Guess What Came Today?
Oct. 14th, 2021 11:27 pmMy Fallout 4 Vault Suit! Yeah, it actually arrived a day BEFORE the earliest arrival time! And this thing apparently literally came from China! O.o While they've merely printed a shipping label for the Pip-Boy we bought off a different site. . .well, hopefully that'll come soon, but at least I've got the main costume! It's not a fancy one, but it's got the right Vault Number on the back, and it looks comfy enough to wear for long periods. I think it'll do nicely for Halloween. :)
As for the rest of my day, that's what the to-do list is for:
Work – Stressful – a surprising number of credit card calls coming in today – but I actually ended up wiping a good few things off my list by the end of it, so I actually ended the day in a halfway-decent mood. Making ANY progress on stuff has felt like a chore this week, so I’m happy to have cleared up some items on my to-dos!
Beanbags – Yes – my parents were actually out today (antique place, they got some sort of giant wheel or gear or something for the yard), but they got back in time for us to play. To my eventual delight, because I got W-2-W today. XD Mom got 3-W-3, and poor Dad got 2-3-2. Not a good way to break your “all or nothing” streak! We’ll see if he’s any better tomorrow.
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check – another thirty on the bike, another roughly half-hour with L.A. By Night, “Mortal Stakes!” The group has met with Baron Isaac Abrams, who has decided to move his office to a secret basement level in some high rise (guess the jewelry shop wasn’t doing enough business). Annabelle did not present herself particularly well, though at least she didn’t bow (given that Nelli was trying to make her embarrass herself in front of the Anarchs). Isaac provided a few answers about what she is and what Kindred society is like out of the kindness of his dead heart, noted that at one point Annabelle, trying to explain what she’d figured out on her own about her condition, said “we” (and then tried to cover it up unsuccessfully), and then, with a few veiled threats about how he wasn’t happy that the other three let this (a new vampire being Embraced without permission and then feeding on people) happen in their territory, assigned Victor, Nelli, and Jasper to be her “teachers” and sent them to visit the “witch” at Griffith Observatory (member of clan Tremere, we don’t know exactly who right now). The others are rather sour at Annabelle making more work for them, but – well. As Jasper put it, they work for him because otherwise it’s being left out for the dawn. Left it with them in the car as Jasper actually started to explain clans to Annabelle (Isaac didn’t bother), and I want to punch Abrams because he hinted she might become human again if she kills her Sire quickly enough, which – MIGHT be an option for thin-bloods, but definitely isn’t for her. Asshole.
2. Write some more on "Learn To Love Again": Check – finished up the first chunk of Chapter 6, with Alice meeting Victor at their usual haunt, only for him to tell her that they’re leaving this afternoon. Alice is naturally sad about this, but decides to lighten the mood by saying he should come visit her in Wonderland, and a bit of friendly discussion about where he should go if he tries – the Village of the Doomed, basically – ensues. Now, neither of them actually expects anything to come of this, besides Victor maybe having some Wonderland-themed dreams, but after the scene break, they’re both in for a surprise. . .
3. Keep up with YouTube Subscriptions: Check – simple two-in, two-out day (I got into the Subs a bit late and both were long) –
A) Started with James Turner and Episode 9 of the “Every Lot Challenge Challenge!” Things remain chaotic (and filthy, even without that particular Challenge active), but actually, things aren’t going too badly for the Renrut family. Jasmin is doing decently in college – she already completed both her term paper and her presentation before attending a single day of class, and she’s been keeping up diligently on her homework (though she did miss a class getting too into that). The toddlers Chi and Donnell have been keeping themselves largely amused – hell, Donnell managed to max out a couple of skills all on his own! And they’re due to grow up in one day, which should help some. The babies Micah and Greyson were – well, babies, but they got their own nursery instead of having to share, and they aged up to toddlers by the end of the episode, so that’s good. And Semaj – well, Semaj was busy! He completed another goal for the Nerd Brain aspiration (fixing or upgrading five objects) and used the aspiration points to get the “free services” trait (which not only makes maids, gardeners, and nannies to clean up the place and take care of the children free, but apparently ALSO makes delivery services such as Zoomers free! Which really helps offset having the “Simple Living” lot challenge), AND he got a promotion, going into the Investor branch of the business career to become a Futures Trader! Which, of course, meant the removal of a challenge! James found a nice new wheel to use to substitute for the old random number generator. . .
And the wheel picked “Gremlins.” Which has literally never been active except for like the first couple of days because it only fires if everyone is asleep at midnight, and that hasn’t happened since the pets and the ghosts. XD James was sour. But hey, things are still ticking along pretty well – we’ve even added laundry to the things that everyone needs to take care of! Which, given Semaj is leaving his clothes EVERYWHERE, is just inspiring James to complete that aspiration to change one of his traits. . .we’ll see how well that goes next time!
B) And then moved onto Call Me Kevin and more of his “One Chunk Challenge” in Minecraft! Things are going decently well on the chunk – Kevin has moved his farm underground, growing oodles of wheat and a few precious carrots next to his upgraded pig pen. He even managed to make said pigs reproduce, once he finally found the right time to harvest said carrots! Yay sustainable meat! XD He also had an interesting idea to help defend against mobs – build boats around his property! Because apparently zombies and creepers will just – sit in them. Allowing Kevin to kill them at his leisure or just leave them for the sun. Which is good, because there a LOT more mobs around these days! Kevin had a close call with a few wandering creepers not interested in a shipfaring life (one of which exploded his OLD farm) – and then the ENDERMEN started moving in. And the phantoms, which apparently show up when you don’t sleep for long enough, and – well. The sheep remain tantalizingly out of reach of the chunk. Poor Kevin. . .all he wants is a place to rest his weary head! And maybe the local traders to not only want emeralds for the crap they’re carrying. XD
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check – again, took some time, as the only ask in my inbox was one that I couldn’t come up with a good answer for, and I ended up resorting to reblogs of some fandom stuff. When in doubt!
And yeah, that about sums up the evening -- and midnight is looming, so I've really gotta head to bed. Glad tomorrow's Friday -- even if I have a cleaning Saturday this weekend, at least I can stay up a little later! Night all!
