Day Four Of The Plague
Feb. 1st, 2023 11:50 pmToday's Covid Update: Still testing positive with the rapid tests, but I AM feeling better. A little clearer-headed, less stuffy and fewer throat tickles (though I have had some NASTY ones today >( ). We are hoping that maybe it'll clear out of my system in another couple of days, otherwise -- well. More isolation. *sigh* At least I have the sick time to take off work!
Anyway, let's not dwell on the potential depressing stuff. Let us instead look upon how productive I was:
Tumblr: Had a pretty fruitful day on Victor Luvs Alice, I gotta say –
A) Kept up with my dash and tracked tags before lunch, which is always good. :)
B) Reblogged some stuff from my friends this afternoon after gaming (sketches of the various redesigns of Canny Tim from Medievil from Nebby (now with added color!); an hourly comic of his day, some fabric art, and a boost post for a friend in trouble from Newt), culminating in reblogging Newt’s original post tagging me in a “post a bit of your WIP” game (I actually had this saved in my drafts so I didn’t forget to do it) and then doing a post, well, showing off a bit of my current WIPs. XD The bit of “Londerland Bloodlines: Downtown Queensland” where I made good on my “threat” to put in Ed Sheeran as his vampire self from the “Bad Habits” video as a Sabbat Toreador in the “fledgling is jumped by the Sabbat upon arrival downtown” cutscene, and the bit of “The Joker And The Queen” where Victor is brought to socialize with his fellow X-Sector captives and meets Smiler, specifically. And if you would like to read those snippets, here is the link! Hopefully you find them amusing or enlightening or what have you. :)
C) While I was doing that, I also filled out the second of my OT3 ship memes for Valicer, so that’ll be ready to go for next week’s queueing, w00
D) And THEN I went through my “Song Saturday” tag during supper and decided on this week’s Song Saturday – 5 Seconds of Summer’s “Complete Mess,” the first Valicer-tagged song I put up! Only I had to make a fresh post for it because the original fan-made lyric video I used in the first one got taken down. So new post with the official “Visualizer” video for it from the band’s own YouTube channel going up on Saturday as per the queue! Nice!
E) And I’m just taking a few minutes here and there as I finish up being social for the night to get the next set of Chill/Valicer Save pictures (the glitchy day I had to partially replay which ended up with the trio at the Humor and Hijinks festival) sorted for later. (As of time of posting, I’m 25 pictures in – suspect this might be another five-parter at 50, but we’ll see!)
Gaming: Continued with Unpacking, like I suggested I might last night – got through the return home after the breakup, moving into the new house, and moving the girlfriend into the house. :) This I believe leaves me one level to go, which is moving to the two-story place in preparation for baby. We’ll see if I wanna do that tomorrow or do some Sims building. Or possibly both! I’ve got nothing but time right at the moment.
Writing: Unfortunately fell by the wayside today – didn’t even get in any BitD stuff. :( However, I’ve decided that all the stuff I managed to accomplish on tumblr cancels this out for the day. Still, hoping to get some actual writing done tomorrow! Gotta properly bank out some time for it, is all. . .
YouTube: I remain caught up on Subs, yay –
A) Started with Josh Way’s latest – “SKETCHY: Goofy "How To" Posters!” A series of four drawings of Goofy doing things as per his “how to” cartoons (most prominent in the 40s and 50s, though there have been some modern ones, such as “How To Stay Home” for the pandemic), since Josh wanted to draw the guy and likes those shorts. We had Goofy being electrocuted in “How To Charge Your Electric Car;” Goofy being confused in front of his laptop in “How to Leverage Analytics” (a personal joke for Josh, who works in web development and thus hears this a LOT); Goofy attempting to Alton Brown a bird in “How To Deep Fat Fry A Turkey;” and Goofy just – staring blankly in “How to Disassociate.” XD Interestingly, Josh originally posted these in black-and-white on Twitter, and they went viral for a little bit – just long enough for him to miss the boat with his colored versions. XD A shame, really, since the final colored products are fantastic and deserve all the love, as I told him.
B) Then it was over to Call Me Kevin and “City Skylines but I only have one tile” – kind of the city-building version of his Minecraft “One Chunk” challenges! Just one tile of land, floating away in the ocean. . .what could go wrong? Other than, you know, Kevin trying to be efficient by pumping water from one corner of the tile and dumping sewage from the corner directly across from it, thus contaminating all the drinking water and making everyone sick all the time. Or trying to fix the sewage problem by building another pipe elsewhere – only to build it BACKWARDS and have to create a “poop jug” by hollowing out a pocket around the backwards pipe and hoping it overflowed into the ocean and not the surrounding areas. (And then later he ended up putting a fancy wind turbine in the center of it because it needed to go in water and the ocean all around was out-of-bounds). Or then putting a water tower right next to all the sewage and thus just making the problem worse. Or trying to plan an efficient city by making a square subdivided into four chunks (that everyone had to go all the way around to get anywhere), and then deciding to get FANCY and start building curved roads in those chunks. Or then building the world’s most cursed bridge over the entrance and exit area. Or creating a literal “crap town” with coal plants and cemeteries and incinerators and crematoriums all right next to each other – and having to constantly buy more as they filled up. Or spending all the town’s money on trams when he wasn’t even sure how to lay down the lines. Or then spending it all on a train station that nobody ever used. Or then spending it all on colleges when there wasn’t even enough elementary schools. Or having to watch in horror as the city got hit by TWO TORNADOES – once at the very beginning of the nonsense, and once at the end when he’d finally started getting a few things sorted (mostly with the help of buying more hospitals, a stadium with a team that surprisingly won a lot of games, and a ton of bouncy castles for morale). Or having to desperately try to reestablish his infrastructure as bankruptcy from all the loans he’d taken out loomed. Yeah, other than all that, it was fiiiine. XD (Though it is slightly worrying that he compared at least some of his actions, particularly those regarding Tram Mania, to the Irish Government and their propensity for wrecking roads. . .)
C) And finally, we had GrayStillPlays and “I built an illegal airline,” aka more Hyper Hostess! Our horrible hostess with the mostess earned her way all the way to the rank of Sr. Hostess in this video! And all it took was defeating a hijacker by asking him his name and then surprising him with the oxygen mask; hugging a passenger instead of giving him his change; stuffing the mouth of an unruly passenger who wanted the plane to go back for his phone with a banana; skipping work to attend Grandma’s funeral just because she willed her a diamond ring (also not correcting Mom on what LOL means when she used it in the announcement); forcing a man listening to music loudly to put in earplugs instead of giving them to the woman beside him; giving a man who was already cold an icy soda; trying to claim beef is vegan to a passenger, and then telling them to DRINK FROM THE TOILET; helping a man INVENT FIRE IN THE BATHROOM WITH TWO ROCKS; and claiming she loved the smell of passenger farts during turbulence. You know, just another typical Gray workday! XD
Other: Answered my friend Ace’s FF.net PM before gaming, in my continual attempts to keep up with people’s messages. XD
Not too shabby. One good thing about this "isolation vacation" -- it's giving me lots of time to get stuff ready on tumblr without me feeling pressured! Would have preferred just taking a NORMAL vacation instead of getting the illness, but still. Gotta look on the bright sides!
And now it is time to wrap up those Valicer Save pictures before heading to bed. Keeping up my Nyquil regime as it seems to be working - and let's be honest, I could use the sleep. *nods* Night all!
