Still With The Early Updates
Jan. 14th, 2025 11:35 pmNot as early as yesterday, granted, but still -- better than getting on like five minutes before midnight, right? Anyway, here's what I was on about today --
Work – Another busier-than-it-has-been day, though it wasn’t as busy as yesterday – only took five credit card calls today. :p Though there were more “hey this person is deceased stop sending them mail” calls to deal with. And in between, I just worked on the next piece of roster maintenance I picked up to work on. *shrug* Nothing particularly exciting, just a little irritating sometimes when I was trying to finish up work on one thing and then the phone would ring and I’d have to do another thing. Meh. We’ll see if Wednesday is the same deal!
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check – another night on the bike, another night with the Turner Tiny Town as I started “Our first Sim to finish in Tiny Town Challenge! - Part 14” by James Turner! Turns out the very first Sim to get a finale is Vivian, our pink industrial writer! And the first half-hour of her final episode has been fairly exciting –
A) She got another welcome wagon thanks to James having to move everyone in and out so many times to fix bugs, and ended up with multiple fruitcakes, to James’s bewilderment as he kept trying to get her to throw them out (as she not only hates them, she kept taking random plates of the stuff out when it was in her inventory) – he eventually succeeded, but it was kind of amusing to see him be like “where did that fruitcake come from?!”
B) She got herself a TV so she could watch movies to help deal with her writer’s block (as suggested by the comments) – so far, it doesn’t look to have THAT powerful an effect, but it’s something to do when the inspiration isn’t coming! Probably helps keep her from burning out too.
C) She got the Tiny Town Club together for New Year’s Eve as James wanted her to have a good holiday (for the satisfaction points) and because her social was distressingly low – she didn’t get to socialize maybe quite as much as she wanted, but she very successfully completed New Year’s, watching the countdown with all of her half-siblings, aww :)
D) She got a maid early on in the episode to help deal with the mess both in her own house and Tiny Town itself (the rotten food keeps piling up around the barbecue XD) – and then ended up kind of negating the need for one by getting herself a Re-Traiting potion so she could remove her “Slob” trait and replace it with “Creative.” (James was also hoping to get rid of her “Ambitious” trait, as it keeps making her crave promotions she’ll never get while self-employed, but unfortunately that was a trait she gained later, not one she started out with, sooo…) So hopefully that should help with the old book-writing!
E) And she completed both her New Year’s Resolution AND her Bestselling Author aspiration by writing a couple more bestsellers! :D Meaning she now has the ability to write the Book of Life for all the citizens of Tiny Town (uh, minus herself, as I don’t think that’s allowed…). I ended the current chunk with her having written the first one for oldest Krystoff – next time, I presume she’ll be doing the others in her family! James wants to make a fancy vault room under the town center to keep them safe – I’m hoping that he or one of his commenters realized it might be nice to pair them up with portraits of everybody painted by Krystoff! We’ll see, I suppose...
2. Continue working on “Londerland Bloodlines: Downtown Queensland”: Check – Alice and company are currently making their way through the sewers, with Alice talking about how not being able to drown is a perk of vampirism (and Carpenter and the Queen of Hearts recommending life on the bottom of the sea for her, for very different reasons), and Alice managing to make it past a giant drainage pit without falling down it (spurred along by Carpenter starting to read Shakespeare in his own unique way while she was trying to determine if the hole was big enough for her to jump). Tomorrow, she and her merry band should make it to Brother Kanker’s temple, and set eyes on the horrors within! Fun! :D
3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Substitute Check – Gray once again didn’t upload today! Maybe he’s going to take Tuesdays off from now on? *shrug* At any rate, I was left to my own devices when it came to audiovisual entertainment on the interwebs, so I went with –
A) “CaFae Season 18 - TikTok Compilation” by C. M. Alongi! This season was a little more low-key than the previous ones, with Bob cursing some poor woman’s stalker (while getting to wear said woman’s cute pink blazer); Nicole throwing herself a 26th birthday party (with Cyrus shooting down a customer who thought they had to “grow up” when they mentioned the party would be booze free; JC stressing over their gift and Bob having to talk them down; Cyrus attempting to teach Mike’s toddler daughter how to throw knives at the party; and JC getting Nicole a cute “Karma’s A Witch” shirt (aka new merch!)); Cyrus and Bob dealing with a rude customer who didn’t respect a woman’s authority (another one cursed to silence until he learned how to improve as a person!); and Bob meeting and fucking a dude named David (which – did make her realize she was aromantic as she thought about dating him and simply felt trapped, but happily he was willing to stay friends as the weekend had involved some of the best coffee and sex of his life, so…). Fun stuff as always!
B) And “Hallelujah but it's the monologue from Taken” by Laura Currie – aka the person who sang that “Jolene but she’s an H.P. Lovecraft monster” take on the Dolly Parton song. And yes, it was genuinely her singing Liam Neeson’s famous monologue about having a “particular set of skills” to the tune of “Hallelujah.” And somehow managing to get to the final “kill you” before cracking. XD It’s a two-minute delight, listen to it.
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check and check, I’m happy to say –
Victor Luvs Alice (N Smiler) – Got my queue for the rest of the week done over here today, yay:
A) Wednesday – a reblog of a pretty late Victorian ballgown I saw on my friend Nebby’s blog a bit back, which has a butterfly design woven into the fabric and 3D cloth butterflies around the neckline and sleeves – perfect Alice or Emily ballgown, I feel! :)
B) Thursday – my write-up of the Advocates in Valicer In The Dark – what kind of turf they hold, what kind of upgrades and special abilities their members have, the history of the cult, etc
C) Friday – a reblog of someone’s drawing of their Whisper character from Blades In The Dark, featuring a cloaked woman with two ghosts swirling around her arms – thought it was boss when I threw it into my drafts, still think it’s boss now :)
D) And Saturday – “Jolene but she’s an H.P. Lovecraft monster” by Laura Currie, because what can I say, I really like the song. :P I even threw in a link to “Hallelujah but it's the monologue from Taken,” because how could I not? XD
Valice Multiverse – And over here, I had one thing for the Wednesday queue – toonsister’s reblog of the initial “Victor Memes” ask, with even more Victor-based memes to share with the Cuddlepile trio. Victor and Alice both related to the “mother grooming you in public for every special occasion” one, while Smiler thought the “chased by fangirls” one was particularly amusing. Though they were like “we need memes to give you self-esteem” when Victor admitted that he still has trouble some days just understanding why Alice and Smiler like him…if you find any, Smiler, let me know!
And that is pretty much that! And now it's time for me to wrap things up and try and keep up the whole "getting to bed at a slightly more reasonable time" thing. Didn't work out great last night, I have to admit -- I got to bed shortly after midnight, but it took me a while to get to sleep, and I woke up early TWICE -- but...maybe tonight will be better. *shrug* Night all!
