A Productive Saturday
Sep. 4th, 2021 11:16 pmGranted, most of it was productive in the sense of me cleaning my room and whatnot, but still. Gotta be done, and glad to have it over with for another couple of weeks! The nice weather helps too -- lovely and dry out there, and warm enough without being "blah, hot." I would like it to stay like this for as long as possible, please!
Anyway, let's go-over the to-dos:
1. Clean my room and do the big laundry pile: Check! Started the room clean at 11:15 AM, ended at 2:30 PM with a short break for lunch roughly in the middle. As usual, the laundry took a little longer (especially since we were drying it on the clothesline today), but it all got done eventually!
2. Keep up with YouTube Subs; watch Carl's "Spa Day Refresh Livestream" highlights video: Check! Having only a few videos to keep up with is good for a day where you’re mostly doing household chores, I must admit –
A) Started with Carl’s highlights video – turns out I was wrong about how many aspirations are coming with the Spa Day refresh. There’s not two – THERE’S THREE. ALL IN THEIR OWN FREAKING WELLNESS CATEGORY! O.O The HELL. Granted, apparently they’re of the “pack walkthrough” variety, but screw it, that’s amazing! There’s also the new “High Maintenance” trait, the ability to “busk” massage and manicure services with the new portable versions of massage chairs and tables, the ability to act as a yoga instructor with a yoga instructor mat, toddlers and children being allowed to do yoga and meditate, and the new “nails” category, that you can use in CAS or have Sims get at the hand/foot massage chair. And there’s even a special sub-category of nails made by a custom content creator. It’s all looking – pretty good? I’m withholding final judgment until the actual refresh comes out on the 7th, but – it’s definitely better than we’ve gotten in the past! Maybe there’s hope yet for Dine Out getting fixed. . .
B) Then, this evening, we started with a Fun With Shorts – looks like Josh “unlocked” one of his previous Patreon-exclusives for the masses, “Skipper Learns A Lesson!” In a world without parents, Skipper the racist dog learns not to be a racist, basically. XD It’s goofy, silly fun, and while it has a decent message, it was also prime for Josh’s riffs about pet nationalism and the like. Good stuff!
C) Then it was over to Call Me Kevin for a run through Spore, trying to recreate humanity! This involved going straight to the “creature” stage and creating a species of armless carnivores with big googly eyes and insectoid pincers. And things only got worse from there. XD Chad, Chad Junior, and Cletus (as Kevin nicknamed each generation) just got creepier and creepier, from gaining actual arms, to more human-like eyes with eyelids, to a reptilian nose and mouth, to weed-like hair and a coat coloring looking like a shirt and pants. XD They were definitely very human in the way they treated their neighbors, though! In that they worked very hard to make them all extinct. XD No chowing on apples for them – their modus operandi was to befriend, then chomp, all neighboring species. And it worked out well for them, as they drove three separate ones extinct before finding a new, bigger nesting site! How nice. XD We’ll see if these horror shows ever make a repeat appearance – I kinda hope they do.
D) And then we had GrayStillPlays, playing another GTA V special level where he grows up from captured child to murderous elder, fighting his way through a complex of both people and aliens (these ones spewing vomit) – this time on a flooded earth! Yes, the aquatic ones from beyond the stars have taken over, and only Gray – in the form of various ages of Florida Man – can stop them via copious amounts of shooting everyone who gets in his way. Except the cafeteria worker, as he respects food service people. XD And also he got to drive a YEET-mobile underwater. Just another day in GTA for Gray, really!
3. Play Sims 4 and take Chell, Wheatley, and Geeker to GeekCon: Check! Wheatley took a vacation day, then, after a bit of noodling around (Wheatley’s nearly maxed Logic now, while Chell increased her Charisma after flirting with him a bit and Geeker got more Handiness), the gang ended up heading to the con with Geeker’s boyfriend Dario after his friend Faith called and asked if he’d like to work on the rocket there! Geeker himself didn’t actually end up working on the rocket, though he DID participate in the Hackathon and the Ultimate Gaming Test. Won first place and the Immersive Bend computer from the former, and $100 and a Future Cube from the latter. He also woohooed with Dario in the rocket, so he wasn’t COMPLETELY left out of that side of things. XD Meanwhile, Wheatley and Chell helped build the second rocket up a bit, then Chell played some games and bought the Emily the Sea Monster snowglobe while Wheatley did a bit of Karaoke at the nearby bar. Geeker got himself a festival t-shirt before leaving for work, and then I sent Chell and Wheatley home before everything disappeared. Chell did some painting, Wheatley some joke-writing, it was all good. :) Except for the weather – I SWEAR, it is ALWAYS thunderstorming in Newcrest! Sheesh. . .at least in-game Wednesday and thus SimCity Founding is supposed to be sunny!
4. Work some more on the Fallout 4-themed Sims Challenge: Check – I have revised the challenge so that you have to update ALL residential lots in Brindleton Bay, because I am a bit of a bitch. XD No, seriously, I thought that it was more true to the game if you had to update all of them, even if people are already living there. I’ve updated the rules accordingly and have been beating them with a stick ever since, trying to make sure I’ve got everything covered (like how you can buy walls in build mode, but you should really try to scavenge or build your own beds). I’m also wondering if it’s possible to make the “Diamond City” marketplace I was originally thinking of, with a grocery stall or the like – so I think I might be doing a “test run” of that in my building save tomorrow! Gives me something to do, and it should serve as a good “starter” for when I do the challenge myself. :)
Additionally:
-->Beanbags were again played today because of the good weather – I got 3-W-3-2-W, Dad got 2-2-W-W-2, and Mom got W-3-2-3-3. Yeah, poor Mom definitely fell down after her great scores yesterday, but we did all win one, which is good. And I got two, so that makes me happy. :D
-->Got the next set of pictures for the next upcoming Newcrest Adventures update sorted last night, yay!
Not bad, not bad at all. :) And I've got some active threading going on over at Valice Multiverse, along with some conversation with Squid, so I'd better get back to that. Let's do a quick to-do for tomorrow --
1. Write some more on "Learn To Love Again"
2. Keep up on YouTube Subs, watch Jon's Cookie Clicker and FO4 YOLO vids
3. Play Sims 4 and see about setting up a "test run" marketplace for my FO4 Sims Challenge in the Building Save
4. Get in a workout
5. Prep some tumblr queues
Feels reasonable! Hopefully I won't lose too much of my day to Sims Building Trance. XD Night all!
