Somewhat More Annoying Friday
May. 21st, 2021 11:35 pmSome bullshit with the credit card stuff I found while doing the GL, one of my coworkers had to leave early, a few more random phone calls than I really wanted to deal with. . .I feel like yesterday and today should have been switched, work-wise. Yesterday's damn near dead quiet felt like a better end to the week than today. Ah well -- at least I'm out now! And for three whole days, as I have to keep reminding myself even though I'm the one who took the day off. *shakehead* Oh, Vic. . .
Anyway, let's have a gander at the old to-do list:
1. Get in a workout: No check today – between episodes, so I decided to take today as a miss. Good thing too, as we ended up getting to beanbags later than usual thanks to my parents planting shrubs around the back. . .my scores hold at 3-2-2, though at least this time Dad didn’t win every game. Instead Mom won the first and last, and Dad won the second. Maybe I’ll have better luck this weekend, when we play five rounds instead of three.
2. Edit some more on “Londerland Bloodlines”: Check – Alice has learned everybody’s backstory now (Copper and Julius got a variation on what would be the PC’s backstory in Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2, if it ever comes out; Rosa I invented a traveling fortune teller who turned her – and then buried her when she took an extra-long time to revive, poor girl), and is getting ready to take on the “Thinned Blood” quest for the lot! Because she’s a soft touch, and because she relates a lot more to THESE vampires than any of the others she’s met so far. Not that that’s many right at the moment, but – even once she does, her opinion doesn’t change much.
3. Keep up with YouTube Subscriptions: Check, though again it was easy – another night off for Kevin, and no James, so I only had Gray! So I dipped back into the Watch Later to find some more content –
A) Decided to watch a different Many A True Nerd video tonight – “Hitman 3: Seven Deadly Sins - Pride - The Peacock's Challenge!” Yes, the next part of the Seven Deadly Sins DLC has dropped (in time for Pride Month, har har), and it involves 47 in a very tacky suit made of mirrors trying to impress a peacock with his assassination skills. There’s three escalations, and in each you’re presented a choice of weapons. Choose the weapon the Peacock derides as too easy, and you get a dull challenge (like explode a couple nearby on a bridge where their bodies will be immediately hidden) and a lot of berating. Choose the other weapon, and the Peacock gives you a reasonably complicated challenge (like stealthily poison three people with antique syringes, all without being spotted) and a lot of praise. Jon did all the hard challenges first, and completed them, um, REASONABLY well – the third one went a bit tits-up for a moment thanks to him not tracking the USUAL target for the level, getting spotted, and having to hide from the angry gun-wielding guards in the vents for a bit. Then he did the easy challenges and was not impressed. Actually, he was just kind of not impressed in general – he didn’t think the “hard” challenges were appropriately associated with the sin of pride. They’re basically just a game-mandated “play the silent assassin way” series of escalations. I admit, I would have been more impressed if the challenge had adjusted to “well, show me how good you REALLY are” if you did something like take the explosive – maybe a much more public target? I dunno – it was fun to watch, but I’m happy enough to leave this one and see what the next sin brings us.
B) And then we had the one thing in my Subs – GrayStillPlays more Happy Wheels! You know it’s gonna be a good one when his warm-up jet-fall (in Russian!) turns out to be one of the biggest pain in the asses he’s faced yet in the game. There was also a couple of terrible harpoon runs, including one that made him go back and do the board BACKWARDS, then sent him down to another level that was literally just an excuse to kill him – Gray’s way of getting around that was to take a harpoon up the rectum to propel him to the top of the wall the board erects in front of the win, then climb up and over. XD Also a couple of super-speed bike launches (Gray managed to slow down JUST ENOUGH to win both), a couple of glass bridges (where you have to get over before the glass breaks – the second one offered a cheaty path which actually took you right back to the start, which Gray respected XD), and a super-speed bottle run where he liquefied Tom while flying over the bottles to the win. Also a level named after himself where, by accidentally hitting a boost just right, he managed to fly over and circumvent the entire board. XD That’s GrayStillPlays in a nutshell, honestly!
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check – three asks on the old Valice Multiverse, all for “threads” I’m currently enjoying, so that’s nice. :)
Not too shabby! Gotta wrap things up before doing the Friday Night Writing Thing with my friend, though, so let's get tomorrow's to-do list sorted, then finish up with my comments:
1. Work some more on my new notes document for the new self-indulgent hypnokink verse
2. Watch the Plumbella in my Watch Later and keep up with YouTube Subs
3. Play Sims 4 and complete another day in Eric's cycle
4. Get in a workout
I think that'll do. Let's get on that comment, then to the writing. Night all!
