Less Tired, More Cold Tuesday
Feb. 11th, 2025 11:52 pmWhat do I mean by that? Well, I slept better last night, so that helped with the tired, but as for the cold...well, see the "Work" section of the write-up below:
Work – Welp, it wasn’t quite so busy today (phone was a hell of a lot quieter for sure), but it was still a fairly shitty day. Mostly because the damn heat in our office wasn’t working. >( Like, seriously, it took until about 11 AM for the heaters to actually come on, and then they kept turning off periodically until like 1 PM. From what I understand, they were working on the boiler, but fucking hell. I think today’s supposed to be the coldest day this week – it sure as hell wasn’t a day where you didn’t want the heat on! Not to mention I had to send another e-mail to the credit card people about the shit I found two weeks ago… But at least it was quieter (only one credit card call), and I was able to finish the project I was working on yesterday and quickly get through the exceptions that showed up this morning. Still, I’m hoping Wednesday is an improvement. And warmer.
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check – another night on the bike, another night with “We're having a town banquet in Tiny Town Challenge! - Part 19” by James Turner! And I almost managed to wrap up Pablo’s Grand Finale today, getting through –
A) The mostly-successful town banquet – after discovering that he couldn’t invite Rahul if he made it an actual event, James decided instead to make it a club gathering (once Pablo had gotten the leadership away from Reuben) and invite Rahul over separately (he WANTED to include Patchy, but the game wouldn’t let him). This worked out mostly okay – Kyra ended up eating before the big meal because James wasn’t paying attention to her while he was sorting out the club stuff; Rahul never made it to the table, instead going to the bar on the other side of the town center; and Camillo ended up taking his plate over to the bar’s table to eat instead of joining the rest of the family. But most of the various Renruts sat down and had a nice meal together! That’s about the best you can hope for in this game, I’ve found.
B) More treasure diving from Pablo, interspersed with occasional attempts to connect with his kid whenever he had to stop to tend to his needs. With James learning that a lot of stuff that he thought would boost Social need (helping her with her homework, watching a movie with her) actually does jack shit. Oh Sims 4. *shakehead* On the plus side, Pablo actually found one of the two final pieces he was missing from the Sulani Treasures collection, meaning he only has one more to go! And James indicated he wouldn’t mind trying to find it to finish off the collection before the episode ends...especially since he has to keep going out and doing more treasure diving ANYWAY to help furnish the vault and pay the bills. XD If we’re not going for the Ultimate Horse Championship, we may as well go for this!
C) A trip to the flea market, since James thought it might be fun to try selling there – unfortunately, with all sorts of other stuff distracting the other attendees, poor Pablo didn’t make one sale. :( But he did actually purchase something – a large ridiculous “flying birds” statue that was on one of the tarps. XD James put it into the fountain in front of the town center and let Pablo take what he paid from the vault so he didn’t have to spend his own money on it. XD
D) The furnishing of the vault, once Pablo had churned out a few yard sales and sold all his treasures! James refreshed the living room a bit with a few new pieces; decked out Pablo and Kyra’s bedrooms so they weren’t so sad and empty; gave Kyra a science lab set in the “outdoor” area, by the “back patio” (and made sure to buy a couple of fire alarms while he was at it); put a few plants in the “outdoor” areas; gave the bathroom a major glow-up with new plumbing and decorations; and furnished the fake “second apartment” across the way, using pretty much all the same furniture he used in the main apartment (hell, he just moved the old bathroom stuff over into THAT apartment’s bathroom), just in different color swatches. He also made the top of the lot a little more apocalyptic-looking – surrounding the top of the vault with dirt and old buried crates and some Island Living shipwreck stuff and StrangerVille worrying-looking barrels to sell the aesthetic. It all looks really nice, honestly – and given that Pablo ended up making his fortune from Sulani treasures, it seems only right that he use Island Living decorations on his lot. :p
But! James is not quite done yet, as he wants to decorate the hallway a little more, add a storeroom for stored supplies, and maybe do a little pool if he really wants. So I left off with Pablo heading back to Sulani (in the middle of a MAJOR monsoon), ready to bring up one last big haul of treasure from the depths! We’ll see how that goes (and if he can get that collection complete) tomorrow!
2. Continue working on “Londerland Bloodlines: Downtown Queensland”: Check – the boss fight continued tonight, with Alice managing to press a brief advantage – first by shooting Vick in the shoulder; then by hiding behind the bar while he reloaded, allowing her not only to use Obfuscate to hide, but also grab the nail-bat he kept stashed there; and finally by using Carpenter to keep the guy very distracted while she snuck up on him with said nail-bat. To be fair, Carpenter is an EXTREMELY distracting person. XD But yeah, she managed to score some good hits on Vick with that bat, smashing up his head, knee, and already-shot shoulder! Unfortunately, it wasn’t enough to stop him using his shotgun – and when I stopped, Alice was just about to take a blast straight to the chest. *wince* Tomorrow, we wrap things up and see how Alice finally comes out on top!
3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Substitution Check – it was No Subs Tuesday, which meant it was time for “CaFae Latte Season 24 - TikTok Compilation” by C. M. Alongi! :) Featuring JC panicking over meeting Nicole’s parents (who turn out to be very sweet and nerdier than she is); a dude asking Nicole about her sexual orientation, then revealing he’s someone who was uncomfortable with gay people – but then his little brother came out as gay, so now he’s doing “exposure therapy” to force himself to be more comfortable with them so he’s not an ass to his bro (Rethu suggested reading fanfic, and as it turns out, Exposure Therapy Guy is a fan of Supernatural…); Husniya going “mommy mode” and hiding Bob’s paperclips as a “choking hazard” (everyone had to remind her that they’re either super old or at least old enough not to try and eat them); Bob cursing a customer who was a jerk about Husniya needing to take a break to pump her breast milk with the inability to say anything about such an act for three years (all while Cyrus came up with new drink ideas for the mom); poor Drek getting sexually harassed by a creeper while gathering plates, only for Yarn Granny and Rethu to come to his rescue (Rethu put on the SCARY VOICE for this); and Drek dealing with his classmate Tom, who was blowing off his part of their group project and using his depression and ADHD as an excuse (fortunately, Nicole put Tom in his place during the initial meeting at the coffee shop; then, when Tom tried to claim Drek had bullied him in a meeting with their teacher, Drek managed not only to defend himself, but finally get Tom interested in the project by pointing out that they could try doing a play as part of their presentation, which got them all excited about doing sock puppet theater). Good stuff, as always – though part of me does wish Rethu had just eaten the creeper. I don’t think he would have been missed.
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check and check –
Victor Luvs Alice (N Smiler) – Got a little over half of my Valicertine’s Week posts queued up tonight –
A) Wednesday – the two “Polyheart OT3 House” posts I did – after taking a moment to go through all the image alt text and clean some of it up a bit for clarity (I was tired yesterday and didn’t fully trust what I’d written)
B) Thursday – the new set of Valentine’s Day Valicer Not-Incorrect Quotes, and a reblog of a post I saw on Thrallflower’s blog where she posted a picture of the Hostess snack cake “Meltamors” with the caption “the snack your partner will love” – I had to add it to my queue with the addition, “No, the snack your partner’s partner will love” because it was such an obvious pun on “metamour” to me XD (though it does occur to me now that Thrallflower didn’t alt-text the image, so I should probably add an image description to the post – tomorrow!)
C) Friday – the set of Valicertines I did last week! I was hoping to ALSO get my bonus “Valicer Kitchen Table Polyamory” post queued up as well, but as that post was unfinished...I’ve got most of the main text done now, at least?
So yeah – still gotta finish off that, then get the Song Saturday posts queued up. At least I know exactly what I want to do for both of those, so getting this completed tomorrow shouldn’t be too difficult!
Valice Multiverse – One ask from Toonsisters for the queue tonight, featuring her “messing with the trio” by giving Alice’s knife a face and making it move toward her and act at least vaguely sultry. Cuddlepile!Alice was like “da fuq – how’d you even get that face on there??” XD Which I feel is a fair reaction.
So yeah -- less tired, but more cold. At least I got to have nice warm hot chocolate tonight for dessert (along with a peanut butter cookie). And now I'm heading off to bed, because I don't want to be less cold but more tired tomorrow. Night all!
