Middling Tuesday
Jun. 4th, 2024 11:51 pmNice weather, but -- well, as the work section of the to-do list shall illuminate, most of the day was pretty "meh" for me --
Work – Eh, rather “meh” day – both the ride in and the ride home were miserable (sooo much traffic for no good reason), and while the day itself was relatively quiet (I spent my time working on a QC file, taking a handful of credit card calls, and doing a couple of obituaries), having to listen to my coworkers’ chatter is already starting to wear thin. Plus the special lunch we had today to celebrate going over goal was just – all right. I’ve had worse chicken parm sandwiches, but I’ve certainly had better too. *shrug* Eh, what can you do. Got through the day.
Beanbags Update: Dad came back today and won the first two games, while Mom got the third and I – just plain old sucked. Like, I sucked about as hard as it is TO suck, losing every game. Final scores were me 3-3-3; Dad W-W-2; Mom 2-2-W. *sigh* Dunno WHY I’m so off lately, but I’m hoping my luck turns tomorrow. We can only hope!
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check – back on the bike, and back to the GrayStillPlays compilation “100 Dangerous Pranks That Went TOO FAR!” Finished off the “chores simulator” video today (with the poor child cleaning increasingly grimy and spider-infested items in exchange for things like a sweet YouTuber desk and glittery pink blinds that would annoy her mother’s delicate sensibilities) and got through most of the Get Expelled! video today (the one where the main character wants to get expelled from school so he can become a basketball player, and does this by acting like an ass in class and pranking people in ways likely to kill them). We’ll finish off the last few minutes of that tomorrow, and then I think it’ll be onto another episode of the “Every Occult Challenge” miniseries by James Turner! Mostly because he has two OTHER miniseries that I want to watch, meaning I have to catch up on that one. XD
2. Continue editing “Start At The Beginning...Sort Of”: Check – I’m almost to the end of Chapter Two now, with Victor having had a tender moment with Emily (apologizing for handling this whole thing so badly, and assuring her he does find her sweet and fun and saying that, if things were different. . .) – which was unfortunately ended by Nanny recalling the name of Victoria Everglot’s new husband. Which just so happens to match, at least in part, the name of Emily’s murderer. . . Thursday we should wrap things up with Victor, Emily, Alice, and Smiler preparing to go and make sure poor Victoria isn’t about to get her throat slit, then Saturday I’ll give the chapter a look-over and see about getting it posted! . . .And then we’ll decide the fate of this story, and this universe, from there.
3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Check and check – got to this a little later than expected, but still managed to watch both videos on this Twosday –
A) First up, the latest from Josh Way – “SCREEN TIME: Furiosa Review!” Which was Josh both gushing over how awesome the movie was (and defending it from the haters who said it had too much CGI and stuff like that) and going “the main problem with this movie is that it is a prequel and prequels don’t work.” For Josh is of the opinion that we don’t NEED movies explaining how a particular character from a different movie got to where they were in that movie, as it kind of makes the new movie less satisfying because it can’t have as firm a resolution as it might if it were a stand-alone. (He’s also not big on cinematic universes for similar reasons, directly stating that Marvel’s constant pushing of their CU has ruined things for everybody, even themselves.) Fortunately Furiosa is good enough as a movie that he is willing to forgive it the sin of being a prequel and recommend it wholeheartedly. If you liked Mad Max: Fury Road, you’re probably going to like this.
B) And second up, the latest from GrayStillPlays – “Choosing the best ways to die,” aka Gray plays Deletemaster (or Delete One Part 3 depending on if you believe his narration or his description box). This is one of those “puzzle” games where you’re supposed to erase something from a scene to solve a problem of some description (with the latter levels giving you options that you’re supposed to pick from by erasing the one you don’t want) – but, of course, these games tend to be made by people who, according to Gray, are hitting the fun stuff, so levels consisted of things like erasing the top half of an avocado to put a crying pit-baby to bed! Making a bunch of racers no longer French so the woman in charge could trade her croissant in for a starting pistol! Saving a ship from an iceberg by uncovering HOT PINK SCALES RADIOACTIVE GODZILLA under the water to blast it with its hot pink radiation breath! Saving a sheep from a hungry wolf by exposing a second, weight-lifting sheep with bouncing pecs from under a bush! Helping a prisoner escape by making money rain down from the ceiling so the cop let him out! And saving a caveman from a saber-toothed cat by giving it a mushroom so it got high as a kite! XD Yeah, uh, this one was simple, but WEIRD. AKA a perfect game for Gray’s channel! :p
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Another double-check for Twosday –
Victor Luvs Alice – Got my “SDX Swimsuits” Valicer Lookbook post queued up for Wednesday; a reblog of someone’s A:MR fanart for Thursday; a reblog of someone’s Corpse Bride picture set for Friday; and a reblog of an old Song Saturday from 2018 – “Come On Get Higher” by Matt Nathanson – for Saturday! So I’m good for the rest of the week on this blog, yay~
Valice Multiverse – One anon ask for the queue tonight, talking about Jimmy Carter’s attempt at getting Americans to keep their thermostats a little lower and how it helped Reagan kick him out of office. Malkavian!Alice was of the opinion that it couldn’t have just been the thermostats, though she’s not the best at American history, for, uh, obvious reasons. XD
So yeah -- not-great workday, but at least the afternoon was mostly nice and productive. And now I have to go to bed and get ready for another day. At least my fan is keeping it nice and cool in here for sleeping -- night all!
