Longish Friday
Dec. 17th, 2021 11:47 pmMostly thanks to commute troubles and trying to keep up on a few tabs' worth of stuff at the moment -- here, you'll see:
Work – Busy from the get-go day, with a few weird problems to solve and two things from our processing company – but I got it all done before the end of the day, and one of the things sent from the processors has given me a project to work on next week before my winter vacation, so I’m happy enough with that. Honestly, worst part of the day was definitely the commute home – there was SOMETHING that happened on the highway (I believe an accident at one of the exits I pass), and I ended up stuck on the road going past the back of my office for twenty minutes. Though, fortunately, it did not progress to the point where I had to cut through the city – traffic lightened once I got to the turn-off point, so while it took me roughly forty minutes to get home, I didn’t have to deal with city traffic on top of that. *sigh* At least it’s the weekend now!
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check – back on the bike today with my period tapering off, and onto the next Oxventure – “Heist Society!” The gang has found themselves in the near-city of Rutherford, and their adventure hook this time was meeting a man in the stocks. Corazon tried to throw an egg at him, but Dob caught it in time and put it in his papoose – they ended up talking to the man instead, and learned that – according to him – he’d been framed by the father of the woman he loves, who happens to be one of the founders of a local major jewel shop. Apparently the father, Hawthorne, did not find him worthy to be with his daughter Amelia, and accused him of stealing a valuable jewel, the Emerald Tear. And then threw a party celebrating the guy’s imminent demise. Dob (after confirming Amelia loved the man back) was all in favor of stopping Hawthorne from keeping those two apart, while Corazon was all for stealing the Emerald Tear for himself. XD They agreed to go to the party to see what they could find out, and the guy let them have the key to his costume shop (how convenient XD) to get themselves kitted up. Hilariously, they chose to go sort of as THEMSELVES, since Corazon said there were officially-licensed masks – Johnny ruled they could dress up as themselves (Corazon, Prudence)/each other (everyone else), but that the only masks they could find were the cheap knockoff versions (Corazon has sent many cease-and-desist firebombs, to no avail). They also found costumes – well, Dob already HAD one, a fancy electric blue tuxedo, but Prudence got a sexy Minion costume, Merilwen went as Deadpool, and Egbert found himself a fancy coat made out of eighty wolves because Merilwen said she was fine with fur. XD And then they got a carriage and horses, and Egbert poked them with super-heated claws to get them to the house on the hill faster. XD Merilwen was not happy, but managed to placate the horses by apologizing for him and promising them sugar cubes if they stopped outside the fancy entrance. Due to their speed, they ended up doing a wild spin on the front lawn, and Dob succeeded on an Athletics check to look cool coming out of the carriage, throwing the “horse keys” (a bag of oats, Johnny decided) to a valet. Who he then accused of stealing stuff when they had to confront the bouncer guarding the door, only for the bouncer to get a SEPARATE member of staff to go after the guy. . .Dob was horrified, and even MORE horrified when Johnny made a note of the valet’s predicament. XD Fortunately, Prudence decided to put her magic and her sexy Minion costume to work and managed to successfully Charm the guy guarding the velvet rope. We’ll see how their attempt to blend into a fancy party and save Stocks Man goes from there! XD
2. Start final edits on Chapter 3 of “Londerland Bloodlines: Santa Monica’s Vale Of Tears”: Check – glad I started today, too, the chapter’s 43 pages according to LibreWriter. O.o But yeah, making a start on Alice’s adventures on her third night as a vampire – starting with her visiting what I’ve dubbed the “Health Cross” clinic in Santa Monica on the hunt for werewolf blood. Have discovered to my annoyance the text editor for FF.net won’t let me keep in my fake e-mail addresses, but what can you do? Beyond edit them back in at the last minute before doing my copy-paste to AO3. . .anyway, just hit page seven in the LibreWriter doc and Alice invading Boyle’s office in the fic. Hoping to make good progress over the weekend!
3. Keep up with YouTube Subscriptions and the OXBox Xmas Challenge: Check – bit more to it today, but we still got through everything –
A) Started, of course, with Day Five of the OXBox Xmas Challenge, where Andy had the MLB The Show 21 “Home Run For The Holidays” Challenge! The premise was simple – hit one home run within ten minutes. The execution – Well. For starters, as a reminder, the entire OXBox team is British. And Andy in his joking intro made it clear he doesn’t actually know that much about baseball. Mike had to give him quite a few tutorial tips about power swinging.
. . .Andy hit three home runs in ten minutes. XD He played as the San Francisco Giants against the Los Angeles Dodgers over in Rockies Coors Field (as apparently that is the easiest place to hit a home run), and after a low hit with his first guy, got a home run right into the stands with his second guy’s second bat. And then just KEPT DOING IT, to Jane’s amazement and Mike’s shock and indignation. Apparently Andy is just really good at guessing the timing on these hits! Hell, he hit the third home run straight down the middle of the field into the fake Christmas scene set up on the far end. XD It was genuinely cool, and he has more than earned his first Christmas point. :D Now to see how Jane does tomorrow. . .
B) Then it was over to the Subs for Call Me Kevin and more Hardcore Minecraft One Chunk Challenge! Today’s project was improving the Mob Spawn Room – a difficult proposition, given the number of Creepers lurking about. XD Fortunately he was able to funnel just about everyone to the same little hole in the wall, and THEN he updated the room with something interesting – a spot right by the monster-luring windows that was full of water that would sweep monsters away, down a drop and into a little area where Kevin could kill them by swinging a sword at their feet. And it worked amazingly well – everything except the spiders were only too happy to leap into the water to die at the foot-gazing hole. XD Kevin’s goal is to collect arrows from the skeletons mainly, for later use in the end, and he’s already got like 24, plus a few bows. :D Military genius! He’s also continued expanding his chicken farm (the meat one, not the egg one), and he’s started building a treehouse for him to go AFK in so mobs can spawn. :D So far, things are going shockingly well! Now if only he could pick up some useful ores. . .
C) Then it was over to GrayStillPlays for more hacked Solar Smash fun! XD Today was “let’s change all the numbers on the meteor shower/asteroid shower disaster to make it basically a space shotgun, or possibly a space railgun. And see how overpopulated we can make our planets.” Turns out a giant cluster of about 100 asteroids per click was the most controllable; even taking all the damage values down to ZERO won’t make them damn things bounce; you can bring the population up to just under 100 trillion, but the moment you start doing things most of those people will die; 10,000 asteroids will make the game break; Jupiter will just EAT the damn things and not break a sweat; and Gray is capable of using asteroids and the space laser to shape the Earth into a heart before blasting it straight through the center with his “rail gun.” XD And you should have heard him cackling throughout most of it – Gray is clearly having WAAAY too much fun with this game right now. XD
D) And finally, back to Christmas with Fun With Shorts and “The Christmas Party!” A completely wordless funny animals cartoon about a family of animals who contact Santa to tell them their present wishes, only for Santa to get his sack stolen out of the back of his motorized sleigh by a cat who saw somebody ask for a cake and decide to take it for himself. The rest of the short is the hijinks involved in retrieving said sack, including getting the help of a boxing dog to give the stealing cat his comeuppance. It was very weird, and had terrible music – meaning it was perfect for a Christmas riff from Josh! XD Ah, spirit of the season, at least in this house.
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Uh – ended up N/A tonight, as I had no asks or thread replies to do on Valice Multiverse, and didn’t have any fandom stuff that interested me enough to reblog. And of course Victor Luvs Alice is already set. . . *shrug* Quiet night is quiet on that front! On the other hand, I’m being kept quite busy enough with tumblr friend messaging right now, so. . .
So yeah, busy night, but at least I got a lot done! And as I am still quite busy, let's get the to-dos for tomorrow sorted and head out again:
1. Continue working on final edits on Chapter 3 of “Londerland Bloodlines: Santa Monica’s Vale Of Tears”
2. Keep up with YouTube Subs, OXBox Xmas Challenge, OXtra Xmas Challenge, and OX lists
3. Play Sims 4 and add in the Cute Romance mod to the Chill Save
4. Get in a workout
I think that'll do for a noncleaning Saturday! Especially one that's supposed to have absolutely miserable weather. . .we'll see how it goes! Night all!
