crossover_chick: Alice (Wonderland) looking kind of confused (AMA: WTFery?)
Well, I do a BIT -- I made sure today to start catching up on the daily webcomics a bit earlier, meaning I FINISHED catching up a bit earlier. Couple that with a deliberate attempt to stop mindlessly going through tumblr blogs and refreshing them, and -- yeah. Here early. I am as shocked as anyone. O.o We'll see how long it lasts! Anyway, here's how my day went --

Work – Had a much busier day at work today than I have had in a while – mostly because the first set of pledge cards and asks hit people’s mailboxes over the weekend, and thus we had a fair number of people calling in to set up credit card pledges or make one-time gifts. Which was a little annoying, as I was trying to do some other things too – like checking up on some returned mail. Answering some questions from my supervisor. And cleaning out the area just under my chair’s seat because HOLY FUCK WAS IT DIRTY. Like, seriously, the dust was coming off in giant clumps as I tried to wipe it away. *grimace* Yuuuck. Fortunately, after the initial morning burst, things calmed down a bit and I was able to get my shit sorted. Helped about eight people today with credit card stuff – we’ll see how tomorrow goes!

To-Do List

1. Get in a workout: Check – back on the bike again, and back with the second half of “Best Sims 4 packs in 2024 rated by 15000 people!” by James Turner! Finished off the game pack and expansion pack section today, which had some interesting results – the occults did very well this year, with Werewolves claiming the top game pack spot over Parenthood (and, as previously stated, Realm of Magic and Vampires were both in the top five), while For Rent absolutely crashed and burned thanks to its bug score, only avoiding the bottom spot in the expansion packs by virtue of everyone considering Get To Work a little bit worse. (James had a bit of a rant there about how much he wants to love For Rent, but he can’t because the bugs make the main gameplay loop essentially unplayable. :( Poor guy!) However, there were no surprises at the top of the expansion rankings – once again, Cottage Living claimed the number one spot! Which honestly surprised me, as I thought for sure that the addition of bug scores would cause it to switch places with Seasons. We all know how buggy those Finchwick Fairs are! But very solid gameplay, Build/Buy, CAS, and world scores meant that Cottage Living kept the top spot… Though now I’m wondering if the fact that Seasons DOESN’T have a world and thus can’t benefit from that particular ranking (even halved) is the reason it can’t get the top spot. I love Cottage Living, but I would definitely say Seasons is the must-buy (and indeed, it is the Most Owned pack) simply because its gameplay is EVERYWHERE. Then again, despite being the only expansion without a world, it still always gets the number two spot, so… *shrug* So yeah, now we know the best of the best in all DLC, at least among James’s audience! Tomorrow, it’s back to the Tiny Town LP to see which citizen finished their home first!

2. Continue working on “Londerland Bloodlines: Downtown Queensland”: Check – got a good chunk done on this one today, with Alice leaving the Last Round (having a bit of a bitch about how she doesn’t get any of the useful powers, she just gets the one that she feels conflicted about using because it scrambles people’s brains) and heading back into the sewers! Which, technically, are storm drains, but Alice says she’s noticed a bit of – intermixing in the water. XD And her early hopes of a shortcut to her Nosferatu foe were cut short by a rusted-shut door, so she’s currently got Mock (with Rabbit on his back) leading her in the right direction. We’ll see what kind of progress they make toward the Brother Kanker boss fight tomorrow!

3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Half-regular check, half-substitute check – while I still had the GrayStillPlays video from yesterday to watch, the GrayStillPlays video today was another one putting Chat GPT front and center. Which I’m not interested in. *sigh* So I threw something else I wanted to watch into the mix instead –

A) And that something was “CaFae Latte Season 17 - TikTok Compile” by C. M. Alongi! :D This was the final part of Lindsey the witch’s redemption arc – having received a unicorn horn good luck charm from Nicole in the last season to help with the curse Bob laid on her when she helped her sister Nancy kidnap her (with the beginning episode of this one confirming that Nicole didn’t go behind Bob’s back to do this), Lindsey ended up meeting with Nancy off-screen after the unicorn attack to make sure she was okay, and ended up telling her about the horn when she asked. Causing Nancy to break into her house and steal the horn to use it and some of Bob’s hair to curse Bob with bad luck (turns out she works at the linen service where Bob gets her aprons and rags cleaned, meaning she had the opportunity to get shed hair from those). The curse didn’t actually amount to much except minor inconveniences (Bob is VERY powerful), but it was still irritating, so once they figured out who was behind it, Lindsey managed to trick her sister into meeting with her again (pretending she also wanted revenge against Bob and company), and the whole gang showed up to get the unicorn horn back. Nancy got her curse doubled (now she has to help 14 people instead of just seven), while Lindsey, for making an honest effort and getting five marks out of seven, was freed from hers. :) So that was nice! We love to see someone genuinely become a better person.

B) And after that, we had the GrayStillPlays video I missed yesterday – “Only 0.01% can complete the weight loss challenge,” aka Gray plays Happy Wheels! :D Best boards from this episode included a bottle flip that offered shout-outs for pretty much everything that wasn’t death, ranging from “regular” to “special” to “legendary” (Gray of course went for a Legendary Shout-Out, on the tiniest little nubbin of a ledge by the bouncer – and, because he never gives up, he got it); the “1% possible” jet fall (which murdered Gray a LOT as he tried to figure out the best way to beat it – he ended up getting the win as just a still-living torso); an extremely deadly fall between buildings featuring the worst of ball falls, spike falls, wrecking balls, and various other murderous obstacles (after an early failure, Gray actually managed to win that WITH NO INJURIES WHATSOEVER); and the Dylan Snider board of the day, “Weight Gain Simulator,” which saw Gray controlling a large yellow ball that grew bigger when it ate sugar and smaller when it ate weight loss pills and having to navigate through a simple maze, growing bigger to get keys and shrinking smaller to get through passageways (like a weird discount puzzle version of Pac-Man). Fun stuff that doesn’t require generative AI nonsense, yay~

4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Technical check – only Victor Luvs Alice (N Smiler) to worry about today, meaning I didn’t really have anything to toss IN my queue yet. Though I did make sure to reblog my friend Newt’s latest Dead Boys Detective Agency fanart (a little pen-and-ink-wash of Charles Rowland sitting curled up), as the tags indicated he’s been feeling down in the dumps lately and I figured that would help him feel better. Hopefully it does!

And -- yeah, that's that. I'm gonna go watch some Corpse Bride, Alice: Madness Returns, and The Smiler clips, then see if I can maybe unfuck my sleep schedule a bit. I didn't sleep well last night, so -- would be in my best interest. *nods* Night all!
