crossover_chick: Victor on the ground with one hand up with the text "Nooo! Anything but the fangirls!" (CB: save Victor from the fangirls!)
Okay, I was TRYING to answer the message I got from Moose the other day, but I've run afoul of the damn character limit, so I've had to copy that and save it elsewhere so I can try and drop it later, so let me just throw this at you and then run to bed (damn it, and I thought I was doing decently on time this Sunday evening):

1. Keep up with the FO4 Playthrough Progression: Check – as per my actual play session, below, I had a rather short update for 12/5/2287, which consisted of Victor and Preston finally admitting their feelings for each other and starting a romance; Victor, Alice, and Piper swinging briefly by the Abernathy farm to see how they’re doing and up their defenses a bit; and then Victor, Alice, and Piper crossing over to Sunshine Tidings to get their bed, food, water, and defense situation sorted. Victor’s keeping busy, but not in a particularly exciting way just at the moment. XD At least he’s gotten in some good bonding time with Preston, Piper, and Alice!

2. Keep up with YouTube Subs and Jon's "Legendary Roulette" video: Check! Kept it simple today with just the core three I wanted to watch –

A) Started with Call Me Kevin and “I built the best Zombie Base in Minecraft” – aka, a return to his Zombie Apocalypse Minecraft save file! Kevin has spent most of the previous episodes trying out a series of elaborate traps to murder the waves upon waves of zombies keeping him trapped in his house so he can actually go out and do things, but in this episode, he realized that simple is best. “Simple” here being defined as “dig out a giant moat, fill it with lava blocks, then put trap doors on top of that to trick zombies into thinking there’s solid floor there so they’ll walk right on into it.” XD It’s working out really well! He even repurposed the old “lava faucet” trap into a bridge he could use to leave, with a pair of trap doors in the middle he could leave open to drop zombies into the lava below whenever the blood moon rises. The redesign did not come without some glitches – namely, a couple of zombies getting in/spawning in because of an unexpected dark corner in his underground area and a tree setting his house on fire after making contact with the lava – but he fixed those, even using the darkened corner to hollow out an escape tunnel! AND the effectiveness of the lava moat meant that he could FINALLY go and visit the desert village nearby during the daylight hours – and shock of shocks, one of the villagers was willing to trade emeralds for rotten flesh! So Kevin gave him as much as he had on him, stole a bunch of their crops to set up a fresh little farm by the viewing tower he built (with whatever blocks he had left) plus a bunch of their books for the aesthetic, and is now planning on how to use his old rail system to gather up the rotten flesh the burned zombies leave behind so he can buy even MORE emeralds. For what purpose, I don’t know, but I’m looking forward to seeing how the Kevin base in this world evolves! XD

B) Then it was onto GrayStillPlays and “I became the strongest man in GTA 5” – aka, more parkour torture from Alex and Danny! This particular set of boards was suggested by “ur mawm” and was themed around giving Gray super-strength, super-jumps, and super-punches! And then forcing him to use them for Alex and Danny’s amusement. First up was dragging a truck full of people over a twisty-turny path in midair (Gray lost three of them due to tipping the truck over the path, and ended up quietly replacing the fourth guy after he perished in a “Gray accidentally walked off the edge of the platform” incident); then, after getting the super-jump, he had to JUMP the truck across a series of platforms (this did not go well on his first try, but then he actually did pretty well, catapulting the truck across each jump with relative ease); then he got the super-punch and abandoned his original truck in favor of punching a bunch of OTHER trucks out of the way of a different twisty-turny path, so he could use the sole remaining truck in the world’s most painful wall ride (it was only through a lot of boosts and the grace of the devil that Gray was able to ride it to the checkpoint); and THEN motor vehicles were abandoned entirely as Gray had to leap his way around the city to reach the final finish line, bouncing off platforms and through a variety of wind turbines – and occasionally ON the wind turbines. Gray learned how easy it was to overshoot these platforms a LOT. XD On the plus side, on one of his many, many falls, he did have the pleasure of landing on top of a bus and getting to ride it for a little bit. XD And of course, in the typical Gray way, he did not give up until he’d bounced across all the platforms, all the windmills, all the beer bottles birthing bouncing windmills, and all the disappearing targets until finally he ascended what I assume to be one of the highest towers in the game and reach the finish line. XD Just goes to show, NOTHING can stop Gray – not even his own incompetence. XD

C) And finally we had Jon of Many A True Nerd and another episode of “Legendary Roulette!” Subtitled “Rise of the Machines,” and that is very appropriate, as in the first thirty seconds, Jon’s intro was interrupted by the Abernathys running away from the Rust Devils advancing upon their farm, and then Jon running away from those same Rust Devils and leaving the Abernathys (whom he is unallied with) to deal with them because he really IS a coward at heart. XD And then that came back to bite him in the ass when he went over to the nearby Wicked Shipping to clear out the ghouls there and pick up a Protectron friend, only for the Abernathys to have led the damn Rust Devils over TO Wicked Shipping during their retreat, which ended up in The Legend of Boston eating a grenade and dying. XD

But yes, machinery and robots were the theme of this episode, which consisted largely of Jon getting angry that Rust Devils are now EVERYWHERE despite him deciding to start Automatron and thus spawning in all the bastards (although, admittedly, on my first “before I decided to start modding” wander through the Commonwealth, I too found Rust Devils perhaps a BIT too common after meeting Ada – they are shitwanks, trust me), and Jon trying to even the odds by using the Protectron Total Hack program to turn protectrons into his temporary companions! Because that holotape has that ability – it overrides their programing to think that you’re a VIP they have to escort, and that means they’ll just follow you around everywhere! It’s kinda great!

Or, well, it would be if more of them were LEGENDARY – Jon was kinda counting on them being super-tough to take on the horrors of this ultra-tough Commonwealth, but it seems that the special variants – like Utility and Police – just don’t get that Legendary tag. The Utility Protectron that Jon tried to pick up at Wicked Shipping didn’t last long (certainly not long enough to help with the Rust Devils Jon ran into near Diamond City – he had to lure them to the gates to get Diamond City Security to help deal with THEM), and the pair of Police Protectrons that he went to Jamaica Plain to get? Well, first off, getting them was a pain in the ass – first off, there was a house nearby full of super-dangerous super mutants, including an Enforcer. Fortunately Jon and his wounding shotgun was able to take them out by exploding the Suicider, which killed the Enforcer, and allowed him to sneak up on the Skirmisher on the second floor – not a lot of good there, but he was able to pick up a crippling minigun! THEN he ran into ANOTHER group of Rust Devils taking on some ghouls on the outskirts of the place and had to take the long way around to avoid them. THEN he was surprised by a GIANT group of ghouls that came out to attack him in force once he made it into the town proper, with him blind-firing in terror into the crowd to cripple legs – the only thing that saved him from death was the car behind him catching on fire and exploding as he ran away, taking out a decent chunk of them so he had less to deal with. AND THEN, after ALL that, what happened with the Police Protectron Twins?

He lost one when fast-traveling back to Sanctuary. Seriously, he went to get two Legendary Protectrons, and ended up with one ordinary Police Protectron. And a brahmin on the roof, because Bethesda. *facepalm* To be fair, though, the Police Protectron lasted a while longer than the Utility one – through the trip to Arcjet, where they encountered Art and his synth twin taking out some ghouls and a gunner before shooting each other (synth Art won, despite human art having a shotgun; Jon was surprised), down the road to Fort Hagen, and through the shortcut into the ghoul-filled trailer park (where Jon took a couple of surprise hits but was fortunately NOT overwhelmed in the same way that he was in Jamaica Plain), before finally getting taken out when Jon reached Fort Hagan. Mostly because Jon insisted on going in through the roof, and since Protectrons can’t use ladders, poor Police Protectron spawned in elsewhere in the building and got demolished. (Though, to be fair, Jon’s bafflement at no longer having the Police Protectron and instead finding DOGMEAT when he was up against a bunch of Legendary Synth Striders was pretty funny. XD)

Fortunately, once in Fort Hagan and past the initial waves of Synths (most of which had nothing good on them), Jon was finally able to get a LEGENDARY Protectron friend! And this Legendary friend served him well through the rest of the trek through Hagan and straight into the fight against Kellogg – though, hilariously, Jon’s least-favorite Legendary effect, Poisoner’s, nearly damn killed him right before said fight when he came up against a synth who had it on a laser pistol. He had to eat all the things and drink all the Quantum to survive. XD But yes, Jon and Legendary Protectron were able to take out Kellogg and his two Striders with the help of Jon’s Wounding Shotgun, then – after watching the Brotherhood arrive in style (Jon is fond of repeating that the appearance of the Prydwen is his favorite faction entrance ever), went down to join them as they launched an assault on the Weston Water Plant and were in turn assaulted by Gunners. XD This ended in a lot of dead super mutants, a lot of dead gunners, a lot of dead Brotherhood, and the Legendary Protectron missing an arm. XD Least it hasn’t exploded yet, Jon! You can keep your friend for a little while more to come.

Which is good, as I don’t think he ever properly solved the main problem he hoped to solve in the episode – the lack of ammo he had for his primary weapons. Because the thing is, his Wounding and Explosive weapons have all been modded so that they fire rapidly, which means they eat through amm at an ALARMING pace. He was desperate to find a good energy weapon so he could use all of his fusion cells, but so far the best that’s come up is a Ghoul Slayer’s pistol, which – is not much but it’s SOMETHING. He DID also pick up an Explosive pipe pistol in Fort Hagan off a synth – it’s not the best Legendary effect on the gun it spawned on, BUT it takes .45 ammo, which he actually has a decent amount of, so if he can mod it correctly. . . But yeah, I think next time, the hunt for decent weapons and more ammo continues. Plus it’ll be about time to head into the Glowing Sea, and Jon apparently has a special plan for that. . .looking forward to next Sunday! :D So glad he turned this into a proper series. . .

3. Play Fallout 4 and get over to Sunshine Tidings to fix them up: Check – very much a “building episode” today! Victor cleaned up his home a bit more in Sanctuary (picking up stuff that had fallen over and arranging it nicely) before finally going to bed once the tiredness hit – then, the next morning, it was back over to the weapon bench to examine guns and figure out what he wanted to do with them –

When Preston asked if it was a better time for that talk. Recognizing this as the “hey, if you wanted a second chance to romance me, feel free” opportunity, I had Victor initiate the conversation (“yeah, and I appreciate your trust in me”), then – when the actual “Romance” option came up – step back long enough to glug some of my modded-in “grape” juice that would max out his Charisma and do a quicksave. XD Shortly thereafter, a delighted Preston confirmed that he was in love with Victor, but didn’t want to say anything because, well, he wasn’t sure if Victor was ready to move on from his wife; Victor confirmed back that he didn’t need to stop loving his wife to love Preston too. Preston said that was wonderful and assured him they could take it slow, and that he was happy enough just to bask in the good feelings they had right now. :D You’d better believe I saved after that!

Anyway, with that over with, Victor ended up putting the short combat rifle away for the moment (too heavy, and I’m still not having much luck figuring out what I want to do with his guns – I know his style is “hit ‘em hard at range if possible, move around a lot to make sure they can’t get me” but – mmmm. I like upgrading weapons but I keep getting stuck on “how close am I to Gun Nut 3? What’s better to do here?” and – well, you know me, I overthink EVERYTHING), turning the Chem Bench around so it, you know, faced the right way, then set off for Abernathy at 9:30 AM to check on them. They were doing pretty good, though they could use some more defense, so Victor built them another turret.

And then it was off to Sunshine Tidings! With my Atomic Radio mod playing in the background, because I got it for a reason and the reason is the commercials and the fake radio plays are funny. XD Victor and Piper passed through a little shack with some bloatflies nearby (easily taken down), officially discovered Wicked Shipping (tempted to go in, but I was determined to help out Sunshine today – on the way back!), ran as fast as they could through a radioactive campsite (with Victor quickly picking up some useful junk), and then looped the long way around the lake before finally arriving at the settlement. First order of business was to turn off the radio beacon so things didn’t get too crowded, then start improving things for the people who were already there! Mainly, by building some more beds, planting a bit more food (including a very cute little pot of thyme from my Appletree Bakery mod XD), building two more water pumps (one by the mess hall, one by the “craft” hall), building another guard tower and assigning a new settler to it, building another turret to protect the beacon and its windmill generator, and making a scavenging station to produce more junk and give another settler a job. Victor then used his own portable workbench to do a bit of cooking, before once again getting the “you’re getting tired” message around 9:30 PM – I had him build himself a personal bed in that cabin that you can’t reach through the front door (the back’s wide open), then accidentally had him sleep for a mere hour before letting him getting seven more hours worth of winks. XD THEN he woke up to the “hey, you’re getting grubby” message, so I had him take a quick shower at the local shower station, before trading away one of the guns I could not figure out anything to do with (a nice pipe bolt-action pistol) to one of the new guardsmen, along with some ammo so he could use it. Left it with Victor on the edge of the settlement – next time we head back to Sanctuary so I can do some more modding and figure out my gun situation, maybe tell Preston to head over to the Castle, then head on over to Finch Farm before looping back to Diamond City! :D

4. Work on tumblr drafts: Check – took a little while, as I had a slow start this morning on Victor Luvs Alice (slept in a bit late, then my aunt came by this morning so I had to spend a bit of time being social). But I did get all caught up on my dashboard and my tags, at least. And then, this afternoon, I went ahead, put my nose to the metaphorical grindstone, and got all four posts for Wednesday’s Chill Save update (Smiler’s Winterfest shenanigans) sorted out, yay.

5. Get in a workout: No check – I’m still on my period, even if it’s starting to wane, and between the lingering tired from that, the lingering heat from going out to be play beanbags, and my desire to get item 4 done, above, I decided to skip it. We’ll pick it up tomorrow with the next Oxventure!

Additionally:

-->Despite some VERY hot and sticky weather today, we did venture out to play beanbags (when it was cool enough to do so, of course) – and Mom’s improving, coming second in every game she didn’t win! I had a decent start that turned bad in the first game, but came back in the second and third, while Dad had a losing streak in the middle, capped with wins. Final scores were me 3-W-W-2-3; Dad W-3-3-3-W; Mom 2-2-2-W-2. Looking good, right?

-->Answered my friend Ace’s FF.net PM – yay for staying on top of that! :)

And it occurs to me now that what I should do is just send the message in two parts, but it's way too late for that now, I'll do that in the morning. *sigh* Night all!
