All Right Friday I'd Say
Mar. 22nd, 2024 11:52 pmWork was a little frustrating at times, and the ride home was annoyingly trafficky, but on the flip side, I was the Sequence champ tonight at board game night, winning four out of eight games (Mom won three, and poor Dad only won one, the first one), and we had delicious pizza with PLENTY of leftovers, so that was nice. Plus there was millionaire shortbread (shortbread with caramel and chocolate heaped on top) for dessert, yum yum. :) So yeah, that alone made it a better day. I'm glad.
As for my to-do list --
Work – Fortunately, not TOO bad a Friday – while the GL took up most of the morning, that was more because there was a lot posted yesterday as opposed to there being a lot of problems (though I did have to fix a few gifts posted to the wrong place); and while there were a good number of calls today (including quite a few credit card calls), I never got fully overwhelmed. Managed to finish some roster maintenance stuff I’d been working on most of the week, even. *nods* We’ll see what nonsense I come back to on Monday! At least next week is short. . .
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check – last night on the bike this week, pedaling my way through the last half-hour of James Turner’s “I built a launch pad over my house. Every Lot Challenge Again. (Part 7)!” Which could really be summed up as “James puts a lot of effort into shit only for it all to go wrong.” XD More specifically:
A) James realized the cat that Semaj had befriended, Gunner, was back on the lot and correctly marked as a stray – however, Semaj got distracted before he could officially adopt Gunner, and when James tried to adopt him again, the “stray” tag was gone, meaning the option no longer showed up. A frustrated James then just added Gunner to the family with cheats, only for Gunner to lose the ability to eat from the cat bowl for some reason and constantly be “running away” without going anywhere. James figured it had something to do with how he’d cheated to “adopt” Gunner and removed him from the family – fortunately, he showed up again, and Semaj was able to PROPERLY adopt him, allowing the cat to actually eat and stuff.
B) James tried to get some nice stuff for the toddlers for once, only for Pelham (who seems to be angry most of the time for some reason) to constantly smash the dollhouse, to the point where the game decided Pelham should probably get the “Hates Children” trait (which James had to say “yes” to as the community had decided that should be part of his challenge). So now the children’s ghost father loathes their presence. XD Didn’t stop James from forcing Pelham to be the one to make them a (manky) cake and age them up into children, though! XD
C) And the big one – James had Semaj sell grilled cheese and stuff out of his inventory to get the woodworking table, then had him mass-produce as many woodworks (mainly dining tables and bathtubs) as he possibly could (forcing him to work in the rain and down Plentiful Needs and Nimble Mind potions to the point where Semaj picked up the “always stinky” curse from drinking too many) until FINALLY he had maxed his Handiness skill and could open up the old mine shaft to the Forgotten Grotto in Oasis Springs! He then sent Semaj over there, opened up the shaft, did the little text adventure THREE TIMES to actually reach the Grotto (he kept picking the wrong options then had to wait to try again), and – after trying and failing to set up a nice shot – took a selfie in there, completing another challenge! And what was his reward?
Landing on the “put ALL the lot challenges back on” space on his wheel. Meaning that ALL of the lot challenges he’d previously removed are back (plus the “Dog Hangout” lot trait) – and he can’t remove them. Because he doesn’t have enough challenges TO remove them. So now Semaj has to do the last few challenges while dealing with being off the grid, having earthquakes, having everything be filthy and gross, and having mold growing everywhere. Oooof. At least James got to end the episode by spending all the money Semaj made selling grilled cheese, nectar, and woodworks to build his sweet rocket launch pad above his house. XD But yeah, things are not looking good for poor Semaj! We’ll see how he deals with having all the lot challenges back on Sunday. . .
2. Continue editing “Londerland Bloodlines: Downtown Queensland”: Check – Alice was able to safely get into the Records Room and snag the ship manifest (which was sitting on a table because the last cop to look at it didn’t put it away properly), but ran into a BIT of an issue when Marsh ended up right outside the door on his way back to his post, complaining about Heinz “pranking” him and wondering if whoever killed everyone on the ship is the same serial killer who slaughtered that guy on the docks. Fortunately, when she risked a peek through the door, he turned out to have his back to her, so she was able to JUUUST slip past him and get through the door back into the hallway leading back to Heinz. He did notice that she left the Records Room door open, but immediately blamed a coworker of his who apparently never closes doors properly. XD So she’s almost done with her little trip on the Dane – just has to get off the ship and away before anyone but Heinz notices her!
3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Check – back to just GrayStillPlays, with “When you get kicked at 9,999,999 mph,” aka Gray plays Kick The Critter! This is one of those “propel this creature as far across multiple landscapes as possible and grab as many bonuses as you can along the way” games, with the specific conceit of this one being that you are kicking (or ramming, or straight up launching out of a cannon) a strange demonic-looking critter across the world to try and get it on Noah’s Ark. Noah very much does not want the creature on the Ark, so every time the critter catches up, he zooms away, and you have to go farther and farther, meaning you need to pick up more and more treasure to update your propelling-thing to launch you further distances. Fortunately, there’s loads of various-colored gemstones just chilling in the air for the critter to chomp to earn the cash. There’s also various flying creatures he can eat, discount Voltrons and random cannons he can land on to get launched even farther, and even the occasional flying treasure chest with something amusing to say. Which then gets violently bitten and headbutted to death. XD Gray fully enjoyed earning money to upgrade the kicker/battering ram/cannon, earning XP to upgrade the critter and the various things it could land on (including buying more chances to hit Discount Voltron and large groups of flying round “batties” to serve as critter taxis, essentially), and just generally glitching out the game slightly by making the critter go faster than the game ever thought it could go. Good stuff – somehow, Gray makes these very simplistic games a treat to watch with his pure enthusiasm. :)
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: A small but still there check –
Victor Luvs Alice – So, uh, I was GOING to put Newt’s birthday story into the queue for Saturday – but then I noticed during my dash catch-up him saying in the tags on a post about the latest Stardew Valley update that he’d be playing it this Sunday with a friend. . .as a pre-birthday celebration. I was very confused, and decided to recheck the date of his birthday when I opened up my “gift fics” doc –
Aaaand it’s March 26th, not 23rd. I was getting it mixed up with MARIE’S birthday a bit – SHE’S February 23rd, and because they’re right next to each other on the list. . . So yeah, the birthday fic for him goes up on TUESDAY. *shakehead* Glad I looked!
As for actual queue stuff, since I didn’t have anything to add, I instead did the tags on the last post in my next Chill Valicer Save update. Just have to finish up the image alt text this weekend and I am set!
Valice Multiverse – Reblogged another of my OT3 Week stories over here, the “high school AU” one – which is one of the ones actually relevant to my RP blog, as I do have a high school AU verse over there. XD Not that it’s seeing much activity right now, but still. :P
Not too shabby -- and yes, very glad indeed that I double-checked Newt's birthday. *shakehead* This is why I write them down! Anyway, gonna wrap things up for the night and head to bed -- got a cleaning Saturday to get through tomorrow (though without the full laundry load). Other things to do include more building in Sims 4 (working more on the Advocate shop); writing some more on "Start At The Beginning. . .Sort Of;" and catching up on the OXBoxtra lists of the week and keeping up with Gray on YouTube. All doable things, I think -- night all!
