crossover_chick: picture of Alice (Wonderland) in front of the swirling purple Wonderland tunnel (AMA: Alice down the rabbit hole)
Had some rough moments, but a fairly quiet evening to help destress, so I guess it all balanced out in the end. As per the usual form --

Work – Eh – had a nasty commute in (some idiot stopping in front of me to yell at another driver on the highway, and then some really inconvenient road construction along my usual route), and as usual none of the credit card stuff is actually fixed, but it was a relatively quieter day, and I was able to get a few things done, so. . .could have been worse. We’ll see how Tuesday stacks up!

To-Do List

1. Get in a workout: Check – another day on the bike, and another day with The Spiffing Brit, watching a reasonably recent video in which he built a city in SimCity (2013 – yes, that one, with DLC) that was ENTIRELY RESIDENTIAL. No shops, no water, no power, no sewage – the only things allowed that were not houses were a town hall, some tourist attractions, a megatower, parks, and Nissan Leaf Charging Stations! Yes, because that was a real DLC the game offered – and it’s broken to hell because it automatically makes all of your citizens happier without using up resources (notably, you don’t need to POWER the damn thing). Spiff of course abused this to make his citizens happy despite their terrible, powerless lives in a city that proved very prone to fires. XD Along with manipulating the taxes so he could lure people in with super-low taxes, then hit them for a bunch of money at once to fill up his own bank account. Anything that made the people happier without him having to build things like schools and wind turbines! XD Video ended with him deciding the people of “New Starbucks, Australia” should be put out of their misery and inflicting a series of disasters upon them, ranging from meteor strikes to a giant robot stomping around the city. XD Good times, good times. . . I also took a quick peek at the official World of Darkness channel’s “Gentleman’s Guide to Vampires,” but it seems a touch dull, so I think I’ll stick with Spiff for the foreseeable future.

2. Work on final edits for Chapter 2 of “Londerland Bloodlines”: Check – made some more good progress, with Alice meeting Knox (and already getting the feeling he’s setting her up for something); Vandal (who sells blood at too high of a price for her tastes); the nurse at the clinic (who can’t give her morphine but has given her a good tip as to where she can pick some up); and Mark Bremerkamp (aka everyone’s favorite piss-man to feed off of in the alley by the Asylum). I’ve left it off with her about to meet Trip to pick up Mercurio’s painkillers. Only about five, six pages to go according to my LibreWriter doc! I might actually be able to finish this up tomorrow, and then just post it on Wednesday! Wouldn’t that be nice. . .

3. Keep up with YouTube Subscriptions: Check – two in, two out, two bonus, yay –

A) James is still on “occasional videos,” so again I turned to Plumbella for my Sims video of the night – or videos, as I had two waiting for me, both about “Harry Styles In The Perfectly-Well-Rounded Scenario:”

I. “the Perfectly Well Rounded scenario is my villain origin story” – Part 2 of Harry trying to become perfectly well-rounded, involving a lot of all nighters to build up various skills! Plumbella ended up choosing cooking to be his third skill to build up, and after fighting with the kitchens she made him because he wouldn’t actually finish anything that required baking (she’d forgotten that the separate oven from Dream Home Decorator doesn’t work if you put it under the separate stovetop), she just bought him a chef station to spam meals at. And then had him throw a dinner party, which actually went quite well! He also spent a night in Magnolia Blossom Park to get his piano skill up on his keyboard and entertain the masses, and brawled with a few people while making friends. Made it to level 6 in his three skills (Cooking, Piano, Singing), and got three friends! Not too shabby!

II. “i completed the Scenario but it has, in fact, killed me. lol” – Part 3 of Harry trying to become perfectly well-rounded, which was basically “grind skills, grind friendships, grind aspiration, grind EVERYTHING.” Because Plumbella foolishly chose the “Musical Genius” aspiration to complete, which requires you to write four songs, and SONGWRITING IS THE LONGEST ACTIVITY EVER IN THE SIMS 4. You can Stephen King your way through multiple books in the time it takes you to write a single song. But she did manage it, by forcing Harry to sit at his new piano for ages and ages. And then stand in front of his chef station. And then go to the park to mentor someone who randomly started playing on his keyboard. And then, FINALLY, stand in front of his microphone to sing. Poor girl took 17 in-game days to complete the scenario, and for someone who generally does just one-episode quick looks at stuff, this was a SLOG for her. Jesse, never do a Super Sim – that would REALLY kill you.

B) Then it was over to Call Me Kevin for some more The GTA Trilogy: Definitive Edition fun – this time with their version of San Andreas! Where everyone looks like an even creepier version of a Sims 2-style Sim. With worse hair. And gigantic bottles of ketchup. XD Kevin did a few missions with his pirate-in-underpants CJ – saving his future girlfriend Denise from the house he himself was burning down in the gang war against the Ballas; taking Denise on very awkward dates (including drive-bys – her idea); provoking gang wars and then avoiding police retaliation by hanging onto a wall (until one of them finally just started shooting); breaking up a gun deal by flinging his car at an explosive forklift, then jacking another one to chase down the Russian arms dealer he needed to kill (this – did not go well. Fortunately the attempt where he used the bike finally completed the mission); helping Sweet kill a few more gang members; and repeatedly spending all his money on horse-racing before dumping both a guy he was supposed to assassinate and his own girlfriend into the ocean off the pier. All that and we only ran into a few glitches – mostly desynced animation weirdness. XD These remasters may be a bit of a garbage fire, but I’m glad to see Kevin’s having fun with them!

C) And finally, surprisingly late but still here, we had GrayStillPlays and another Episode story! This one all about Floridus Budlighton – oh, I’m sorry, KING Floridus Budlighton, who declared himself such over the poor group of castaways who got stuck with him when their cruise ship crashed by a desert island. We had Megan, the pregnant lady, who spent most of the time grieving her dead husband; Donna, the cruise ship captain, who was put into a shockingly-well-constructed cage by Floridus when he decided to imprison her for sassing him; Jessica, the cute redhead who ended up dying when she ate poisonous berries; Curtis, the botanist who could identify poisonous berries but not do much else; and Max, the guy who was only too happy to turn to cannibalism. Their adventures included the death of Jessica; a swim in corpse-infested waters (with a sailboat in the background, no less); an attempt at sailing off the island in a metal raft made by Curtis which ended up sinking; an attempt to swim back to civilization that ended up with them swimming in a circle back to the island; and eventually, eating Curtis because he looked sneaky and also the traitor had a waterproof phone (which Floridus took to take awesome selfies). Weirdly enough, everyone else survived – Megan even had a healthy baby, which seemed against the odds! Gray was confused, but generally amused by the ridiculousness. XD I’m glad this game has come back – there’s always something so delightfully super-weird with this one. XD

4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check – got the two posts for this Wednesday’s build update sorted (I ended up having fourteen pictures I liked, not just ten), and stuck a couple of cool Alice fanarts into my drafts for later reblogging. :)

Not too shabby! And now it's time to get to bed at a slightly better hour than normal and get some sleep. Still got all of Tuesday to make it through, after all. Just very glad this week is on the shorter side. . . Night all!
