Fairly Meh Friday
Sep. 30th, 2022 11:53 pmThe weather was cloudy and cool and just kinda gloomy; the traffic coming home was horrendous and I hated it; my parents are still struggling with the kitchen (more details below in the to-dos); and I got my period right before my shower (though fortunately after my workout -- it had just started when I went to shower). Though the later is both good and bad -- bad because ugh, period; good because at least I'm not waiting around in an agony of PMS for it and the two worst days are gonna be on the weekend. Cleaning weekend, but nothing I can do about THAT. *shrug* Anyway, the to-dos:
Work – EXTREMELY quiet day – again, pretty much spent the entire thing doing duplicates. Kinda dragged, to be honest, though I think that was a combination of the quiet and it being a Friday. (And me PMSing.) At least it’s over now!
Beanbags – Not today – my parents had more adventures with the cabinets (one they thought was the wrong size was actually the right size and just has to be cut to properly fit our new stove, and Mom traded out her original stovetop for the color she actually wanted), and that combined with the gradually-getting-ickier weather meant we ended up skipping. Not likely to happen this weekend either, what with the rain and the cold. . .ah well, we knew were were slowly inching toward the end of beanbag time in general.
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check – another night on the bike, to finish off episode 10 of James Turner’s High School Years Rags To Riches! Reginald hyped his outfit as best he could in front of ThrifTea in a blizzard (even briefly getting to meet his – I forget how they’re related, but he met Brodie, is what I’m saying), then headed home to get some sleep and food and all of that. To James’s delight, the outfit actually SOLD for the ridiculous price he put it up for, so he promptly went back to ThrifTea to design a couple more – feminine and masculine both this time – and put them up too. Gotta keep the money coming in! (He also eventually sold the “Flower Power” outfit that was sitting in his inventory – for a simoleon. Hey, at least it’s out of there!)
Also gotta keep the friends coming in – once that was all sorted and he was in a decent mood, James invited some Sims around for the pseudo-party, and got them all to play Don’t Wake The Llama (basically a Sim version of Jenga, if you’re curious). This did wonders for Reginald’s friendships, so James tried a couple other kinds of games – cards was okay, but didn’t have the same gains, while sabacc (from Journey to Batuu didn’t do much for Reginald’s friendships, but it DID do a good amount for his wallet – he put in like $60 and wound up with over $200 in winnings! XD James was MOST pleased. XD
And then Sidney randomly showed up, and to avoid any awkwardness about him not being invited to the pseudo-party, Reginald ended up asking him on a date! Unable to find anywhere in Britechester they could visit (as James is thinking about university gameplay now), they instead went to the park and trekked over to the pier to socialize, flirt, ride the Ferris wheel, and “mess around” on the Tunnel of Love. XD Very successful date, though Reginald had to end it early as he had to pee and there’s no readily-accessible toilets on the pier, sadly. After getting his needs back in order, he then called up his mother to repair that relationship – unfortunately, Don’t Wake The Llama and chatting just didn’t do the job, as Column is Evil and thus more prone to nasty interactions. James eventually resorted to the picture-taking “cheat,” which – thanks to the Tiny Home boosts – ended up completely filling their relationship bar with green. XD Hey, whatever works!
And then the rest of the episode was mostly just Reginald doing whatever random upgrades around his house that he could afford to do and fixing any broken stuff so he could get his handiness skill up nice and high, because that’s always good. Along with applying to a bunch of scholarships in preparation for university. We’ll see how that goes the next time I get a chance to watch an episode – as stated, Orbpocalypse is nigh!
But not so nigh as to start today – when HSY RTR was done, I filled the rest of my workout with another video from Petey Plays It, about Sims 4 alchemy potions, their effects, and their failures. Fun little video, and a reminder I ought to get Victor a cauldron at some point. . .I have so much stuff to do in the “Chill” Save these days. XD
2. Continue writing “Londerland Bloodlines: Downtown Queensland”: Check – having gotten through Skelter’s thoughts on the Masquerade (he thinks the name is stupid, but he’s got no problem with the actual ‘hiding vampires from humans to prevent us all being hunted down’ bit), Alice has now picked up the Patty sidequest from him! She’s feeling a bit iffy about it, as Skelter clearly wants her to kill this woman, and she’s not sure how she feels about being sent out on a straight-up murder mission (especially when the reason for it is “she was abandoned by the Kindred feeding her blood for apparently no reason” – there actually is a reason, but we won’t find that out until Grout’s), but Cheshire has gotten her to take it by pointing out all Skelter said was “disappear,” and she can be just as vague back regarding how she handles it. :p Granted, this IS going to leave her with some worries to ponder about Victor and her relationship to him as she heads back to the Skyeline. . .
3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Check – got through all three uploaded today, yay –
A) First up, this week’s Fun With Shorts – “Learning to Set Type!” A shockingly boring classroom film for people learning to be typesetters, which focused mainly on setting up the letters in your stick and then putting them back where they belong. Made movable type look less like a groundbreaking invention and more like a punishment. At least Josh’s riffs were good, like insisting everyone should have to do this to create tweets. XD
B) Then it was over to Call Me Kevin for “This Sims 4 Bad Translations mod is hilarious!” I’d actually heard of this BEFORE he showed it off on his channel – it’s by the same guy who did that “Utter Chaos” mod he showed off before (he also does actually USEFUL mods, which is the reason I know about it – I was looking at his Twitter and site one day and spotted it). It basically runs all the text in the game through translators until it’s a mix of “almost the same as before” (“We have to hang out on the current lot”) and “pure utter gibberish” (everything else). Kevin did his best to be productive – helping Jim have a Lunar Epiphany via reading werewolf books so maybe one day he can cure everyone’s werewolf thing; watching him turn into an aura of pure evil for a while (aka Jim went on a rampage as his werewolf self, but everything BUT the rage aura was invisible for some reason O.o); sending him to the nightclub where he had some drinks and played piano poorly; getting him a date with a dude named Wolfgang and sending them to the bar in StrangerVille, where he turned one of the local military people into a werewolf and struggled to figure out what any of the flirting options meant, before all the interactions just kinda stopped working and he ended up ending the date early; getting Sim!Kevin a new job as a doctor and following him to work, where he promptly went on a rampage, played with children’s toys, and peed on the floor so he could mop the puddle (that and curing a few people got him a bronze-level workday) – but it was an uphill battle against the text! Poor Kevin was so confused, and it was so funny. XD I doubt this will be lasting past this episode, but he’s proved me wrong before. . .
C) And finally we had GrayStillPlays and “i found 100 ways to end a king's life,” aka a game of Kill Or Not To Kill! Which looks like the sequel to the king-killing game he played before, or at least a clone of same. You’re a different guy killing the king (you look like a monk and you’re using a hammer to the head instead of a poisoned knife), but the premise is the same – you kill the king, then you have to avoid attempts on your OWN life until you either a) reach the end of said life (which takes a SHOCKINGLY long time – Gray was stunned by how long it took the life bar to drain on its own) and have a heart attack right before reaching the throne room, or b) miss someone’s assassination attempt and get killed. There’s some different opportunities to get murdered here than in the original game too – like there’s the traditional “get murdered by the next person who then claims the throne, and you respawn to murder them” (as personified in the terrible bard), but you can also get turned into a toad by the local wizard, or dragged into a sex dungeon by a man named Happy. Or get blessed by the local priest, kissed by the queen, but then foolishly drink poison at the last minute and die on the throne. XD There’s also some happier endings – reject the priest but take the queen? The peasants overthrow you, but you do get to escape with your new love! Gray found it sufficiently amusing – I wonder if there’s even more of these games with even weirder king-killers lying around. . .
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check – did the Smiler Shop TV video for “Song” Saturday on Victor Luvs Alice, since I do like it and it goes with the strong Smiler/Valicer theme this week. :p
At least I got everything I wanted to get done, done. And now it's time to set up the Saturday to-dos:
1. Clean my room
2. Keep up with YouTube Subs, watch the AT4W in my Watch Later
3. Play Sims 4 and attend Smiler's last day of university classes; have Victor practice his magic more; and have Alice invite Rory over for werewolf training
4. Work on my Blades in the Dark Valicer stuff
Yeah, having just finished an "As Long As You Love Me" chapter and started my period, I figured it was a good idea to take it easy on the writing tomorrow. Plus I'm inspired on BitD after watching another Bladesventure. :p
So yeah, that should take me through my Saturday -- we'll see what happens from there! Hopefully it's all right. . .night all!
