crossover_chick: Doc snoozing on his couch (BTTF: exhausted)
As it got late much faster than I was expecting --

Work – Rather Monday the 13th, at least to start – long, complicated GL with lots of little bits to gather; lots of phone calls coming in (and the one I didn’t pick up is the one I SHOULD have picked up); having to deal with another of my annoying chatty coworkers. Also more credit card nonsense, but that’s just kind of standard at this point. I did what I could, fixed what I could. Hopefully things improve from here!

To-Do List

1. Get in a workout: Check – back on the bike today, and onto the next Oxventure, “Brawl of the Wild!” (According to the Oxventure Guild Wiki, the start of “Season Two” of the Oxventures!) An indeterminate amount of time after their last adventure, the gang was in a tavern, having a quiet drink (with Dob, of course, spending much more of their money than necessary) when who should appear but the Wizard Binbag! After some banter (Corazon in particular seems to hate him), Binbag informed them of something evil happening in the deep woods east of them, where animals were being driven mad and killing people. The others were like, “Oh, Merilwen adventure, you want to take care of that?” but she managed to talk them into coming with, and Binbag transported them to the woods, to meet with the Professor and their assistant Yetta Lage. (Who is POSSIBLY from Fantasy Wales but Johnny’s accent is – indeterminate. XD) The Professor was busy doing testing in a fantasy hazmat suit that cunningly hid their face from view, but was able to communicate through Yetta that they wanted their help in capturing one of the essentially-fantasy-rabid animals so they could run some tests and maybe figure out what was going on. Apparently the squirrels alone have killed 44 people. O.o So the gang, along with Yetta, traipsed into the creepy, creepy woods (not actually helped by Corazon casting Dancing Lights), then found a clearing where Dob (having flavored himself to taste of cat food) lay down as bait and the others found places to hide. Corazon smashed making himself a ghillie suit and became invisible against the forest floor; Merilwen used Mark of the Wild to conceal herself in a bush; Egbert attempted to climb a tree, failed, hurt himself, then managed to make it up another, better tree with the help of some rope; and Prudence snapped a branch off a nearby tree and stood behind it. XD

And then – the boar came. A boar foaming green at the mouth, who very much was interested in taking Dob away to eat until Merilwen tried to talk to him. Not even Animal Friendship worked against this beast, who body-checked Merilwen out of her bush and clear across the clearing into a tree – though, thanks to a low roll by Johnny, she only took a single point of damage. (She promptly credited being a “Wood” Elf. XD) Dob started trying to make a harness in an attempt to ride it and either tire it out or tame it; Corazon found some berries and got super-high; Egbert TRIED to leap onto it with his shield to pin it, but insisted on doing a sick backflip in the process – and when he rolled way too low, he took another six points of damage as he totally bungled his leap. Which leaves Prudence, who – naturally – is going for the Eldritch Blast. XD Merilwen is desperately trying to remind her “we need the boar ALIVE,” but we’ll see what happens. XD

2. Keep editing gift fics: Substitution check – my friend DarkCountess over on FF.net got back to me, and thus I got the prompt for her holiday gift fic! She wanted a sequel to last year’s fic, where Secundus!Victor and Alice met her Leo and Klaus from her “Blood Blockade Battlefront” fics. That fic featured Klaus WAY overkilling a Snark with his Blood Battle Techniques, so naturally this year is them sharing stories about their adventures in their respective cities – Hellsalem’s Lot for her pair, Secundus for mine. Whipped up a decent rough draft, I think! Now I don’t have that hanging over my head as I finish my other edits. :)

3. Keep up with YouTube Subscriptions: Check, though I actually have to add something to this going forward – as per the first item –

A) Ho Ho Ho, it’s the Outside XBox Xmas Challenge! :D Yes, it’s finally that time of year again – the time where Mike, Andy, and Jane compete in challenges to determine who is Christmas Champion! :D Today’s challenge was for last year’s champion Mike (and sponsored by Duracell) – it’s Merry Kickmas in Deathloop! What does that mean? Why, it means Mike, as main character Colt, must go kick a Visionary (one of the main villains you’re supposed to kill) of his choosing (not necessarily in the butt, but it was kind of taken as given), then escape the ensuing chaos back to the tunnels. Due to Colt having a special item that brings him back twice when he’s killed, Mike technically got three tries at this – on Andy’s advice, he chose Visionary Harriet, a cult leader who operates out of an airplane hangar (apparently one of the easier ones to defeat), and set about getting over to her.

He promptly, via the “Blink” teleport power, got himself stuck behind a crate. XD Took him a while to glitch his way to freedom, and by that point, he’d alerted everyone in the damn level. He did his best with his “puking gas” gun, but he got gunned down outside the hangar. . .and then got gunned down inside it when he tried to sneak in. He booted a few people out of the way and managed to get over to Harriet’s private area, where he waited out her speech on a high rafter before sprinting across her converted plane pulpit into her room, where he managed to kick everyone but her at first. But eventually he put his foot up her rear – only to promptly run into gas and die. XD Oh dear. . .loop over for Colt, and no point for Mike. *pats him* Next time, buddy, next time. Tomorrow, we have Andy’s first challenge – hopefully a good one!

B) Then it was over to the Subs for Call Me Kevin and the return of a classic – Among Us! Yes, Kevin was literally Sus as he returned to one of his greatest addictions over 2020 – and promptly got badly confused by the fact that the game has had quite a few updates while he was away. Did you know there’s an Engineer role that can vent now? Kevin didn’t! Did you know that Engineer role has a cooldown on how often you can use the vent? Kevin didn’t! XD Much of the game was him just stumbling around trying to figure out what he was doing, making a few friends (in particular a nugget named Spedy), getting people to vote out anyone wearing shoes (or anyone shapeshifting on camera, not that he realized THAT was a thing either right away), and collecting vast quantities of beans. Yes, those are a thing now, apparently. Along with levels. O.o I think Kevin needs to play more of this game just so I can come to grips with all the new updates. XD

C) And then we had GrayStillPlays and Short Life 2 – an obstacle dodge game where you are a man walking along a variety of very dangerous environments because Reasons. Gray decided his reason was to get a beer and guided his men through ten levels of increasing torment. You had the hands slamming down to smash you with God’s hatred; you had the bear traps; you had the spinning razor blades embedded in the floor; you had the fork coming down to impale you; you had the chainsaw blade stalking you like Bruce from Jaws; you had arrows attached to balloons spearing you in the chest; you had miniguns that attempted to shoot you but Gray is just so awesome he refused to die. XD All these things and more Gray managed to avoid (mostly), getting three stars each time. (Literally, you collect them as you go through the level.) And even breaking the game once, getting his guy stuck in a walking loop while he was technically “lying down.” XD The things Gray will do for a Natty Lite. . .

4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check – text for this week’s Chill Save update (featuring Harvestfest and my ill-advised attempt to mess with MCCC numbers) all good! :) So that’s all sorted, at least. . .

So yeah, kind of a frustrating day at work (made worse by PMS), but a fairly productive and entertaining evening, so. . . *balances hands* Just four more days to go this week! Night all!
