Sims 2! It goes -- well, it LOOKED like it was going okay for a bit there, despite the toddlers being constantly hungry and growing up badly. . .but then a pile of unfinished homework from one child lead to kind of a domino effect that -- well. Let's just say this particular experiment ended with fewer Sims alive than the original attempt in the first game. XD And hey, she's promised to do this challenge for the next two game generations as well! I'm looking forward to seeing what happens in Sims 3 and 4. :)
-->Got some of my Sims pictures done for the upcoming Newcrest Adventures update this week, answered the stuff in my inbox, and I'm currently wrapping up my Valice Multiverse queue, so yay~
So yeah -- evening felt a touch squeezed thanks to the late supper and those darn muffins, but, again, I got everything on the to-do list taken care of, so that's something. So now it's time to wrap things up and head to bed. Work tomorrow, meh. At least thanks to a vacation day I only have to get through four days this week. :) And then I just have to make it to the next long weekend. . . Night all!
