Rage Has Burned Itself Out
Aug. 6th, 2020 11:03 pmNot until I'd stressed myself out over my lunch break, but -- well, shit at work is not going to change, so I just need to do what I can to not stress out too much over it, I guess. *sigh* At least tomorrow is a half-day. Also Taskmaster day, given the new episode just dropped. :) (Series 7, with James Acaster AND Rhod Gilbert! It's already glorious.)
Not going to give much thought to work again in an attempt not to bring back the rage -- afternoon was pretty freaking nice, largely on account of the weather! Warm, but not boiling, and DRY! We haven't had a truly non-humid day in a while, let me tell you. . . My parents and I definitely made the best of it:
-->We were back at it with our beanbag game again -- and guess who won the first two games? :D I'm not sure WHAT happened, but I was in good enough form to take games one and two. Mom ended up winning the third with some pretty awesome throws. :) That is pleasing -- and hey, looks like my parents have finally sourced some sand so they can make the horseshoe pit and we can finally start using THOSE! About time, huh? I dunno why nobody has freaking sand at the moment, but. . .
-->I also got in my workout via an old favorite -- laps around the yard! Just about twenty or so (I lost count a couple of times because I was focusing on my music), but it felt good to be able to go out and get in a walk in the fresh air. Even if it's just around the yard. And even if I now have a band-aid on my toe because I'm not used to some of the slopes anymore and got a bit of a blister. ^^;
-->After that and supper, did some more on "Secundus 2" Chapter 11 -- poor Victor has fallen off the Jules Verne train and onto the runaway, thanks to Barkis, who has skedaddled. He's refused immediate rescue in favor of helping out Jennifer and Clara. Now he just has to get up to the main cab without losing his footing. . .which, I think we all know how this ends, but it's still exciting to write. :D
-->And then it was time for some Watch Later goodies:
A) First off, we're back to one-parter Atop the Fourth Wall episodes, so I went ahead and watched Linkara's latest – Animax #1! Both of them in fact – yeah, the story behind this is, this is a comic for a failed toy line about vehicles that were also animals, and the original first issue which actually explained the premise was never published. But the guy who created the toys put up the scans of said issue, so Linkara covered both that (showing off a world where the earth has stopped spinning and has been divided into a Lightside and a Nightside, with the Road Tamers and their Animax animal vehicles on the former and the Mobile Mutants and their Carnivaurs on the latter), and the actual published first issue (where the leader of the Road Tamers dies! . . .no, seriously. But then they bring him back as a mind-transferred clone, so we're all good!). It's utterly ridiculous and stupid and just what we needed after Event Comics Month.
B) And now time to catch up on GrayStillPlays:
1. The Call of Karen – Oooh man. When the radio program that opens the game is going on about not letting the octopus into your yard (and then clarifying that it means the "dirty commies up north"), you know you've got a good one. XD It's ESSENTIALLY a goofy puzzle game about being a 50s housewife in a house that is getting interfered with by Cthulhu, but it takes that premise and does it SO WELL. XD Especially your weapon of choice in the fight against evil – your handy vacuum cleaner! XD Gray's reactions to everything were amazing as well. But seriously, the radio stuff – "What's a good Christian woman like you doing out of the kitchen and on America's airwaves?" XD Can someone put that into Fallout 4 for me? I think it would go well with Atomic Radio.
2. More Sims 4! And today's experiment? Making a lovely house for 100 Sims, surrounded by a moat – and then, every Sim hour, shrinking the house and increasing the size of the moat. XD Gray fully expected all the Sims to die within 72 hours, but they managed to prove him a liar and make a little longer! And honestly, I think more Sims ended up dying of embarrassment or hunger rather than drowning! So that's an interesting little tidbit. . . The best parts were when the game started to glitch out because half of the appliances and furniture were left floating above the enlarging pool, allowing Sims to use them in rather game-breaky ways. Our ultimate winner, Kelley, ended up WALKING ON WATER to retrieve a bowl of rotten peas so she wouldn't starve to death before Ellis Dee drowned. She's been promoted to "recurring character" status as a result, and again, Gray is letting his commenters name her. Best name I've seen so far? Peasus Christ. XD
-->And then I had time to catch up on webcomics and even read an old Corpse Bride fanfic because my Valice Multiverse queue was actually fairly small today -- just four asks! After the mess I've been dealing with in my inbox over there lately, that's a breath of fresh air, let me tell you.
And that's about it, apart from answering some messages I have over here on DW. Nice to have some time to just -- relax, you know? And this is BEFORE we get into the long weekend. . . Hopefully my actual time off will be just as nice! Yeah, I have to clean on Saturday, but having an extra day off on Monday should help take the sting out. :P Again, just have to get through the half-day tomorrow. . . *deep breath* We'll see how it goes. Night all!
