Mostly Okay Monday
Jun. 28th, 2021 11:18 pmI mean, we had a shitty ride home from the Diocese, and my Mom accidentally broke a vase right before supper and cut herself (nothing serious, but it looked bad for a second), but other than that -- well, see below:
Work – Pretty quiet – mostly me just going through my “credit card failures” list and updating things, with a couple of phone calls and suchlike to break things up. *shrug* Week before a holiday weekend – we’ll see if it lasts!
Beanbags – Not in THIS weather – we’re in day one of a heat wave, and the humidity is STIFLING out there. Feels-like temperature was 99F when my parents picked me up according to my mom. And it did NOT help that we had to weave through the city because of backed-up traffic on our usual route, only to encounter road construction and all sorts of other messes. Can’t say THAT did anyone’s moods any favors!
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check! 30 minutes on the bike – and I actually went back to my first favorite YouTuber, Helloween4545! He’s retired from actual Let’s Plays on YouTube now, but he still streams on Twitch and puts the completed streams up on his channel. I figured I could watch those with my workouts, and ended up starting with a stream he did of, of all things, Untitled Goose Game!
. . .I have been reminded of why I don’t typically watch Twitch streams. Most of the start was just Helloween talking to and thanking people while strange pictures popped up (I have no idea what triggers those or what “cheers” are or any of that), and it took him quite a while to start actually PLAYING the game. And even then he was pausing constantly to acknowledge people and whatnot. This is why I prefer pre-recorded LPs – while I like commentary, I also want the person playing to get on with the game. This is nothing personal against Helloween, trust me – I also backed out of an early stream I watched by Linkara because I didn’t like the format. I might watch a little more of this particular video tomorrow, just to see if I can get into it for workout purposes, but I suspect I’m going back to Jon and Fallout 4 before the week’s over.
2. Edit some more on “Londerland Bloodlines”: Check – started on Chapter 3 today, with Alice preparing to go out clubbing in the dress Van bought her, with an eye to meeting Therese and seeing how fast she can get the Tung business over with. Cheshire has reminded her that there are sidequests to do, though, so the actual first location she’s visiting is the Santa Monica clinic, to chase down a sample of werewolf blood. Though as her Wonderland friends will eventually tell her, her most important task there will involve something entirely different. . .
3. Keep up with YouTube Subscriptions: Technically a four-fifths check, but I’m counting it as a full simply because the one video I had to skip is the latest Wyrd Sisters Podcast episode – just under an hour on The Amazing Maurice And His Educated Rodents. That one HAS to be on the weekend because of the length, so yeah. Good with everything else, though!
A) Started by catching up with Call Me Kevin –
I. Watched yesterday’s offering before my workout – Maneater, a game all about being a man-eating shark! Well, technically you play as a mother man-eating shark at first, then – after being caught by “Scaley Pete” – switch to her baby, ripped out of her corpse by Pete before being tossed overboard when you bite off his hand. Kevin was all into the terrible murder and chomping offered by the game (if you ever wanted to experience one of those terrible sci-fi movies about killer mutant sharks, this is your game – you can even give yourself new bodies, sonar, and such as you grow and complete challenges) – but, being Kevin, he also INSISTED on trying to make his shark go places on land. He actually SUCCEEDED once by mashing the “flop around” button, sending the baby across a small island, but was stymied in all other attempts. He also VERY unsuccessfully took on alligators a few times, which proves that sharks may be scary, but ‘gators are nothing to mess with. (As I’m sure Gray would attest to!) Still, he was clearly having a ton of fun, and I wouldn’t mind seeing more of the game on his channel! If only to see if there’s an awful Sharknado reference somewhere down the line. XD
II. Then, after writing, it was time for today’s episode – more GTA V RP with Grognak! Today was Grognak wandering around with friends Posy and Troy before winning a ride on a helicopter from a local radio station, which was then upgraded to a private jet! So Grognak took Posy, Troy, Steven, and this random dude on the street to go fly on the plane. . .which turned out to be piloted by Anto, aka Grognak’s obsessive stalker. Who proceeded to throw everyone else out of the plane and then propose to Grognak. Who was very reluctant to agree until Anto lied and said he was rich. XD Of course, the moment she found out he wasn’t and was instead involved in gang wars, she got VERY angry and insisted he buy her a car to make up for it. Cue her deciding she wanted the rustiest camper van on the lot, getting the money from Anto, then going out with the car dealership guy and I assume stealing the van from somewhere else before going to the hospital to pick up her injured friends and drive them around. All in all, a net win for Grognak! XD
B) Then it was over to James Turner for “Rags To Redecoration, Part 14!” Today’s renovation – Hazel’s own house! Mainly redoing her walk-in closet so she doesn’t have to walk in through the kitchen (instead knocking out a bit of the wall between her bedroom and the closet, and rearranging her clothing rails and suchlike), and redoing the kitchen by temporarily walling up the fireplace and rearranging the counters and appliances. Oh, and she also got herself a puppy! Hagrid the black chow chow, created via CAS because James didn’t see any chow chows available for adoption. He’s a tiny adorable ball of fluff. XD The only other thing Hazel really did was visit the Behr sisters to see if they had anything she wanted to steal, but nothing doing. She does have a gig lined up for next time, though – a fabulous living room renovation for another member of the Bigwallets! We’ll have to see who it is in Part 15 – I mean, we’ve already been through most of the Bigwallets in this save file. . .
C) And we wrapped up with GrayStillPlays and another GTA V stunt board! This one was truly a parkour board from hell – you know it’s gonna be good when the board STARTS with a mid-air drop, and Gray then struggles with the very first perfectly-spaced-to-be-annoying tightrope! There were also a number of troll jumps (making it look like you had to go a lot farther than you really did), hidden boosts in ramps (which Gray actually handled admirably well), the return of the wall ride with a bullshit transfer in the middle (timing had to be JUST RIGHT), terrible precision platforming (now with walls in the way!), and terrible yeety tubes to end it (you take me hiiiigher). . . Gray managed it, but he made all the interesting noises while doing it. XD
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check – I have drafts for the Wednesday Newcrest Adventures posts on Victor Luvs Alice, with pictures and a bit of starter text as per usual. That combined with all my other drafts and the fact I know exactly what’s going up for Song Saturday should get me through the week no problem! :)
So yeah, not bad -- and if I can keep up on the Subs the next few days, I should be able to catch up on the Watch Later stuff over the weekend. Well, depending on circumstances -- there's going to be car-shopping and a visit to my aunt. But I DID get an extra day off approved next week (the 7th -- both the anniversary of signing on our house AND the date I usually use for Victor and Alice's wedding), so that's something too. *nods* But I have to get through the next three days first! Hopefully we don't have any traffic issues tomorrow. . .night all!
