Hi, Started This Early
Jan. 21st, 2021 10:04 pmYeah, I just happened to look over and see it was 10:04 -- then looked below at the date and figured, "Oh, hey -- 10:04 and 1/21? Yeah, hell with it, let's start the post so I can get the BTTF time stamp." XD
Anyway -- decent enough Thursday back at the office, anyway. Mostly because I only had to deal with the quieter of my two coworkers -- the other one was out with a migraine. Hooray. It was definitely a "hit the ground running" sort of day, though -- morning was spent calling people and catching up on e-mails and all that other fun stuff. Did not expect so many people to want a piece of me on Wednesday! But I got it all done by the afternoon, and was able to take a breather then. I've had way worse days at the office, anyway. We'll see what tomorrow brings on that front!
As for my evening, it's been a bit scattered, but reasonably productive. Let's consult the old to-do list:
1. Continue working on the Valice Multiverse "information page" stuff: Check! Sorted out “The Inevitable High School AU” verse section today – not too hard, since it’s a short one with no fanfic or official “plot” attached, unlike some of the others. I basically just brought back the name of the place and some of the backstories I gave the mains from the original write-up, put in that “y’all made it weird with your asks,” and left it at that. XD
2. Keep up on YouTube Subscription videos: Check – mostly because I had just the one. XD Yeah, I forgot for a second that Thursdays are Gray’s night off, so I only had the one Kevin video! (Which is good, because my other list items, particularly muffins, took up a lot of my evening.) And it was the glorious return of the GTA V Chaos Mod – TWITCH CHAT EDITION! :D Kevin made the mistake of trying to do a bunch of early story missions in a stream – the prologue bank robbery, plus Franklin’s two repossessions and a bit of Michael yoga – in the hope that he might actually be able to complete them. And he did manage to complete two, and get pretty close to completing a third! This is despite chat working against him at every turn – spawning dancing chimps, angry aliens, fan cats, and everyone’s favorite – GRIEFER JESUS. Getting through just the first mission took ages because all the nonsense kept breaking the game and stalling out cutscenes. It was getting to the point where Kevin was ASKING them to kill him somehow so he could reset. XD I’m perfectly happy with the mod returning in this format – it might not be quite as genuinely random as the regular chaos mod, but it’s just as entertaining. Poor Kevin looked so done with his own chat sometimes. . . XD
3. Get in a workout: Check! Back on the bike, with Jon’s Fallout 4 Survival Playthrough! I came back to Grills clearing out BADTFL for – well, technically Taffington Boathouse, but the quest giver lives in Hangman’s Alley, so who knows. Anyway, Sparta and her crew had to go, and Grills took them out carefully and cleanly – but along the way he found the old evidence locker there. With a tape from a police officer – to the human Nick Valentine, telling him that he didn’t know “Operation: Winter’s End” was going to end like it did (with Eddie Winter, mob boss, given immunity for his crimes from the police in exchange for fingering a bunch of other people) and that CIT has this interesting new technology that could help him deal with the trauma of his fiancee Jenny’s loss, something to do with brain scanning. . .that and finding another Eddie Winter holotape had Jon decide, after he’d finished clearing out the raiders, that he was going to go grab Nick and get his personal quest done! He and Grills are invested now. :)
So, in Episode 44, after a quick pop back home to drop off the settler quest (and discovering the new brahmin stuck in everyone’s way), that’s exactly what Grills did! He ran back to Diamond City to grab Nick from his office, stopping briefly at the entrance to watch the wedding between Mr. Zwicky and Miss Edna (a Miss Nanny bot), because he told them to get together off-screen and thought they were cute. :) In Nick’s place, Jon decided the best way to raise Nick’s affinity would be for them to do some cases together – he picked up the file for “The Gilded Grasshopper” (from an old partner of Nick’s, Marty), and – after a quick peek at Nick’s notes on The Mysterious Stranger – the pair of them headed out into the wastes, to seek the grasshopper atop Faneuil Hall!
Which was infested with Super Mutants. Lots of them. Including two different legendary variants. Jon and Nick did okay at the start – even activated some Protectrons for help – but then everything started going to hell as Jon and the Mutants began tossing grenades around and Jon found himself on the wrong end of a Legendary Butcher. There was much death, and unfortunately, some of it was Grills's. Fortunately, where I left it, take two was going better – the Legendary Butcher was already down, and Grills had gotten a nice Explosive Hunting Rifle off the corpse. Now it just remains to be seen if he can get past all the OTHER nasties. . .
4. Make muffins: Check! Had to do this tonight because I’d just run out – got to use my mom’s new cookie scoop to help get the batter in the cups, which was a lot easier than my usual “kinda try to pour it out” method! So I’m set there for another twelve working days.
And that about covers it, beyond reading the patch notes for the latest Sims 4 patch (looks like mostly bug fixes along with the new "Scared" emotion) and getting my Valice Multiverse queue for the night done. Now I just have to take care of my comment and head to bed -- and hopefully get some sleep, as I had some pretty nasty insomnia last night. I'm blaming that in part for why I've been a little spacey tonight. At least tomorrow's already Friday. . . Night all!
