Comedy Of Errors Thursday
Mar. 4th, 2021 11:17 pmAt least, that's kind of how it felt like it was going to go this morning, when I started driving to work, only to discover I'd neglected to put my SHOES on. Fortunately I'd literally only just gotten up the street, but damn. And then there was road-work at my exit holding things up, and I briefly lost the keys off my name badge (only in my bag pocket, thankfully), and I dropped the checks I was scanning on the floor, and -- yeah. Not my best morning. Fortunately the day proved relatively quiet, with a few reversals to take care of but not much else. I focused mainly on obits and fielding the occasional call. *sigh* At least I got a couple days off approved for this month -- looking forward to THAT!
Anyway -- got through the day, came home, and tackled the Standards Weekday To-Do List --
1. Get in a workout: Check! Another round on the bike, and back to Jon’s Fallout 4 Survival Playthrough! Finished up Episode 60 today, catching up with Grills as he confronted Avery about her synth-ness. Turned out he didn’t need to bust out the dress – making her look at what was essentially her own skull was enough. Avery was horrified and heartbroken to discover everything she was was a lie, and was determined to make DiMA pay. . .but didn’t want Grills to tell the rest of Far Harbor, particularly not Allen Lee, as it would lead to a massive amount of bloodshed.
Guess what Grills did! Granted, Allen needed a little convincing – namely, by having Avery’s skull tested by the doctor Teddy Wright and verified to be hers – but once Grills handed over the proof. . .ooof. He immediately called a town meeting, accused Avery of being a synth, and happily shot her on Grills’s say-so. He then riled up the mob, telling them to grab guns from his shop, and led the lot of them to Acadia (after someone also shot Brooks, who was also a synth). Grills looted the corpses and ran up the hill to join them, slaughtering a lot of low-level refugees along with DiMA, Chase, Faraday, and Kasumi (who did not drop a Synth Component, it must be said). It was – pretty sad, honestly. Jon played up the whole “yeah this is actually a thing assholes do” angle with his pro-Brotherhood commentary, but. . .yeah, if anything cements my decision to make Victor anti-Brotherhood and pro-synth rights, it’s this. I could never do it – not even for the perk you get for doing so. Jon may prefer “Destroyer of Acadia” for the major damage boost you get at low health simply for straight game mechanics reasons, but I’ll happily settle for the reverse perk you get for saving the place, which gives you – *looks it up* Okay, that’s a chance of a +1000 boost to Damage and Energy Resistance at low health, and you have to replace Confessor Tektus. Hmmm. But the “have DiMA pay for his crimes” option doesn’t seem to have any chance at true peace. . .hmmmmm. . .
At any rate, having received his new “synth-killer” perk, “Lucky Eddie” the lever-action rifle, and 2000 caps from Allen Lee, Grills ended Episode 60 with a level up to Level 70, and taking “Advanced” level of the Hacker Perk! Episode 61 started with him going to take advantage of that around the Island. First up was a visit to Erickson’s to hack the terminal locking the cockpit to his plane house, and see what was inside! Nothing particularly amazing, honestly – just basic supplies – but as they were all marked as Erickson’s, Grills took advantage of the opportunity to kill the Super Mutant. Because he is Brotherhood, after all. Stole his bearskin outfit too. Rude. I think Victor would honestly punch Grills in the face if they ever met at this point. But I’m sure he’ll get what’s coming to him in the Vim! Pop Factory. . .
2. Work some more on “Londerland Bloodlines”: Check! Jack’s just given Alice the low-down on what’s true and what’s not about vampires – namely, what can and can’t hurt them. And Wonderland’s just stepped in to help squash some of Alice’s more suicidal impulses. Alice is kind of in two minds about the vampire thing, as you might expect, but Caterpillar and Cheshire have convinced her that she should at least try to see things through. She doesn’t have to be a murderer, after all, and she did promise her family’s grave that she’d push forward. . .and besides, if she did step into the sunlight the next morning, it’d be an awfully short story! Of course, the tutorial isn’t going to let her wonder about this sort of thing for long. . .
3. Keep up on YouTube Subscriptions: Check! I mean, this is usually easier on Thursdays anyway. . .but I got a couple of videos out of the Watch Later too, soo that’s a positive development. :)
A) Started with Call Me Kevin, as per usual – more Cities: Skylines featuring d’Ireland! Kevin finally unpaused the tsunami, which – well, there was a LOT of clean-up work to be done in Dublin afterwards. Namely in the form of demolishing abandoned houses. But he persevered and built up even greater and better than before – TWO graveyards instead of just one to handle all the dead bodies! XD Yeah, crime and disease were kind of rampant in Dublin post-water wave, and Sewertown definitely wasn’t doing too hot. But Kevin did not care, for he was able to finally build his Utopia – lovely Cork! Which is one straight road and a magic roundabout with a henge in the middle. XD And which was hit by a SECOND tsunami right after Kevin started building there. And without him flinging meteors at anything, which was weird. Ah well – even with that watery start, that section of the map is DEFINITELY doing better than the rest of it – police, hospitals, a bouncy castle – anything and everything its citizens could wants! Meanwhile, Sewertown got set on fire. XD Ah, Kevin, you are a cruel and capricious god. . .
B) And then it was into the Watch Later for a couple of Plumbella videos! We had:
I. Her opinion on Kits (and an explanation for why she hasn’t been uploading much – jaw hurty!). Having bought the three, she found herself unimpressed by Throwback Fit (though she fully admits this is a “personal bias” thing as much as anything, as the clothing styles don’t match what she grew up with in Northern England); really loving Country Kitchen (not surprised, we lack kitchens in this game); and intrigued by Bust the Dust but not totally sold on all the objects (she wanted a usable dustpan and broom, which – legit!). Her overall opinion on the whole mess is mixed – she likes some of the concepts behind Kits, but she also hated The Sims 3 Store and doesn’t want these to go down the same road. . .I guess we’ll see where the concept goes in the future and what she thinks of future Kits as they come!
II. And a video featuring Mumbella and Dadbella watching her speed-build a house in Sulani for Bob and Eliza Pancakes. I think the idea was that they would comment on the build, but apart from asking why so much of the house had fancy vibes (“Eliza’s a snooty bitch,” was Jesse’s answer) and Dadbella complaining that a house literally on the water had no garage, there was less of that and more of them playing with the family dogs (Jesse’s own Bella and the parents’ Rex) and Dadbella making up a story where Bob Pancakes got together with Brandi Broke from Sims 2 in a Simvegas wedding, with the house Jesse was building being the place they bought after winning the lottery. Also Bob cleans crabs on the beach part-time to make them shiny for the tourists. XD It was complete chaos and very enjoyable. XD
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check! Six asks for Valice Multiverse – four I managed to draft this morning, and the other two I took care of this evening. Including one that was responding to an ask originally answered December 30th, 2019. I – may have responded mostly as Alice going “WTF” to that one.
So yeah, productive evening, at least. Also answered a comment over on AO3 on "Fixing You," and am about to answer my usual comment on DW. Then it's off to bed as it's not this Friday I have off. One more day. . .at least after this I have a non-cleaning Saturday where I can do at least some fun things. Night all!
