Another Late Thursday
Jan. 4th, 2024 11:55 pmBut I got stuff done, and I'm happy about that --
Work – Well, traffic was a LOT better today, so I’m not nearly as cranky as I was yesterday, yay. The work day itself was also okay – spent most of it either doing obituaries or calling pastors about a letter we need approval for from them, with a brief break for another useless “talking to the credit card company” call. *shakehead* But it wasn’t overly stressful, and I will accept that gladly. *nods*
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check – another night on the bike, finishing off the GrayStillPlays compilation video “Drawing people into 100 uncomfortable situations!” We completed Draw To Save The Stickman (with Gray drawing a derpy alligator to save someone from two meteors, and a toilet with a bunch of pipes sticking out the bottom to save someone from being shot AND falling off a popped balloon), and finished off the video with Happy Story Love (where Gray drew a cellphone that was also the Grim Reaper in a scene where the couple were chewing gum together (the game was like “DRAW THE WOMAN BLOWING A BUBBLE GUM BUBBLE YOU IDIOT”), a check for negative money to celebrate the woman’s birthday (“DRAW THE WOMAN WEARING A PARTY HAT YOU LOON”), and a dead body to cover the top of a convertible (“. . .fuck it, I’ll take that one”)) and Braining (where Gray had to determine who was eating poop instead of ice cream by moving the sun over a trio of women to melt their cones, determine who was a guy’s girlfriend-turned-zombie by matching tattoos, and got to drag Samara from The Ring out of a TV and into a couple’s living room to spook them). Ah, we do love our crappy mobile “puzzle games” on the channel. XD
2. Continue editing “Londerland Bloodlines: Downtown Queensland”: Check – I have completed Alice’s cab ride with the Mysteriously Creepy Cabbie (having gotten some good advice from Wonderland regarding keeping her belly full, her tongue sharp, her acting practiced, and her good deeds done), bringing her into the city proper – and straight into an ambush by the Sabbat. Because head trauma is EXACTLY how she wanted to start her night. XD Next time, she finds herself facing probably one of the more ridiculous cameos/in-jokes I’ve put into a story yet. . .
3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: SUBSTITUTION – With nothing from GrayStillPlays or Josh Way today, I instead turned to my Watch Later to catch up on an OXBoxtra video that’s been sitting there since just past the New Year – “horses.wmv!” This was a video of the gang sitting around “playing” Japan World Cup 3, a “game” that involves the viewers making bets on which horse they think will win the titular race, then, ideally, watching a randomized race to see whose horse actually wins. What makes this interesting is that the horses are all SOME OF THE WEIRDEST SHIT YOU WILL EVER SEE IN YOUR ENTIRE LIFE. Hell, some of them aren’t even horses – the roster in this installment featured some sort of walrus (with possibly a dolphin tail) from Australia (appropriately named “Sea World”), a Yeti (called Uma by the game and pixelated until it actually started running), a literal Trojan horse, and two variants of “humans pretending to be a horse” (Hariboat, the fake horse costume made up of three people hiding in two oil cans, and Mecha-Hariboat, the fake horse costume made up of two people hiding in one oil can painted silver with a weird mechanical dragony head on it). The gang decided that whoever’s horse placed highest (first or second, since those were the only places the game tracked) would win a ball (from a random box of Nerf balls Andy found in the storage closet), and that the races would continue until they each won a ball, with whoever got the most balls winning. Here’s how it all went:
#1 – Andy picked Gincharu-Boy (an otherwise-normal horse who “sushi-walked” on its hind legs, and was apparently the canonical winner of the other two “games”); Ellen took the long part-limo tandem horse Super Pheromone; Jane took the literal Trojan Horse; Luke INITIALLY took the Rockabilly horse but then changed it to Mecha-Hariboat upon seeing it in the lineup; and Mike was bullied into taking Sea World because of his association with Seal Gaiman in Oxventure. XD After a chaotic race in which Mecha-Hariboat wiped out early, Uma the Yeti ended up commandeering Jane’s Trojan horse and somersaulting off it to victory when it exploded. Ellen’s Super Pheromone did cross the finish line second, though, so she got a ball!
#2 – Same horse picks as the previous race – Mecha-Hariboat wiped out early again, and after some nonsense with the Ninja Sniper (another contestant) transforming his horse into various other animals, the Rockabilly horse managed to boost itself to a win, with Gincharu-Boy close behind. And as his horse took second, Andy got a ball!
#3 – Same horse picks as the previous race – more wiping out by Mecha-Hariboat, but this time Sea World started jumping on every other contestant to bounce its way to the win (stealing Rockabilly’s booster thing in the process), earning Mike a ball!
#4 – After a break to listen to Mike read about some of the horses (and confirm Mecha-Hariboat is basically a joke on what happens when the Americans try to copy Japanese stuff, like Godzilla, which probably explains why it crashes into Hariboat so often on the first turn), it was back to the races! Mike swapped to original flavor Hariboat the oil-can-and-person horse, while Andy took Sea World and everyone else stuck with their original choices. The race ended up just being a repeat of the Sea World win, so Andy got his second ball!
#5 – Mike stuck with Hariboat while Andy returned to his beloved bipedal Gincharu-Boy! And this one was a tight one – after the Required Mecha-Hariboat/Hariboat crash, it LOOKED for a second like Jane’s Trojan horse would come in first – but then it fell apart and all the people inside ran off right before the finish line, allowing Gincharu-Boy to moonwalk across the finish and get Andy his third ball!
#6 – Andy swapped to Ninja Sniper while everyone stayed with their current picks! . . .only for the Rockabilly horse, after a failure of its booster, to come back and win it pulling AN ENTIRE PARTY TRUCK, COMPLETE WITH SINGER. And as none of the picks came second, no balls were handed out.
#7 – Everyone stuck with their current picks. . .and the DVD chose the Sea World bouncy win again, so again, no balls awarded.
#8 – Everyone stuck with their current picks. . .and this time Gincharu-Boy won by running (like a person, not a horse), and AGAIN nobody got a ball. At this point, Luke’s refusal to bet on anything but Mecha-Hariboat had become an in-video meme, with Andy likening Hariboat and Mecha-Hariboat crashing into each other (on the first or second turn) to “there’s always a lighthouse” from the Bioshock series. XD
#9 – Everyone stuck with their current picks. . .AND HARIBOAT AND MECHA-HARIBOAT DIDN’T CRASH. In fact, coming into the final stretch, they both surged forward, with Mech-Hariboat in the lead spewing either fire or orange juice from its mouth and tail! But Hariboat’s jockey pulled out an oar, and the horse produced an extra person to help with the running, and it JUST managed to surge ahead, earning Mike his second ball! Luke was FURIOUS and threw the DVD case on the ground. XD
#10 – Andy swapped back to Gincharu-Boy, and Mike to the Yeti, while everyone else stuck with their usual picks. . .and THIS time, not only did Mecha-Hariboat NOT crash, it managed to leverage a drill bit up whatever passed as Hariboat’s butt and send it flying off the board, getting it the win! Luke was as elated as he’d been fuming in the previous race (though for some reason it took him a moment to remember to take his ball).
#11 – Everyone stuck with their current picks, and this is where it was agreed that the video would end once Jane won a ball with the Trojan horse. Unfortunately, the game chose that moment to play the Yeti win scenario, which involved Jane’s JOCKEY crossing the finish line, but not her horse (the Yeti jumps on the Trojan horse, whips it with the jockey, and then the jockey clings to him after the horse crashes and the Yeti sprints across the finish line). This gave Mike another win and his third ball.
#12 – Everyone stuck with their picks again (well, mostly – Mike TRIED to switch to the Ninja, but everyone said he’d waited too long). . .and after what looked like a failure in the final stretch, THE TROJAN HORSE FINALLY WON! :D Well, the Trojan ELEPHANT won, as that’s what burst out of the horse this time and ran past all the other contestants. XD Getting Jane her ball and bringing the video to its conclusion!
Oh, and as for the final winner – tie game, Mike and Andy both got three wins each. XD Not that I think anyone was tracking the balls by the end of the video (Luke openly admitted he didn’t understand the ball system by the end, he just wanted to play with them XD). Good stuff!
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check –
Victor Luvs Alice – Again, technically N/A, but I DID get most of the pictures for my latest Chill Valicer Save update sorted! I’m just a few out from the end, wrapping up the trip to Moonwood Mill and covering the return home and Victor’s fight with the fabricator. XD So I should be ready to slap these into the drafts come Saturday, yay!
Valice Multiverse – One anonymous ask about how there “ain’t no rule saying a dog can’t assassinate the Pope” in the queue – I had Smiler respond that they were looking forward to this next installment in the “Air Bud” series. XD
*nods* Nice! And now it's time to hit the sheets and cuddle up under the covers away from the cold wind outside. At least tomorrow it'll be Friday, yay~ Night all!
