crossover_chick: gif with Doc and Marty trying to get out of being written into twisted AUs (Default)
Chilly day (with our first real frost), but at least the commute wasn't too bad, and as days go in general, it could have been worse. But it's getting late and I'm fighting my brain's tendency to deal with stress by retreating into daydreams/rereading my own fanfics, so let's get up the to-do list and head to bed --

Work – Meh – reasonably quiet, at least, but I did spend most of my day prepping for the bullshit of the credit card meeting tomorrow (that was supposed to happen Wednesday, but then one of the key players had an accident and it had to be moved). And discovering yet MORE problems, because it’s a never-ending thing with them. . . *sigh* At least I’m only one day out from the weekend.

Beanbags – No, and NOW I think I can retire this particular list item – it was just too cold and too cloudy today, and after Saturday, it’s going to get dark too early to make playing viable after work. We’ll probably continue to play on weekends if the weather’s nice enough, but it’s not a “standard” thing anymore.

To-Do List

1. Get in a workout: Check, getting back on the bike – but NOT back to L.A. By Night. I decided I wanted a break, however brief, and instead watched a bit of Sims stuff – a video by Carl’s Sims Guides about his new “difficulty mod” for Sims 4 (currently he’s trying to halve all income sources, make bills higher, and increase the severity of negative emotions – though he’s already had to make some tweaks as I guess people weren’t keen on nearly dying from just pissing their pants); and one by “WhinyBrit” about the evolution of the lore in Sims 4 (going through all the premade families per pack – I didn’t finish it, but I got the gist pretty well – most of the early lore is basically a joke, blurbs not supported by in-game relationships, and it took until about the releases of Snowy Escape and Cottage Living to properly get some drama into the pre-made Sims). Nothing too special to pass the time, but it was nice!

2. Write some more on “Learn To Love Again”: Check! We’ve started Chapter 6 – Victor’s swung by Emily’s final resting spot to symbolically give her an update and natter on to himself on how he’s going to actually reach the Land of the Dead again. And, after some thought, he figured he might as well rule out “just willing myself down there” as an option – only to discover that it WORKED. He’s going to be thrilled! . . .for three seconds, and then the “you just broke the barrier between life and death with your MIND” exhaustion is going to set in. XD

3. Keep up with YouTube Subscriptions: Check – another easy one as this is another "one lonely video so let's catch up on the Watch Later" day –

A) Today is “no James or Gray” day, so I decided to catch up on my Linkara instead, with the 13th anniversary episode of AT4W – a look at the “Web of Death” storyline! This was what was going on with Peter while Ben Reilly was trying to make a new life for himself, and – well. Basically he’d gotten infected with a weird chemical virus thanks to the vulture, was trying to websling it off because he couldn’t accept he was dying, and then passed out on a rooftop – to be found by Doc Ock. ...who was so tired of Peter’s “dark and broody emo bullshit” at the time (think our beloved Gloomy Spidey as played by Tobey Maguire turned up to twelve) that – after making sure Spider-Man wasn’t faking by sending his girlfriend (a lady who went around projecting a hard-light hologram of what she’d really like to be, named Stunner) out to beat him up a bit – took him home and managed to cure him. Took two tries – first attempt only took care of the symptoms, and Doc Ock had to lure him back to the lab for his second attempt – but he managed to do it, got Peter back to his wisecracking webslinger self, and even turned himself over to the police, confident that Stunner would break him out and then he and Spidey could go back to their usual status quo, as he really liked having Peter as a foil.

And then Kane broke into his transport and killed him. Leaving Stunner to sob over the body. Yeaaaah. Also, for that extra bit of gut-punch, considering Peter’s status quo in comics today? This was the storyline where Mary Jane learned she was pregnant. Peter’s half of the story ends with him building a crib with her. Awwww. Linkara said that the story had some good bits, and he likes this Ock who respects Peter, but that it also shows off one of the worst parts of the Clone Saga – the PADDING. WAY too much standing around talking to comatose Aunt May for his liking. Ah well – at least it wasn’t the WORST the Saga’s thrown at him, not by a long shot. And I’m looking forward to seeing whose origin he’s covering next week for Secret Origins Month!

B) Then, because I could and it was short, I also watched Plumbella’s latest – a trip through the “Too Many Toddlers” scenario! After a false start where she got ready to record hours before the scenario actually RELEASED, she managed to hop into the game, make a save of herself and three toddlers inspired by her new “Narcissa” hairstyle, and redid their house to make the main room the “toddler skilling room.” It took six days of grinding (including one field trip over to Henford-on-Bagley to use the one children’s playground area that naturally includes toddler stuff), but eventually all the toddlers got four skills up to three, and the scenario was complete! It wasn’t really anything more than having the toddlers grind for skills (someone over on Sims Community did this whole thing in three in-game days), but Plumbella seemed to have fun, and that’s the main thing. :) (Even if I’m slightly suspicious that Miss “I play with short lifespans and on three-times speed all the time” MIGHT have turned aging off just to make sure she DID complete it. XD Hey, she was more than willing to cheat in tons of money, sooo. . .)

C) And then it was over to Call Me Kevin and Minecraft “Two Chunk Challenge!” :D Today in the chonks, Kevin allowed himself a real treat – a DIAMOND pickax. So he could mine stuff without it taking fifty million years. XD He also finally got a hatchable egg out of his chicken, and set about building a chicken army; culled the pig army a little bit, and had one baby rascal follow him down into the mines, prompting him to build a little pig solitary down there for it once it grew up; built himself a tent and campfire on the hill on the second chunk for a “home away from home” (I mean, it’s all of ten feet away, but still); built himself a new mob-spawning room next to his wheat farm; tried fishing up more treasure but only got fish; and killed a few Endermen, getting some more pearls and making him seriously consider figuring out a way to go to The End from his chunks. :D A fun little episode overall – I’m really liking this spontaneous LP that’s developed! I like this sort of fun survival challenge stuff. :)

4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check – only had Valice Multiverse to worry about, and that was three ask replies and a surprise starter for the friend whose birthday is coming up and wanted to do a thread about the very thing I wrote about. Uhhh. . .I may have to rejigger my fic a bit. ^^;

Okay, and that's it for Thursday -- now, I just have to remember to get the 10:04 timestamp tomorrow. . .night all!
