Playing Sims 4 with the McFly family: Got that done this afternoon. Started off the day as just normal, then decided to go ahead throw a birthday party on a whim for Marty after the kids went to school. And hey, look at that, the party lets me do Jennifer in the same go, so I don't have to worry about doing her in a separate event! And why not have it at Discotheque Pan Europa in Windenburg with the Browns, Eric, Wheatley, and Victor? Might be fun -- so long as I have Jennifer make a cake and bring it there with her in her inventory, we should be all set for some rocking birthday times!
And then I actually got to the lot, and in quick succession:
A) It was thunderstorming, meaning everyone was already tense from the weather
B) Wheatley and Victor just disappeared for no apparent reason
C) While I was trying to get Marty to call Eric over without actually going outside again, I took my eyes off Jennifer -- and when I went back, she'd literally taken a slice out of the cake in her inventory to eat, meaning the rest of the cake was useless as an actual birthday cake.
I was literally so annoyed that I first ended the party -- and then exited to the main menu without saving and restarted the day. Set up the same party, with the crucial difference of putting the candles on the cake before putting it in Jennifer's inventory. Fortunately, the second round went off MUCH better -- sunny weather, Victor and Wheatley stuck around for the whole party, Marty and Jennifer successfully aged up and did not eat cake until it was TIME to eat cake. Though I did end up having to put a mini-kitchen in anyway, because one of the tasks was "make a group meal." *sigh* But hey, I got another Gold-Level party, so I am NOT going to complain. And now Marty and Jennifer are both Adults, which feels much more appropriate for their current living situation. Now I just need to get Marty that final promotion. . .
Catching Up On James Turner's Videos: -- Two Animal Crossing New Horizon videos (he's built and furnished homes for three new potential villagers, built up the museum (which is super cool and SO BIG), had Deligracy over for a visit, and explored a mysterious island and got himself some coconuts and bamboo to grow back home) and two Sims 4 building videos (he's jazzed up the old townhouses for Bob, Trash, and family back in Britechester -- there's a run-down one for their potential tenants that is basically two three-bedroom apartments (one on the top two floors, one on the bottom two floors), and a nicer but somewhat-sparsely furnished full house for them as the landlords (sparsely-furnished as James ran out of moolah -- time to clone more stuff!). All were a lot of fun, but I once again had to fight YouTube and/or my wifi connection to get the damn videos to LOAD all the way. I ended up actually watching the AC videos at 720p instead of 1080p because they still looked fine and they seemed to load a tiny bit quicker that way. These constant fights with YouTube are getting REALLY old. . .as are the times when I'll go to change pages or load a site and it'll sort of get stuck for a while. Friend on tumblr has suggested restarting the modem -- thinking I'll talk to Mom and Dad about that tomorrow. Don't want to do it without letting them know. (And seeing if THEY'VE been having problems too. I really hope the issue isn't my computer -- this is NOT a good time for me to need a new one!)
Writing on "Secundus 2": Did just under a page of editing/writing on Chapter 6. Clicked into the footer section by accident (which I have done before). Typed some stuff in there and had a bit of trouble getting OUT of the footer section. Discovered page count appeared to be off and where I had left off had apparently changed position and was unable to figure out why. Did not see anything indicating I needed to save, so closed document and reopened it.
Discovered that NONE of my previous writing had actually saved.
Yeah, better than the time I accidentally saved over a chapter I'd just finished back with the next one in sequence when I was working on "In The Land of the Dead," but still -- that pissed me off. Fortunately I was able to redo the edits pretty quickly, AND I discovered how to turn off going into the header/footer menus when you click in the right spot, so at least it can't happen again! *deep sigh* I hope, anyway. . .
Soo yeah -- couple all that with the fact that I had to redo a queued post because the page became unresponsive over on The Valice Multiverse (fortunately it did so in a way where I could save the text and just copy-paste into a working queued post) and I'm still PMSing, and it's been kind of a day of ups and downs. At least I DID get everything on the list done, despite various little setbacks. And I'm just about done wrapping up the Valice Multiverse queue, so I'm on-track for the right bedtime. Hopefully tomorrow we can try that modem restart and see if that does anything for this internet situation. (Yes, I know it could just be more load on our provider's system overall, and there's nothing I can actually do about it, but doing SOMETHING will make me feel better.) Tomorrow we are back to Bloodlines -- really hoping I can wrap up "Vein Pursuit" and at least get through a decent chunk of the assault on Venture Tower. And it's supposed to be 60 degrees too, so a walk outside is sounding like an option. :D Even if it's just around the yard, that'll be okay with me -- need the fresh air! *nods* Night all! Hope you're doing well and that your internet is not being a total bastard like mine is.
