crossover_chick: Doc in goggles and holding a big old plug with the words "feeling sparky..." (BTTF: feeling sparky/creative)
I had a VERY nice Friday off, starting with being able to sleep in and actually get about eight hours for a change, and moving on through the rest of my day:

1. Continue writing "Londerland Bloodlines: Downtown Queensland": Check – Alice has made it into the Tremere Chantry, and – after getting a bit lost thanks to going down the wrong hallway and being magically spat back out at the start at first – has found her way to Strauss’s library. Time to meet the Tremere Regent, and see what she thinks on first impressions!

2. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Check – just two in the actual Subs for this Friday, but I had a couple of bonus videos to keep me occupied as well –

A) First was a look at a short video from Simmer Erin: “COMING FALL 2022: SIMS RECIPES- NO CC, MODS OR PACK REQUIRED (SIMS 4 NEWS)” I was completely baffled at what she was talking about, wondering if she’d gotten some early news on a new base game update or something – but no, what had happened is that she’d discovered a fellow Simmer, who goes by “Taylorsaurus” on Twitter, is doing an Unofficial Sims Cookbook! Featuring recipes from – well, I’m not sure how many games, but definitely a few from the latest installment! It’s in preorder mode now on Amazon, scheduled to release in October 2022. Tempted to check it out when it releases – hell, tempted to get both it and the Fallout cookbook. If anything could inspire me to start cooking in real life. . . XD

B) Then it was over to another old “favorite mods” video by ligayatrait – “💜 MY MUST HAVE CAS MODS in 2021 | The Sims 4 💜” from the end of last year! It was mostly body presets and more alpha-style CC (eyelashes, lips, jewelry, etc) that I’m not really that interested in, but she did feature that “give yourself more CAS columns” mod I’ve seen before – it does seem useful. Also a mod for giving yourself damn near unlimited preferences, and more preferences in general for Sims to pick from. . . Anything that gives Sims more distinct personalities is okay in my book!

C) From there, it was over to the Subs for the latest Fun With Shorts – “What Is Sound?” A short but dull look at how sound waves work, ending for some reason on the question “what makes a cuckoo clock cuckoo?” Josh happily tore it to pieces, comparing the “Young American” eagle in the opening to Taka from last week and constantly telling the five-minute short that he had to get going. XD Good stuff.

D) And, of course, we ended with GrayStillPlays and Stickman Break Ragdoll Bone! I – feel like the title of the game says it all, really. XD Okay, if you INSIST on more detail, this is one of those “break all the bones in this stick figure to proceed” games with various horrific obstacle courses – but in THIS one, you actually have TWO characters you can customize. One is your unfortunate victim, and one is the person either kicking or punching them into the death course, or body-checking the vehicle they’re driving to launch them into the death course (though it IS possible to kill the other person if you make the car go fast enough). After playing with “Generic Military Guys” for a little while, Gray did a variation on Squid Game with a contestant versus that creepy giant doll robot, with the latter occasionally armed with whatever ridiculous gun Gray could afford with his board winnings. The Contestant suffered mightily througout the boards – being bounced down multiple stairways, shot with a gazillion arrows and chain-gun bullets, ground up by saw blades and pummeled by strange pounding things. And occasionally smashed up by chunks of the car they were driving. All in the name of earning the three stars necessary to succeed! XD Ah, it must be nice for Gray when HE’S the one inflicting the agony on a helpless video game character, instead of being the helpless video game character everyone inflicts agony on. . .

3. Either play Sims 4 and build the arcade, or Fallout 4 and find the statehouse: Check to the first – the arcade won out! It was on my mind this morning and I wanted to give it a whirl. I had a slightly-rough start with trying to find a more interesting shape for the building than just “big old box,” but inspiration struck after I took some time to get the bathroom right (I like to use the stalls from Discover University whenever I can, and those have a bigger footprint than most toilets), then separated it from the rest of the building and noticed it left an interesting little protrusion. I was like “huh, maybe I could do some sort of two-pronged top, just for a little visual interest” –

And THAT’S when the brainwave hit, leading me to search “freezer bunny” in the buy mode catalog. XD Yup, I decided to make my arcade look like a freezer bunny head! (If you’re wondering what the hell a “freezer bunny” is, it’s a pink slightly-lopsided rabbit creature that serves as a sort of series mascot along with llamas and gnomes. I think it was introduced in Sims 2?) Took a bit to get the lopsided ears right, but after that I found the perfect floor and wall tiles in Spa Day, and managed to form the face with some other pink flooring and some rugs and fencing. It’s adorably goofy. XD After that, the main issue was finding a good configuration for the inside – what games needed to go where, what decorations I wanted, all of that. Finally came up with a layout that made me happy (though I did have to make the building slightly bigger in the end), with lots of neon lights and fun wallpaper and whatnot. :) The main “head” is the arcade itself, with all of Cepzid’s games; the shorter ear is the bathroom; and the longer ear is a cafe with TVs and snacks! Wanted to do something other than a restaurant, and “cafe” seemed better than “bar” for a place that’s supposed to be family-friendly. :) It’s not quite done yet – I haven’t added lot traits, and I’m PROBABLY gonna go ahead and move it out of Newcrest where I built it – but I’m pretty proud of how it came out! :D (Also stopped by Smiler briefly so the game wouldn’t try to send me back to Geeker the next time I booted it up – they just calmed themselves down after a stressful workday and did some dark mediation.)

4. Work on tumblr drafts: Check – did a big tumblr catch-up this morning on Victor Luvs Alice, and found a fun fan song about Dracula for a future Song Saturday (I should provide context – there’s this thing called “Dracula Daily” going on now where you can sign up to have bits of the novel e-mailed to you in chronological order because it’s an epistolary novel and everything is dated (it started May 3), and tumblr is going nuts over “our friend Jonathan Harker” and Dracula pretending to be his own servants), plus some more fun Beckett fanart to add to the drafts. I also managed to finish a “not-exactly-incorrect-but-still-funny-quotes” post for Valicer (Victor/Alice/Smiler) that’s been sitting in there for a while, hooray! :) And then, after Sims 4, I got all the pictures for the next Smiler Always update sorted – another three-poster, covering their foray into the robotics lab at the Larry’s Lagoon Commons and their Spookfest party. *thumbs up* Oh, and as for Valice Multiverse tonight, three ask replies, nothing too complicated. I’ll take it!

5. Get in a workout: No check – in fact, I’m going to go ahead and call our beanbag game today a substitution for this, as we ended up going out there late (Mom and Dad were watching a movie, and Mom wanted to make sure the game was well in the shade (hot and humid afternoon), so we didn’t head out until 5:30 PM and didn’t get back in until about 6:20 PM – past the time I’d normally go to the basement). Beanbags itself was kinda brutal for me and Dad, as Mom hit a hot streak early on and ended up winning four out of the five games we played! Fortunately, I did not do as bad as yesterday and managed to get the one game she didn’t win, leaving poor Dad to be left in the dust. Final scores were me 2-W-3-3-2; Dad 3-2-2-2-3; Mom W-3-W-W-W. Maybe tomorrow we can even it out some more. XD

Not bad at all! :) Combine all that with some great summery weather (despite a cloudy start) and it's been just -- nice. Thoroughly enjoyed myself -- I needed this. And now I have the rest of the weekend to continue enjoying myself, yay. :) Let's see what I want to do tomorrow:

1. Do the second draft of my friend Squid's birthday fic

2. Keep up with YouTube Subs

3. Play Sims 4 and finish up the arcade, then maybe take Smiler and Victor there on a date

4. Work on tumblr drafts

5. Get in a workout (if possible)

Yeah, we'll see about that last one -- Saturdays are generally my standard break day, and depending on when we play beanbags. . .suppose I could go down earlier, but *shrug* We'll see what happens! Night all!
