crossover_chick: Doc in goggles and holding a big old plug with the words "feeling sparky..." (BTTF: feeling sparky/creative)
Official spring isn't until this Sunday, but damn if it didn't already feel like it today. 70s, sunny, not too much wind -- I actually cracked my window open at work for a bit to get some fresh air! Not something I normally do, mostly because the windows at work don't have screens. . .but as this is before major bug season, I figured I was safe. :p

The rest of the day was actually pretty nice as well:

Work – Much quieter – mostly because not only was one of my coworkers out, the other one left for a noon doctor’s appointment and ended up having a follow-up appointment right afterward, so she never came back. A couple of phone calls, cleaning up some other credit card messes, doing the GL and the transaction reports – that was basically my day. Rather nice to have a more chill Friday!

And, because the weather was so good, we pulled out the beanbag game for an afternoon when I got home! Better yet, we all won a game – I had 3-2-W, Dad had 2-W-2, and Mom W-3-3. Not too shabby! :) Dunno when we’ll next get to play – tomorrow’s supposed to be pretty damn rainy, and then the temperature drops back to low 50s – but it was fun to get in a few rounds!

To-Do List

1. Get in a workout: Check – back on the bike, finishing off Part IV of the Oxventure “Peak Performance!” I believe I mentioned last time that THE DRAGON WAS AWAKE AND FLYING DOWN TO SEE WHAT THE COMMOTION WAS? Fortunately, Dob had a plan, and that plan was to make sure Vex was WELDED TO THE GROUND with his rapier so they could get out of here before the dragon showed up. And ooooh boy, did that work – Dob inflicted 13 points of damage with the initial stab, then another 13 points with the melting, searing flesh from bone. And then Corazon decided to make everything even WORSE for Vex and cast Grease on him to make the fire burn EVEN MORE. This basically set the whole cabin on fire, so the gang dashed outside, where the bear had fortunately already died again (though it was still on fire) –

And in came a colossal white dragon, furious about being woken up. Fortunately, Egbert – who speaks Draconic – was immediately able to redirect said dragon’s wrath at Vex, claiming they had taken care of the noisemaker and that he was all the dragon’s! The dragon proceeded to smash the cabin with its tail, and then freeze Vex with a giant cone of ice breath before shattering him. It then proceeded to ask what they were all doing on its mountain (in Common, just so everybody could understand), with Egbert and Merilwen quickly explaining about Binbag and defeating the great evil and such. Fortunately they did well on their Charisma rolls, so the dragon was willing to accept this (though he did call Binbag a jerk, which Corazon enjoyed). Combined with the fact that the dragon apparently has a soft spot for Bismuth as “the lady of the necropolis,” it allowed them to leave the mountain in peace, warning that a return visit would lead to their ruin. Corazon, having spotted the path to the dragon’s cave and seeing the sunlight glint off the riches within, fought with his desire to rob the Smaug Mattress for a minute, but ultimately decided that would probably lead to death and he wasn’t about that. XD So instead everyone headed off the mountain – Dob and Egbert tobogganing down on Egbert’s shield; Corazon and Prudence just leaping off a cliff and using Featherfall; and Merilwen taking the long way, to have a quiet moment with the remains of Simon before finding a new spot to bury him, awww. Another adventure in the books – and even better, it ended with a proper performance of the ridiculous “I’m so awesome” song that Corazon wrote for himself and tried to make Dob sing in the introduction. XD I do love these guys.

This did not take up my entire workout session, however, so I did watch one other video – a recent release from Simmer Erin looking at some recent job posts from EA and what she thinks this means for the future of the Sims franchise. Based on the mixture of long-term permanent positions and more short-term contract and temp work, she thinks that Sims 5 production may be ramping up behind the scenes, and Sims 4 is getting the more temporary workers as it slowly comes to the end of its life cycle. And that this reliance on temp help MIGHT be the reason that packs have been getting buggier and more broken as time goes on. Meeeh. . .obviously, we can’t really know – for all we know, a lot of these positions are for the mobile games – but it’s not a bad theory, and it doesn’t make me confident in any of their new releases, that’s for sure.

2. Keep editing Chapter 6 of “Londerland Bloodlines: Santa Monica’s Vale Of Tears”: Check! Thanks to a distracting argument, Alice made it out of the warehouse itself safely – unfortunately, she DID bump into a guard on the sprint back to the platform, but a bit of Dementation stopped him from putting a few holes in her. And then the warehouse exploding rather dramatically has provided further distraction for him and his buddies. Which is good, because Alice has someone to meet before she heads back to Tung’s place – everyone, it’s Best Vampire time! :D Should finish up with Beckett early next week, which gives me plenty of time to edit Chapter 5 for the end of March. :)

3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Check – bit quieter than normal as no Call Me Kevin again, though. Went to his Twitter and apparently he needs to switch to an “every other day” schedule for a while (he’s got a video of explanation coming up, apparently), which, hey, if that’s what he needs, I can dig it. I’ve got other videos to watch, after all –

A) Started with the latest OXBox list video – “7 Ways to Succeed by Being a Total Bastard!” Yes, some games offer some very nice rewards if you’re willing to toss aside your character’s morals and lock yourself into a bad ending. Drink all the named NPC blood in Vampyr? Sure, Jonathan is a monster now, but he can wipe the floor with the vampire hunters after him! Let Barry die in Resident Evil (HD Remake)? Okay, you’ve lost a valuable ally, but you got his gun, which is pretty much the strongest in the game! Harvest all the Little Sisters in BioShock? . . .okay, that one actually only really nets you an early-game advantage, and you lose out on the extra fun stuff in the Little Sister gifts, but Mike decided it still counted. XD And of course, if you’re feeling particularly callous, there’s always trapping your parkgoers on an island with free food and drink and VERY expensive toilets in RollerCoaster Tycoon. Gotta love a classic. XD

B) Then it was onto the Subs themselves for Fun With Shorts and “If the Shoe Fits” Part 2! The second half of the late 40s/early 50s short about how shoes in the Thom McAnn line were made back then! It’s a pretty complicated process with a lot of technical terms and a lot of heavy machinery. And a lot of Josh making jokes about the lack of safety standards back then. XD Perfectly serviceable little short, I suppose (especially if you like stuff like How It’s Made), but having Josh along to make sarcastic comments does rather liven it up a bit.

C) And finally we had GrayStillPlays and Theme Park Fun 3D! Another crappy mobile game, this time about theme parks! Activities included making sure a roller coaster completed all its various loops without slowing down or rolling backwards; cutting in line to score a seat on another ride without being spotted by the guard; participating in a full-contact wavy-slide race; serving orange or lime slush of various sizes to patrons; keeping someone from flying off the gravitron (or, if you’re Gray, letting her fly off to watch the ridiculous ragdolling); typing out the track to a coaster in a surprise typing game; and policing the various rides for forbidden items, too young attendees, and people who are too short – or too tall, which really surprised Gray. (Yes, maximum heights are a thing – the Superman coaster at Six Flags has one of about 6’3” if I recall correctly.) Very goofy and silly fun, as always. :)

4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check – simple single ask reply over on Valice Multiverse tonight. Though I’m hoping to maybe get the next set of Smiler Always pictures sorted for the next Chill Save update tonight. We’ll see!

Not bad, not bad at all. :) And now the weekend lies ahead of me -- let's get the to-dos sorted for Saturday, shall we?

1. Edit the gift fic due next Saturday

2. Keep up with YouTube Subs and watch the Plumbella video in my Watch Later

3. Play Sims 4 and build the haunted farm that will eventually be Victor, Alice, and Smiler's home in Henford-on-Bagley

4. Work on tumblr drafts

Think that's a good to-do list for a rainy Saturday with no cleaning and no workout. :p Night all!
