crossover_chick: Alice (Wonderland) looking kind of confused (AMA: WTFery?)
They were supposed to come after five, and they never showed up. We had a bit of just plain rain this morning, around the time I woke up, but that was it. O.o I'm not COMPLAINING, I'm happy I wasn't needlessly driven off the computer, but -- did throw me off a tiny bit. *shrug* They're still saying it's supposed to cool off and dry out tomorrow, so -- we'll see if that actually comes to pass!

As it stands, I did have a pretty productive Saturday:

1. Write some more on “Learn To Love Again”: Check! Did this late this afternoon – Victor has told the girls about from the piano duet up to Emily stopping the second wedding. Alice remarked that it sounds like Victor had feelings for Emily, which he confirmed, saying that he wouldn’t have minded if Emily had been his living bride – then admitting that, if Victoria had been the dead one, he might still have drunk poison for her. (I’d actually like to see THAT AU at one point – everyone always makes Victor a dead groom if they make Emily alive. I want to see how an Everdort shipper would handle Victoria being the corpse bride instead.) June is just horrified that his living life was apparently bad enough that he was willing to kill himself for Emily’s sake, which – valid, let’s face it. Corpse Bride is a bit dark once you start thinking about this stuff!

2. Keep up on YouTube Subs and watch the Plumbella video in the Watch Later: Check, with bonus videos, yay! Keeping up with all the stuff I wanna watch~

A) Actually started with Linkara this morning – when I logged on to the old ‘puter, I saw he’d finally gotten up what would have been last week’s Atop The Fourth Wall, “Doom’s IV” #1! This is, technically, a sequel to his second-ever episode, where he reviewed the second issue because that’s what he had at the time. As you might imagine, he thought that one was crap, and he thought this one was crap. It’s basic 90s dreck about a super-team that is roughly a rip-off of the Fantastic Four with a few tweaks (for example, the “Human Torch” character is a woman in this one, while the “Invisible Woman” is a man and actually works more like Kitty Pryde in that he’s able to phase through solid objects), and the first issue is about them surviving an assassin attack from the “Doom’s Corporation” that gave three of them their powers (the fourth member is one of those “superhero from the future” characters – in this particular case, I say think “Cable” from the X-Men). While there’s some interesting stuff here – like the Thing analogue, Brick, working like a combination of The Thing and Sandman and actually having kids who travel with them as they go into hiding from the company – it’s all swallowed up by unnecessary page-turning spreads (or, in one case, A SINGLE PANEL) and terrible dialogue and action. At least this one didn’t prompt a “I’ve Got A Brand New Combine Harvester” breakdown! (No, seriously, that running gag originated in the original episode – wild, huh?)

B) Then, after lunch, it was time for a bit of Plumbella! “spiral staircases may be coming and i am having an asthma attack” was the name of the video, and it’s all about the fact that a background decoration in Henford-on-Bagley – specifically a castle ruin outside of Finchwick – has what looks like spiral stairs going around the inner edge of one of the turret walls, and people are taking this as a hint showing that spiral staircases are finally coming to this game. Plumbella personally wants even more, and is hoping we’re also getting diagonal staircases as a game changer, because currently we can’t place stairs on a diagonal and it’s not conducive to building. She even ended up doing an impromptu “entire history of stairs” while editing to show how far we’ve come with being able to customize stairs (Sims 2 – what you see is what you get; Sims 3 – can change stair color and banisters; Sims 4 – change color, decide if you want the wall under it or not, pick your own banister, and customize it so it can turn around corners and whatnot). I’m not THAT hopeful about spiral stairs coming to the game based on a background decoration, but I admit that it would be nice! I like the configurable stairs, but they do tend to end up pretty bulky, so proper spirals would be good for smaller builds. Fingers crossed!

C) After playing some of my own Sims, it was back to the chaotic world of James Turner’s Cottage Living LP! Most of the first half of this particular episode was spent trying to make sure that the chickens could only go where they were supposed to go (locking doors seems to be a little glitched when it comes to them; who is surprised) and forcing Chaz and Trenton to make so much cowberry jam, as the building episode revealed they had nineteen cowberries, w000. XD James also moved the house up on a foundation to stop the downstairs vacuum escaping outside and breaking – not that it seems to help, as the UPSTAIRS vacuum, which is also supposed to be unbreakable, was seen to be busted later on. *facepalm* Not to mention Llamanade and Cowtrina keep complaining about mistreatment when they’re the ones never coming out of their shed. This game. . .

On the plus side, some progress has been made on the “who Hazel will end up with” front – she invited Trenton out TWICE. Once to party with her “club friends” at the lounge at Willow Creek – which resulted in her not liking a bird of paradise he gave her, but then giving him a rose in return with a VERY romantic note – and then, after he took a quick detour to the Spice Festival to blow bubbles with the elderly former Flower Bunny at the bubble blower, over to her house. Where she scolded him for sleeping in the next-door neighbor’s bed because he was exhausted and couldn’t actually access her house (locked doors). Some mixed signals, but THEY’RE the ones that actually have some romantic relationship now, sooo. . .it’s looking good for Trenton!

Other items of note are mainly Chaz getting abducted by aliens (James was like “WHY DOES THIS KEEP HAPPENING” – fortunately Chaz did NOT end up pregnant, as James was NOT ready for alien baby), and James trying to hastily win the latest Finchwick fair with a small pumpkin and an apple pie after Kim set him an errand to do just that for Livestock upgrade parts. He came second on the oversized crop fair, but I think the new mayor glitched out and didn’t judge his pie (I spotted a t-pose), which is a shame. And James completely forgot to buy the discounted oversized crops seeds at the fair, which was the whole reason he went. *facepalm* Sold the cowberry jam for a good profit, at least? Ah well, life on the farm be like that sometimes. . .

D) Then, after supper, I checked out the first two episodes of “Lore By Night,” a podcast on Vampire: The Masquerade that my friend Squid recommended to me. The ones I listened to were “an intro to the World of Darkness and this podcast” and “Kindred 101, all the basics.” Decent stuff, the guy doing them has a good voice and all that, but DAMN is the background music loud in these early episodes! Makes it hard to hear what he’s saying sometimes. :( I’ll stick with it, I sufficiently enjoyed what I did hear, but I hope he adjusts that in later eps!

E) After that it was time for Call Me Kevin and SimCity (the new one that ruined the franchise)! Kevin’s city was called “Profit Over People,” namely because any people living there were either employed by the giant coal mines; employed by the giant oil refinery; employed by the giant ore refinery; or spending all their money in a variety of gambling houses. XD No police (despite all the robberies and murders), no fire department (despite regular and consistent fires), no schools (despite all the children growing up to be criminals) – Kevin needed the money to build his mansion and temple on the mountain overlooking the city, and a variety of oversized statues, including a superhero, Dolly the Dinosaur, and four giant balls of twine. Everyone was reasonably miserable, but the money was just pouring in – so yeah, city very much living up to its name! XD I just hope Kevin remembers where the meteors first struck the last time the game showered them on his city. . .

F) And finally, we had GrayStillPlays and more Minecraft! With – Dream, whoever the hell that is. O.o He was another upgradable companion, but he blew every other companion out of the water! By feeding him various substances (sticks as a baby, anvils as a teenager, diamonds as an adult, and blaze powder as a dragon), Gray not only got amazing loot, he also got amazing LANDSCAPES – this thing could will villages, shipwrecks, ocean monuments, bits of the Nether, and a whole freaking End Portal into existence! Gray did have to complete various “trials” to get these goodies – falling from a great height and surviving, hunting down a quartet of baby “Hunter” Dreams, stuff like that – but being as he’s GrayStillPlays and knows the ways of ludicrous amounts of zeroes. . .he ended up killing the Ender Dragon with a giant fuck-off Dreamsword that he gifted to Reginald before yeeting himself out of the End. XD I have – no idea what the hell was going on here (I think it was referencing Minecraft memes I’m not familiar with), but hell if it wasn’t a fun ride! XD

3. Play Sims 4 and start the Wheatley/Chell/Geeker Week: Check! Went into this after watching Plumbella – set everyone’s likes and dislikes when I arrived, then tried to figure out what I wanted them to do for the day. They were all up in the middle of the night, so they slept in a little late to go to Chell’s bakery, and Wheatley didn’t have work (also, I haven’t a chance of maxing out his career – I mistakenly thought he was farther along, but he’s only at level 7. Still aiming for at least one promotion, though!). After flipping through various aspirations, I decided to have Chell throw a dinner party for a few friends to get some more reward points for the chef aspiration. It was fairly chaotic, with Sims constantly getting up and moving around (damn musical chairs-style socializing!), but with some impeccable-quality camper’s stew (what, it’s what she wanted to make!) and coffee, Chell was still able to earn the necessary silver and a new pot rack. :) I’ll take it!

4. Get in a workout: Check – back on the bike today, and back to Jon’s Original FO4 Playthrough! Started Episode 11 today, with Miss Jon on her way to rescue Nick Valentine at last! Which involved walking through Boston Common!

Which involved encountering Swann, the Super Mutant Behemoth.

Yeaaah, Past!Jon was a bit confused, and then more than a bit surprised when he started taking pot-shots at what he thought was some sort of mutated swan and got THAT. However, to his credit? HE ACTUALLY MANAGED TO KILL SWANN. Yes, Miss Jon’s weapons were JUST GOOD ENOUGH that, with the help of a critical and some headshots, she was able to take him out before he took her out, and take his Furious Power Fist. She then picked up a load of rads from wading across his pond after Dogmeat looking for goodies, but Miss Jon was more than allowed to use Rad-Away in her run, so it wasn’t a HUGE deal. XD

With THAT out of the way, she finally descended into Park Street Station, shooting her way past all the Triggermen and their tommy guns (including one Legendary who had, of all things, a Berserker’s Tire Iron on him – bleeeh), and finally taking out Dino the guard and actually cracking Valentine out of his “cage” in the Overseer’s office! And then ignored him for like five minutes as Past!Jon looted and listened to the interview of “Soupcan Harry” for Overseer of the Vault (this vault was going to be taking a bunch of rich people used to luxury and putting them into a cramped, underfurnished vault with little privacy, under the care of an anti-authoritarian Overseer just to see how they’d cope. Harry, being the kind of guy who would eat Abraxo just because the box warned him not to, was considered perfect for the job), annoying both myself AND Nick. XD Finally Past!Jon actually LOOKED at Nick and had the “what hello he’s a synth” reaction, and Nick finally got the reason why Miss Jon was looking for him in the first place, satisfying us both. I left it with them preparing to try and get OUT of the Vault – given Miss Jon has chemmed up Mama Murphy quite a bit for hints and whatnot, I suspect that she’s gonna be able to use the special speech option to end this without bloodshed! Though you never know with Past!Jon. :p

Additionally:

-->Answered my FF.net friend’s PM – only took me three days this time, yay. :p But yeah, that’s all set, out of the inbox, one less thing to worry about.

-->I know I didn’t make it an official to-do list item because it was supposed to storm, but I did get some queue stuff done for Victor Luvs Alice – finally did an official write-up for one of my silly post ideas (Ed Sheeran getting a cameo in the Downtown portion of my “Londerland Bloodlines” stuff), and did the drafts for the two posts that will make up this upcoming week’s Newcrest Adventures update. Yay progress!

So yeah, that's all good, isn't it? :) And I've got some thread stuff going on Valice Multiverse right now, along with a DW comment to answer, so. . . Let's get tomorrow's to-dos sorted!

1. Work some more on my Sims 4 challenges

2. Keep up on YouTube Subs, watch the OXBox video game music quiz in my Watch Later, watch Jon's latest FO4 YOLO episode

3. Play more Bloodlines and start the Downtown stuff

4. Get in a workout

5. Work on tumblr queues

I think I should be able to manage that! One hopes, anyway. . .night all!
