Semi-Stressful Friday
Apr. 23rd, 2021 11:22 pmIt didn't start out too bad, but it kind of went downhill as the day went on -- computer glitches, talky coworkers, a lot of tasks coming in at the last minute. I got everything done, but it was not fun, bleh. At least I'm out for two days. I mean, I do have the dentist appointment tomorrow, but that'll be shorter, at least.
Anyway, how'd I do on the old to-do list today?
1. Get in a workout: No check today – ended the day a bit stressed and tired, so decided to take a skip. I will endeavor to get through some more “Nuka-World Level One Survival” tomorrow!
2. Work some more on “In A World Of His Own”: Check! Finished off the tiny epilogue of Victor meeting the Queen and King of Hearts, which also involved tying it a little closer to “A Wedding, A Wedding, We’re Going To Have A Wedding” (which I imagine parts of to be happening around the same time). Seems the monarchs aren’t immune to the pleasures of the Valice romance. . . Also, amusingly, in its current state, the story is pretty much exactly 37 pages long. Rare I end so precisely at the bottom of a page! I don’t expect it to stay that way, though – after going through some quick-and-dirty page counts, I can confirm that Chapter 4 is damn near twice as long as most of the others. Something’s gotta give there – I just gotta figure out what.
3. Keep up with YouTube Subscriptions: Check! As per usual, Friday is the complete opposite of Thursday, with an overload of stuff to watch in the Subs –
A) Started with a Fun With Shorts – part one of “The Doctor,” a short that we can tell is explicitly from 1968 thanks to the titles! It’s all about a pediatrician treating a few patients – including a kid with a sore throat. Let me tell you, seeing him poke around Larry’s gullet to get a throat swab without gloves is unpleasant, especially in a COVID-infected world. At least we have Josh’s riffs to keep the horrors at bay!
B) Then it was onto James Turner doing a quick renovation on the “3 Brothers” house from his Sims 4 LP! Chaz Ricks, Brodie’s son with Bonehilda, has been officially adopted into the family, so some changes had to be made to accommodate a toddler. Such as selling most of the family’s more expensive collectibles for renovation cash; knocking out a bunch of walls to turn the cramped kitchen, dining, and living spaces into a much more spacious and interesting combined kitchen/dining (with the couch and whatnot exiled to Candle’s old bedroom); removing most of the stains and whatnot from the walls; building an entire second story with a nursery for Chaz; spending most of the rest of his money on a fancy coffin for Brodie (a vampire who doesn’t even need to sleep); and getting confused by the new items added into the game from the birthday patch because apparently he hasn’t really built since before then. XD The end result was – not perfect, but at least PART of the house doesn’t feel so hemmed in! Kitchen/dining looking good, if cluttered. XD And we have the ability to keep the toddler fed and alive, so that’s not nothing either.
C) Then it was onto Call Me Kevin and the fan mod Portal Reloaded, a fan mod for Portal 2 that kind of acts as the third game that Valve, in their infinitemoney from other properties wisdom will not give us. This game puts you in the role of I guess a random human test subject – and it gives you Wheatley’s fabled THREE-portal device. Yup, it now exists! And the third portal? A fucking TIME PORTAL. The puzzles in this one are all about figuring out to manipulate the present (clean and shiny) facility and the future (wrecked and falling apart) facility and their various items to solve puzzles. Moving stuff in the past affects the future, but doing stuff in the future doesn’t affect the past. . .Kevin’s brain was hurting after a few levels, but I am INTRIGUED. I was thinking that I might replay the Portal games in honor of the tenth anniversary once I’m done with Alice, but maybe I’ll give this a spin instead. . .
D) And finally, we had GrayStillPlays and more GTA V stunt race pain! This board – oh this board. Not only was it a difficult parkour course, starting out with having to carefully navigate a path sunk just deep enough into the ocean that you risked getting washed away by the waves, it ALSO involved MULTIPLE vehicle transformations. Need a rusty old truck to clamber up some steps? We got that. Need a fancy sports car to get yeeted up a half-pipe? We got that too. Need a bike to do some good old-fashioned tightroping with painfully tight corners? Not only have we got that, we also have a FLYING SECTION. You heard me right – the end of the board is a total lie, and you must FLY your way to victory to AN ENTIRELY DIFFERENT PART OF THE MAP. Talk about your troll boards. Gray, why do you put yourself through this. XD
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check, though this was more difficult than anticipated because I encountered a new and interesting reblogging bug on tumblr – namely, when I go to reblog something, the actual thing that lets me edit my reblog appears BEHIND all the other posts on my dashboard. Meaning I can’t actually SEE what the fuck I’m writing or tagging or whatnot. I have no idea if this just something new with tumblr, xkit not interacting well with tumblr, or what, but. . . Fortunately I can get around it because I do still have access to the button that determines where a reblogged post goes – I can use that to send the post to drafts, and then make edits from THERE. Still, wtf? *sighs* Social media is hard sometimes. . .at least my Victor Luvs Alice stuff was already sorted!
So yeah -- not too shabby. Though I hope that stupid reblog thing gets fixed soon. . .or I figure out what's causing it if it's on my end. As it stands, I have to answer my DW comment, then get ready to do the Friday Night Writing Thing. Quick set-up of tomorrow's to-do list:
1. Dust computer, give rug quick vacuum, do big laundry load
2. Watch OXBox videos in Watch Later and keep up on YouTube Subs
3. Write some more on "Londerland Bloodlines"
4. Play Sims 4 and continue Eric's Newcrest Adventures
5. Get in a workout
The first one is because, thanks to the dentist appointment, I can't really do a PROPER cleaning Saturday, so I'm dusting the most important thing and vacuuming to keep the rug clean, at least. Small things!
Right now, though, time for comments and writing. Night all!
