Quiet Friday At Last
Feb. 12th, 2021 11:14 pmYeah, without my loud coworker and a lot of people calling us, it was actually a pretty chill day at work. Mostly roster maintenance and whatnot. I will take that for the end of the week, especially given how stressful some of the days at the beginning were. Now I just have to get through the biweekly cleaning tomorrow. . .
That's something to worry about tomorrow, though. Right now, let's check off the old afternoon to-do list:
1. Keep up on YouTube Subscriptions: Three-fourths check – everybody uploaded today, but a late start due to watching 8 Out Of 10 Cats Does Countdown with supper, needing to finish my writing (see item 2) and making hot chocolate for my dessert meant that I could only watch the three shorter videos. James’s next “3 Brothers” entry will have to wait until tomorrow!
A) Started with the week’s Fun With Shorts offering – “Overcoming Fear!” Which was a badly-edited eight minutes about a kid afraid of water defending a bicycle ordinance! Okay, TECHNICALLY it was about him overcoming his fear of water, but the short spent like three seconds on that and a good couple of minutes on him and the bike thing. Josh’s riffs were delightfully pointed as always – I do love a good MST3King. XD
B) Then it was over to Call Me Kevin, for another video on our favorite thing – GTA V Chaos Mod, Twitch Chat edition! :D They got through a whole two missions today – the one where Michael takes his son Jimmy out to ride bikes together, and gets sucked into having to “rescue” his daughter from a party boat (I’m not sure how unwillingly she got onto said boat); and the one where Michael impersonates some young techie for a friend to – well, I’m not entirely sure, I got distracted by the dog on a scooter, the bus in the middle of the lobby, and the blue Sultan with those two guys spawning inside Michael’s body. XD There were more cameos from Brad, Griefer Jesus (both regular and extreme variations), and the angry alien, and quite a lot of teleporting Michael around to stop him getting cabs to his destination. But the relationship has progressed to the point where Kevin can occasionally talk his chat into helping him (like teleporting him a few meters out of the building when he got trapped by that bus), and sometimes they’re nice and put him at the waypoint instead of doing everything possible to make sure he never reaches a checkpoint ever. XD Good quality chaos! (And hilariously, the game itself called him out on his love of the mod – Kevin took Michael to a therapy session, and the therapist said (during a cutscene where he and Michael couldn’t actually be seen) that he was addicted to chaos. Kevin cracked up, as you might expect.)
C) And then it was time for GrayStillPlays more Guts and Glory! You know you’re in for a good time when the very first board is some sort of tube of pain, full of various blades (free and mounted on fidget spinners) and lasers (regular straight red and lightning purple), designed to look like you’re going in Satan’s mouth and out his butthole. XD And then the second board was “Super Hardcore Impossible Masochism!” Featuring MORE bullshit lasers, more spinning blades of doom, a fuckton of turrets, some very steep drops, a laser tunnel, and the hill of blue balls that you must avoid to reach the finish line. Gray being Gray, he suffered mightily (he’s pretty sure he died 100 times on the final bit of the first board), but he succeeded – and succeeded MIGHTILY. Second ranked on the first board, FIRST RANKED ON THE SECOND! :D Ah, is there anything more satisfying. . .
2. Work some more on “In A World Of His Own”: Check! Victor and Alice have come across Mr. Explorer and his treehouse, and I’ve just gotten up to Alice squeeing over how cute Mr. Explorer is. XD What – she’s not wrong! Babbu Victor is very cute indeed. :)
3.Get in a workout: Check! Made sure to put my sneakers on today for a walk on the treadmill, and thus a little extra time with Jon’s Fallout 4 Survival Playthrough! I caught back up with Grills refusing Machete Mike’s offer to buy the power tools off him, instead choosing to snatch up as many hide bundles as he could carry for the leather. Because, really, you never know when you’re going to need leather. With that business taken care of, Jon sent him around the long way to get back to the National Campground, and from there back to Far Harbor. Most of the journey was just him doing his best to figure out where he was and occasionally shooting the wildlife – but about midway through, he stumbled across the National Park HQ, a locale filled with Super Mutants! Some tough ones too, including one Legendary Primus. Jon decided to clear them out while he was there – but, unfortunately, right as he was murdering one and his dog (having just leveled up to Level 63!), the game crashed. *wince* Yeah, that’s fun. Jon took it as a sign and ended episode 51 there, promising to pick back up at the same location for episode 52.
Episode 52 opened with him making an absolute pig’s ear of going back into the HQ, getting chased by the Legendary Primus and his dog right off the bat. XD Fortunately his Gauss Rifle and a lot of lucky shooting kept him alive, as well as falling back into the underbrush to take some of the heat off. He eventually took out all the Super Mutants in the camp, but it definitely took some doing! Got very lucky that the Masters seemed exclusively armed with melee weapons, and he found a good high spot in one of the buildings to take out the Suicider and the one remaining Primus. No interesting lore or anything like that, sadly, but he did find some antibiotics, so that’s something!
With that settled, Jon got Grills back to the campground, and from there down the road to good old Far Harbor. He delivered the Mariner’s tools (receiving a measly 450 caps, as compared to Mike’s offer of 2,000), then was asked by Teddy Wright, local doctor, why he was being so helpful. Grills replied they were good people, and Teddy offered him the chance to do the “Captain’s Dance” quest – go to a certain spot in Far Harbor, chum the waters, and kill whatever monsters turn up. Grills is somewhat ready to be a legend (or at least earn a bunch of respect from the Harborfolk), so he took the quest to complete at a later date. His first priority was to swim back over to Longfellow’s and tell him about Shipbreaker. Longfellow was pleased at Grills managing to kill it, though he admitted that he’s actually going to miss the monster a bit, as she made life interesting. He also handed over his harpoon gun, which provides +150 damage resistance while reloading – Jon wasn’t impressed, and I suspect this is going on the wall once he gets home.
What he was impressed by was his Sentinel gear – one quick craft of an armor bench later, he’d fully upgraded it and added some deep pockets for more carry capacity. Gotta love having solid defense and more space to lug stuff around! With that sorted, Jon sent him towards the south, as that’s where most of the action is happening. He started tracking the missing synth for Chase at Acadia (complaining a bit about the quest markers that appear along the blood trail making things a bit too easy – I’m pretty sure those would disappear if you took the “track quest” marker off said quest?), and followed a blood trail to a cabin full of Trappers, who – after a failed speech check – tried to kill him. Grills easily dispatched them, found the missing synth’s head on one guy who’s head had gotten exploded, and brought it back to Acadia (after some tricky glitchy climbing and a stop in to see the maintenance area for Far Harbor’s wind farm, aka where you go if you decide to destroy the place). He turned the head in to Chase, charmed her into a slightly bigger reward, then headed back out to check out a house on his map. More Trappers there – including a guy with a meat hook who got the drop on Jon. XD Maybe you should stop slagging those off? :P At any rate, he cleared out the house, then decided to investigate another location nearby, with a road that went seemingly nowhere. This led to another Trapper base – this one in front of a big old cavern! Jon happily sent Grills exploring after killing the Trappers outside, and I left him slowly and steadily clearing out the Trappers inside. Place is full of creepy Raider aesthetic – Jon remarked that it looked a bit like a creepy chapel of sorts. And while the Children of Atom are the cultists du jour around here, I did see one of the Trappers asking somebody if they could “hear it. . .” Hmmm. Worrying.
So yeah, not bad, not bad. And I've already completed my Valice Multiverse queue -- single ask, no problems there -- and caught up on my Victor Luvs Alice tumblr. . . Just have to answer the ask on there, answer my DW comment, and MAYBE try to get to my FF.net PM. . . Like to have that cleared out before the weekend! As it stands, I should get my to-do list for Saturday sorted before doing anything else:
1. Clean my room, as per the usual schedule
2. Clear out the Watch Later and catch up again on Subscriptions (should be OXBox, Plumbella, James Turner, Kevin, Gray)
3. Work some more on "Londerland Bloodlines"
4. Play some more Fallout 4 and see how much more of the "Sanctuary" quest I can do
(Yes, still no update for MC Command Center for Sims 4. I am tempted to just take all of my custom content out, and create a new save where I just build things/renovate other people's builds until that FINALLY gets updated.) That should hold me for a cleaning Saturday. Now I just have to finish up what I can before it is Writing Time. Night all!
