From Sun To Clouds
May. 14th, 2022 11:44 pmYeah, weather kinda worked in reverse of how it did yesterday -- Friday started cloudy and ended up sunny; today started sunny and ended up cloudy. It's supposed to rain overnight and a little into Sunday morning, then get nice again. Other than that, though, the weather remains shockingly summery -- I'm pretty sure we hit mid-80s today? Or at least low 80s. . . still pretty damn warm in my room, even with my ceiling fan going. Worried it's gonna be a tough-sleeping night. :( Lucked out the past two nights, so. . .
Anyway, here's how I did on the old to-dos:
1. Do the second draft of my friend Squid's birthday fic: Check! Got that done between Sims 4 and beanbags, as I had a spare few minutes. Cleaned up the draft and expanded one of the ending scenes a little bit – now it should be all ready to go on Monday!
2. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Check – two in the Subs, one bonus uploaded today, let’s go –
A) Started with the latest from Plumbella – “So, I installed The Sims 4: Werewolves mod!” Yes, because while there is a good chance that the next game pack coming out in the next two months is the OFFICIAL addition of werewolves to the game, we do already have a mod to let you wolf out, courtesy of SpinningPlumbobs! Plumbella, having JUST heard of this mod apparently, installed it to test it out. And let me tell you, it is indeed a VERY thorough mod! You have multiple options for your werewolf form (from humanoid to more wolfy, complete with custom eyes, snoots, and tails – Plumbella went ahead and made Me But A Wolf Grr straight-wolfy from the start); you learn about werewolf lore on LycanSource.com; you get a custom book from a custom professor NPC, the Book of the Beast, to learn more (which has cool glowing text in it); you have a custom lot trait that lets you summon werewolves with raw meat ordered from the site; you have a couple of days of transforming, then lots of different social options and personal options (talk to people about being a werewolf, maul them, go on hunts for insects, stuff like that) to max out your “Werewolf XP;” and you have a “lunar altar” that you can put moonstones on to get new perks and whatnot! Not that we got to see all of what the mod has to offer, admittedly. . . Plumbella put her Sim in Forgotten Hollow as it was the most obvious place to do werewolf-related activities, and ended up having her girl get bit by Vlad midway through the transformation (and then go to his house once she was fully transformed to maul him); ended up adding the NPC werewolf to her family when he wouldn’t leave and then killed him via rabbit attack; bit Mortimer Goth and Agnes Crumplebottom for both the LOLs and the XP; and then got hit by lightning multiple times, called it down upon the altar when it refused to work on her – and then died from getting zapped one time too many. For all too brief a moment, she was a Hypercharged electric werewolf, and it was glorious. XD Good stuff, and I am once again SO impressed by modders for this game, you have no idea.
B) Then it was over to Call Me Kevin and “I played a co-op game with 5000 people” – aka, Kevin went on stream to play Keep Talking and Nobody Explodes, a co-op bomb defusing game that I imagine is pretty difficult when you’re doing it the “Twitch Plays” sort of way. XD Especially since the conceit of the game is that one person is defusing the bomb, but EVERYONE ELSE has the manual – the defuser has to describe what they see, and the others have to look up what to do. Which got pretty freaking chaotic in the chat, what with people throwing out random advice and comments, making false claims about what buttons to push or wires to cut, and other fuckery. XD That being said, they actually made it through about seven bombs, though a number of them took multiple tries (and the establishment of “numbers gang” – everyone with numbers in their username – to take over certain particularly hard minigames, like the maze). They even made it through the Speed scenario, “The Bus That Couldn’t Slow Down” – after like five, six tries and Kevin repeatedly either crashing the bus or dropping below the 50 mph speed limit. XD Good, deeply chaotic times over in Kevin-land!
C) And then it was time for GrayStillPlays and “I spent $1,000 to break GTA 5's physics” – yup, Alex was back to torture Gray some more in GTA V parkour! As was his protege Danny. The theme this time was magnets – here we go!
Board One – I’m going with that instead of $1 because – well, Gray said at the very start it was supposed to be the $1 board, but his editor (who reviews these for him first) said it deserved to be a $50 board. And guess who made it? Danny! It was simple yet painful – a boat being repeatedly thrown into the air by a “magnet” alternately repelling and attracting it, and Gray had to throw himself onto it and get yeeted into a “teleporter sun” to reach the win area. This took a few tries simply because there was no good way for Gray to control his fall – he came within INCHES of the teleporter multiple times before finally getting thrown into it by one good bounce. Through the win, onto the beached boat, to the next board!
Board Two – Gray dubbed this one the $500 board, and it was the ultimate result of Danny learning the ways of magnets from Alex! Gray had to run across a series of lanes where a car was being rapidly flung from side to side by a pair of magnets without getting smashed or smacked off the platform to the ground far below, with the magnet force going up by five each time (until the final one, which was 69). Also the cars got stupider each time, starting with an SUV and going through things like a literal clown car, Satan’s hot dog van, a bus full of Gray and Satan’s daughter’s kids, and what can really only be described as a clown Mad Max bulldozer. Gray died a LOT, but eventually he caught a lucky break on each lane, and finally made it to the end.
Board Three – Alex’s $1,000 board! This one was a full parkour course with Gray driving, and had a couple different twists to the magnets. In the FIRST part of the board, Gray had to get over a number of obstacles – jump, jump over wind turbines, up a ramp and rapidly down a platform at the top, across a couple of very precise chassis slides (including one that had to be reached by timing a drive across teleporting platforms and then going backwards, and one that had to be done sideways) – using the magnets. When they were green, he could activate them to attract his car; when they were red, they were inactive and he would fall into the waiting blades of the turbines, or whatever other hell was waiting for him. XD In the SECOND part, Gray had to make it across a platform with a ton of wind turbines waiting to smack him to Heaven on one side, and a line of magnets on the other. These ones WEREN’T controllable, and whenever they turned green, they just kept yanking him to the side and off the platform, meaning Gray had to drive against them on the regular WITHOUT accidentally driving into the turbines. And in the THIRD part, Gray had to weave around a number of red blocks and various explosives, working his way toward the finish line – except every red block was a magnet that would attract his car and smash it up if he got too close, or pull him into the explosives. Add in a forced magnet-driven chassis slide, a platform with more spinny things to dodge (including, yes, more wind turbines), and a win that was just far enough away that you could be dragged off the side of the board before reaching it, and I think it’s safe to say Alex has found whole new levels of pain for Gray. XD I am so looking forward to more collabs between him and Danny to make Florida Man suffer. . .
3. Play Sims 4 and finish up the arcade, then maybe take Smiler and Victor there on a date: Check! Swung by the Freezer Bunny Arcade to add some lot traits (Teen Hangout, University Student Hangout, Party Place) and added it to my Library, though I have left it in Newcrest for the time being (while it feels out of place, there is also literally nothing else there at the moment, sooo. . .), then it was over to Smiler themselves! They spent their morning doing their homework, watching in-game movie “Moonlight Massacre III” (they did not seem impressed – hell, they got up partway through to play with their lump of clay), taking a shower, practicing their singing, and harvesting their little garden before heading off to campus to work on robots and attend classes! They managed to successfully finish off the computer chip they started a couple of days ago, then started a Chatter Bot (as their organization goals have updated yet again – at least a Chatter Bot is easier to make than a quadcopter) with me having to watch them like a hawk so they didn’t abandon the project to go play basketball. -.-; What is WITH the basketball hoop and Sims. . . Anyway, they also took a moment to clean up the quad statue (which had been toilet-papered at some point), and then spotted their friend Shingo applauding their efforts and tried to go in for the hug –
Only to be rejected! Yikes! Though apparently it was a romantic hug, as Shingo being Unflirty came up in the Embarrassed moodlet? Smiler, if you want other romantic partners, discuss it with Victor first. Well, anyway, Smiler responded by making Shingo hallucinate and then going to their first Psychology class. XD They released Shingo once they finished, then detected their personality and told them a story to make up for things. XD Then it was back to the robotics lab to finish up the Chatter Bot, chat with friends Davion and Cameron, and do a school cheer for Foxbury! :) And then over to their Mixology class –
Which is in the OTHER campus building, instead of the one they use for their core classes. Whoops. They were only somewhat late, though, and taking notes helped them keep their class performance up. Once all schoolwork was done for the day, it was time for some fun – namely, going on a date with Victor to the Freezer Bunny Arcade! :D There were a few annoying instances of “musical chairs” as I tried to get them to sit and chat, and I had to have them take a vacation day at the last minute as I forgot about their job, but other than that, it went fantastically. They chatted, flirted (with the help of the Sims 3 romance stuff, since that was cleared for the patch at last), played the games (Smiler won a blue bear at skeeball, but had no luck with the claw machine, poor enby) –
And Smiler got permission to drink from Victor – and to my delight, the mod I’d picked up just before starting my game today, “Vampire Ask To Drink With Bite Neck Animation” worked exactly as advertised. :D So now I can have my vampires ask for permission to drink and STILL get the brainwarpy animation I want! w0000! :D Anyway, it was a gold date, so now Smiler has another VIP bucket to sell for more cash (which they always need), and I left them having gone home to troll teh forums on their laptop. XD Next time – Harvestfest! That should be fun. . .
4. Work on tumblr drafts: Check – did the usual tumblr trawl on Victor Luvs Alice after changing my sheets this morning, found some nice stuff in my tags (and the wyrdsisterspodcast blog) to stick in the drafts, then did “starter posts” for a ship names post (as I now have many ships – mostly poly ones with Valice in the middle) and a “fairy tales AU” post (as I’ve seen this fun take on Cinderella on the tumblrs and found it inspiring), plus the first of the Wednesday Chill Save update posts before lunch. And then after lunch, I went ahead and just cranked out all three Chill Save posts. :) Ahead of the game!
5. Get in a workout (if possible): No check – we got out to play beanbags just early enough for me to go downstairs, but – damn it, it was hot out today and I just wasn’t feeling it. Especially as Saturdays are usually my break day anyway. We shall reset tomorrow!
Additionally:
-->As stated, we did go out to play beanbags, and things were a LITTLE more even – poor Mom lost her hot streak, but we all ended up winning at least once, so that was good. :) Final scores were me 3-W-3-W-3; Dad W-2-W-2-2; Mom 2-3-2-3-W. Yes, I managed to lose every game I didn’t win. XD That’s just how things go, I guess!
So yeah, not bad. Yeah, I'm slacking some on the workout side, but this long weekend was about destressing after a tough week, so -- not gonna worry about it. And as it stands, I have one more day to enjoy, and some to-dos to for that as well:
1. Keep up with the FO4 Playthrough Progression
2. Keep up with YouTube Subs and Jon's Fallout video
3. Play Fallout 4 and work my way toward the statehouse
4. Work on tumblr drafts
5. Get in a workout
*nods* Standard Sunday stuff, really. :) But for now I'm doing the social thing and keeping an eye on tumblr stuff, so I shall be off. Night all!
Anyway, here's how I did on the old to-dos:
