Jul. 30th, 2021 11:43 pmNot that it's really sunk in for me yet that I've really got ten days off work. XD Maybe tomorrow. . .but yeah, the vacation has started, and is starting strong with some nice weather. At least I can have the windows open and not rely on the AC to keep my room cool enough to sleep in! We'll see how long it lasts. . . Anyway, for the daily update form:
Work – For once, a quiet Friday! Pretty much no calls, no nothing – I did the GL, then finished cleaning up some duplicates before heading home. Ride in and out was a bit annoying, but I think we’ve established how much I loathe driving, sooo. . .
Games – For video gaming, I decided to play a little more Untitled Goose Game once I got home this afternoon and redo some of the “to do as well” list items. As usual “cabbage picnic” is a pain in the ass (mostly because you can only roll cabbages – you cannot bat them with your beak like the soccer ball – and it goes into the water at the slightest provocation), and I had to redo part of “collect the five flowers” because I locked the gardener out via the garden main gate, so he was taking the long way around to get back into the garden, and along the way found the flower I stole from him. Whoops. But I got a good chunk of them done, so that’s nice. :) This is a good game to play if you’re just looking for a slow-paced bit of fun for a while.
For beanbags, we got in three rounds because a) my mom got some plants from a friend she wanted to put in the ground, and b) because, true to form for this July, it all clouded up midway through us playing and looked like it was about to rain. I had an excellent day with W-2-W, and Mom made 2-W-2 – poor Dad was really off and lost every game. And some of them were pretty tight – I just had a talent for getting a last-minute winning eight-pointer when I needed it! So not too shabby. :)
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: No check – my legs were feeling a bit achey today (I blame standing up a lot more than I’m used to yesterday, lugging around lots and lots of paper to pack up all those GLs), so I decided to go ahead and take the day off. I’ll have plenty of time to catch up over the next ten days!
2. Edit some more on “Londerland Bloodlines”: Check! Jeannette’s finally left Alice alone, much to her relief – but before she goes pursuing her to find Therese, she’s taken a detour to meet Knox upstairs (as that’s where he was in my playthrough). Knox is filling her in on his master – the very Bertram Tung she’s trying to find – and his mission regarding the Cathayan. Alice is about to rumble him and let him know she knows she’s being played – fortunately, she’s still perfectly happy to do the mission, given it was Knox filling in a few of the details regarding vampire blood that made her realize she could save Victor. (Granted, it’s later going to come to light that she didn’t FULLY understand what he was talking about, but – yeah.)
3. Keep up with YouTube Subscriptions: Mostly check – I’m still down the Wyrd Sisters Podcast, but I can get that listened to this weekend. And I got a couple things out of the Watch Later, which helps balance it out a bit. :) In the meantime –
A) Priority One: Catch up with James Turner! Had two videos from him to watch:
I. Cottage Living LP – Chaz and Trenton now have a selling table out front to do their own direct sales to visitors! It’s not quite as profitable as going to the market stalls in town, but it allows James to sell a few things without needing to leave the lot and have all the produce in the greenhouse suddenly pop into his household inventory (a new bug, it seems, which he hates because there’s no easy way to remove it). They’ve also gotten every sprinkler they need for their garden plots – now they just have to all be repaired (because they ended up running all day) and made unbreakable so they pay for themselves in crop growth. As usual, trying to keep on top of all the chores and whatnot is running the two brothers ragged, but it’s all coming together – one massive sale to Kim and Agnes in Finchwick of all their produce (regular and oversized), eggs, milk, and wool gave them $16,292 to play with! Granted, James promptly spent some of that money on a recycling machine, a generator, and a water-collector so he can recycle stuff from his household inventory (instead of just mass-deleting and resetting his money) and use it to fuel the generator and stuff (and have spare power for when his bills come along), but that still leaves them about 10 grand in the bank. Which is good, because this episode led straight into the next. . .
II. Dream Home Decorator LP – in which Hazel comes by the farm to do some renovations on the actual house! Yes, the boys have been so focused on setting up automated farming of the big crops and their greenhouse and animals and whatnot, they’ve kind of neglected the place where they actually LIVE. James was lucky enough to get a full-on level renovation for their ground floor, and went ahead and had Hazel redo the place so completely she actually went over budget for the first time. They now have a proper dining room, a real downstairs bathroom with a shower (not just an outhouse), a proper mud room, an upgraded kitchen, and a home office! The living room remains a bit sad, but you can’t have everything – plus James is actually going to be subtracting everything Hazel spent, plus her fee, from their actual money, so he couldn’t spend it ALL. And, unfortunately, the reveal glitched out again – I’m starting to think it has something to do with having ANYTHING possibly obstructing the front door (James built a little one-time covered area over theirs, which is where everyone congregated before Hazel tried to reveal, so. . .). Still, the boys liked it, and Hazel was able to actually get to know them a bit – not much, as Trenton refused to actually look at her and Chaz wandered off to take a look at his frogs out in the greenhouse mid-conversation. But she DOES know them, and they can be repeat clients now! Which is good, because poor girl STILL doesn’t have enough money to pay her bills. . .
B) Then, this evening, we started with a couple of OXBox list videos out of the Watch Later:
I. “7 Dead Game Genres That Deserve a Comeback” – those genres that were super-popular for a while, but now have been regulated to the mists of time and Dave & Buster’s arcades. Stuff like the rhythm action peripheral game (Guitar Hero, anyone?), the light gun game (though only if you get to shoot that damn Duck Hunt dog), and the FMV game (if only because Andy loves how weird they are and wants more of that). Would be more fun than more Call of Duty clones, right?
II. “7 Times Taking Selfies Was Almost as Fun as the Game” – games that have excellent photo modes, and excellent places and people to take photos of. Spider-Man for the PS4 got an immediate shoutout as Peter is, of course, famously a photographer, but we also had Red Dead Redemption 2 (which shipped with a photo mode using your character’s historically-accurate camera – though the photo mode itself was more versatile), Yakuza: Like a Dragon (where taking selfies and pictures of the crew is a great way to unwind), and God of War (the sequel taking on Norse mythology, where a post-launch photo mode gave you the ability to MAKE KRATOS SMILE. The horror). All good ways to waste a few minutes, and maybe relieve some stress between tough fights.
C) After that was more Call Me Kevin and The Sims 2! Sim!Kevin has, through the power of cheats, gotten his hands on the Resurrect-o-Nomitron and has (after much negotiation over pay) gotten the Grim Reaper to resurrect both Vidcund and his brother Pascal! As zombies! Who go to work while Sim!Kevin paints grilled cheese and sunsets! XD Also Pascal immediately gave birth after being resurrected as one of the limping dead, which was – rather disturbing. Not that “Monster” stuck around long, that is – Sim!Kevin finally neglected his remaining children enough that the social worker showed up and took both them and Test Tube 2. And Cash Cow ran away because kitty’s needs weren’t being met. Also, Pascal somehow managed to die again and had to be resurrected a second time. On the plus side, the angry customers on Kevin’s home business venue lot constantly bully the zombies instead of Kevin himself, the rest of the cats are still around with jobs, and Vidcund just got abducted by aliens again, so soon there will be a whole new bundle of joy around the house! XD Ah, you gotta love this game. . .especially the way Kevin plays it. XD
D) And finally we had GrayStillPlays and more Happy Wheels! A bunch of fun boards today, from a multi-layer fall down balls and spikes (where Gray managed to avoid being decapitated once, but not twice, and found the secret to winning was to lose all your limbs), to a trip through a board with all the arrows, all the harpoons, and all the swinging terror balls (Gray had to resort to flying over it as much as possible, and only won in the end thanks to a lucky deflection of a homing mine), to getting a coin while attached to a harpoon as Pogo Man (or, rather, ripping himself off the harpoon because screw your rules), to conquering every mini-board provided by The Dark Rainbow (a secret jet fall, a secret arrow-dodge and coin grab, and the actual level, which was a glass break from hell – and ended with Gray having to shove squares of glass off a cliff BACKWARDS), to a jumpscare game featuring an awful cartoon cat (and no win, which I think pissed Gray off even more than the previous game). All the elements for a good night with our favorite Floridian!
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Uh – kinda N/A today. I’m good with Victor Luvs Alice, and there were no threads or asks on Valice Multiverse and nothing that caught my eye for a reblog, soo. . .yeah.
So yeah, not a bad day at all, really! Except for all the bullshit in the world, but I'm trying not to think about that right at the moment. *sigh* And I've got Friday Night Writing Thing to get to, so let's set up tomorrow's to-dos and head out:
1. Work some more on my potential Sims 4 challenges or finish up my rewrite of that one future "Londerland Bloodlines" snippet
2. Get the three Atop The Fourth Wall episodes out of the Watch Later, listen to the Wyrd Sisters podcast, and keep up on other YouTube Subs
3. Update MC Command Center and Sims 4 Studio and buy Cottage Living
4. Get in a workout
Yeah, since I'm between chapters at the moment on "Learn To Love Again," I'm giving myself an extra "free writing day" to start off my vacation. I've been trying to get those challenges into shape for a while now anyway. . . And yes, the hope is to actually do something Simmy tomorrow -- fingers crossed it's stable enough for me to actually take it for a spin!
And now it's time to wrap up and get to late-night writing -- night all!
