Cold Windy Tuesday
Jan. 7th, 2025 11:50 pmYes, the January chill fully set in today, with temperatures not getting above freezing and often feeling like they were in the single digits! I was fortunately either in a nice warm house or a nice warm office for most of the day, but the trips to and from the car were very "brrr." *grimace* And then there's a chance of snow over the weekend -- fingers crossed it's nothing more than flurries! (Or, if it must be more than that, that it gets me out of work on Monday.) Anyway, my day --
Work – Another fairly quiet day – while the coworker who was out with the stomach bug yesterday left early because she wasn’t feeling 100%, the coworker who had the migraine yesterday managed to stay the whole day. We all spent the morning calling various parishes to see if they were satisfied with the next letter coming out (because the pastors would have to put their signatures on them), and then I spent the afternoon finishing off my latest crop of obituaries and checking on some returned mail while my coworkers did more obituaries and talked and played with a toy rat they picked up from someone’s office. *shrug* It’s a living, I guess? We’ll see what tomorrow brings!
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check – pedaled my way through the end of the GrayStillPlays compilation “100 Dangerous Doodles” today! Which included the rest of the skeleton-based car-drawing game (where Gray completed boards with a Bart Simpson head, a seagull with extra propellers, and a stick figure with punching gloves in – worrying places) and the entirety of his video on Rescue Car Drawing Game (a very jank game where Gray kept getting his unicorn motorcycle with donut wheels into situations and the game eventually retaliated by taking away the buttons he needed to press to complete the later levels). Good times all around! XD
2. Continue working on “Londerland Bloodlines: Downtown Queensland”: Check – got almost two pages done today, covering Alice discovering Milton’s mutilated body in the abandoned building, then discovering what happened to him thanks to a homeless man cowering nearby who saw the murder. Seems the Southland Slasher has struck again...and that his kills are apparently most personal to him… I left it off with Alice sending the homeless guy off with a twenty and a warning not to tell anybody he saw the killer growing claws (which he was only too happy to agree to). Tomorrow, crime scene investigation! Alice has a certain card to find, after all...
3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Substitution check – for whatever reason, Gray did not upload today, so instead I watched some more CaFae Latte by C. M. Alongi! Specifically, I watched –
A) “CaFae Latte Season 14 - TikTok Compilation,” which saw the Stoughton Street witch coven and Bob deal with a stalker who was harassing a woman at the “food shelf” Lindsey works at (getting her another Mark toward genuinely helping people, as she was the one who called asking for help for the poor lady); the return of Ben and his mom to the (now temporarily green-screened) cafe, with the Mom getting cursed to deal with her son’s sensory issues after dismissing them as him being “picky” (she did agree to this, and immediately regretted it when she suddenly couldn’t deal with her hair being on the back of her neck); and C. M. sneaking in a promo for her first full-length novel by having Cyrus listen to the audiobook. XD Good stuff – I love seeing the witches and fae deal with total assholes and give them what they deserve.
B) And “CaFae Latte Season 15 - TikTok Compilation,” which saw everyone having to deal with an invasion of unicorns from a drifting Fae portal! And if you’re wondering why that’s a bad thing, unicorns in this universe are horrible flesh-eating monstrosities who have hides impervious to almost anything except werewolf strength, vampire strength, or metal enchanted with their own blood (resulting in rainbow-colored weaponry, like bullets or swords). Featured Bob slicing up unicorns with her rainbow steel sword with Cyrus’s werewolf friend Patrick and trans vampire “Blood Corps” member Janine; Yarn Granny and Veteran Grampa sniping unicorns from atop a building; and Nicole – being a witch with Fae ancestry who also had never had sex with a man – volunteering herself as unicorn bait to stop them trying to invade the rest of the town. Which did not go down well with JC, who was bitchy throughout the entire thing and yelled at Bob afterward until Nicole was like “rein it in, this was my decision, respect it.” Oh, and Bob’s car got destroyed. Oh, and Patrick and Janine, who really did not like each other at the beginning of the episode (Patrick considering Janine a “nepo baby” because her commanding officer is her cousin and Janine calling Patrick names like “puppy” because she has History with fighting werewolves instead of fighting ALONGSIDE them) came to an accord after the fight and are getting dinner together! I can’t see THAT leading to future hijinks! :D
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check and check –
Victor Luvs Alice (N Smiler) – Got three things from my drafts into the queue for the next three days –
A) A reblog of someone’s picture of The Smiler coaster looking cool at night (featuring some very cool lighting and the full moon way off in the background)
B) A reblog of someone’s very nice Corpse Bride gifset (featuring all the classics, like Victor and Victoria about to kiss and Emily pulling Barkis’s sword out of her ribs like a badass)
C) And a reblog of someone’s also very nice Alice: Madness Returns fanart (featuring Alice in her Classic, Steamdress, and Royal Suit outfits)
So that’s good – just gotta figure out my Song Saturday tomorrow!
Valice Multiverse – And I had three things to chuck into the queue here today too –
A) An ask from toonsisters featuring another meme – this one about how eating healthier is sabotaged by stress (featuring a dog chomping on some cake); the Cuddlepile Valicer trio were like “yes, we agree totally with this”
B) An anon ask featuring a story translated from “British” to “American,” with someone asking their friend for an “elevator” because they have an “apartment” (aka asking the friend for a lift because they have a flat). Cuddlepile!Alice was like “very funny,” while Victor got to struggle with the final sentence just like I did before realizing “all the paint is french fried” means “all the paint is chipped.” XD
C) And another bit of art from toonsisters of the Valicer trio, featuring them as Monster Babies! Specifically, Victor was a human/butterfly creature; Alice a kitty girl; and Smiler a snake person. XD The Cuddlepile Valicer trio found it all as cute as I did! :) (Though, uh, I did notice that Smiler’s hairstyle was not quite right...between this and discovering Nebby gave them too-thick hair too when she showed me a preview of her first take on them, I may have to post more pictures of the back of Smiler’s head. It's short in the back, people!)
Aaaand I have officially stayed up later than I intended, so I have to hit the sack. Hopefully tomorrow isn't too bad, though I can hear the wind howling outside, worryingly... Night all!
