Okay Wednesday
Feb. 12th, 2025 11:51 pmLike, it hasn't been great, but it hasn't been horrible either -- just one of those days that ends up being kind of just there. *shrug* Here's the write-up for you --
Work – Well, the heat was working all day today, so that was an improvement over yesterday. And only one of my coworkers was in (the other one wasn’t feeling well), so I didn’t have to put up with too much inane chatter. But it was still a pretty “meh” day overall, with a slightly-fussy GL in the morning; a couple of credit card calls; the biweekly call to the credit card people (which revealed that the one person who understands how our two databases interact has been traveling all week, hence why the thing I’ve been trying to get fixed has not yet been fixed *sigh*); and some roster maintenance. Oh, and pretty damn trafficky rides in and back. *grumble* Just gotta get through tomorrow, now!
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check – back on the bike, and sticking with James Turner as I pedaled my way through –
A) “We're having a town banquet in Tiny Town Challenge! - Part 19!” Just had to finish up the last ten minutes of Pablo’s Grand Finale before I could move on to another video. Sadly, he did not manage to find the last treasure in the Sulani Treasures collection during his last treasure dive – though, given James was making him dive in the middle of a thunderstorm, I suspect he didn’t have a lot of motivation to keep going. XD But he found a few good pieces, and after a quick sale, had just enough to expand the horse paddock a little bit to add a “pond” (a tiny – swimming pool? Fountain? Wasn’t clear) and some more plants, and to decorate up the main hallway with some fake grass and seating areas outside. So Pablo now joins the group of people who are Officially Done with the challenge, leaving just Camillo, Sonny, Silas, and Reuben to finish up. Slowly but surely making our way to the end of Tiny Town!
B) “Reacting to The Sims 4 Businesses & Hobbies Expansion Trailer!” But we will be holding off on that for a while longer, as the next episode is just a LITTLE too long to squash into the workout time I have remaining. So instead I checked out this video, which was James reacting to the new expansion pack trailer and blog live (when it happened, obviously) with his chat! Which was really a labor of love, because James lives in Australia and thus the trailer drop happened at 3 AM for him. So far, I would describe him as “cautiously optimistic” – he’s into the concept behind the pack (even as he keeps joking that it’s essentially Get To Work 2), especially the idea of mixed commercial and residential spaces...but at the same time, he noted that he was really excited for For Rent too, and we know how THAT pack turned out. *grimace* Funniest moments so far have been him mistaking a pottery-making area for a new kitchen (because he thought the kiln looked like a fridge – to be fair, it DOES have a similar aesthetic, and again, it was 3 AM for him) and him looking at the glimpse of the map we get in the new world and whispering to his chat “it’s only two neighborhoods, people.” XD But yeah, so far he wants to like it, but as he has been burned before… We’ll see what other thoughts he has once he finishes examining everything in the trailer and reading the blog posts tomorrow!
2. Continue working on “Londerland Bloodlines: Downtown Queensland”: Check – finished off the Alice Versus Bishop Vick boss fight tonight! Alice did indeed take a shotgun blast to the chest, but managed to keep her wits through the pain, getting into cover and – after being told by Cheshire that Vick was healing slower than her thanks to all the diseased blood in his system – throwing her knife straight into Vick’s eye. Which distracted him enough that she was able to then rush him with the nail bat, smash his face in, and finally blow his head off with his own shotgun. *nod* I think we’ve all wished we could do that at one point – he is not an easy boss fight! But yes, he is dead now – along with the final three zombies, as Caterpillar sadly informed Alice that nothing could be done for them. :( I left it with Alice looking to see if there was any running water, and thus any way for her to clean up – next week, we’ll catch up with her after a scene break as she fetches Jennifer from the elevator.
3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Check – despite a late start, I got through both things in my Subs, yay~
A) First up, we had Josh Way and “Fun With Shorts: Ears - Have You Heard the Latest?” As you might imagine, this was Josh riffing on an educational short from the 70s all about ears and hearing, from how sound works to the different parts of the ear to how to keep your ears healthy (like how you should never stick anything small in your ears – except earplugs, of course). Josh did an excellent job of riffing, from jokingly naming parts of the reproductive system when the narrator was naming parts of the ear, to pointing out that you might want to go deaf when Sean Hannity starts talking, to noting that the “latest” about ears sounds like all the old boring stuff he knew before. XD Good stuff!
B) And second up, we had GrayStillPlays and “My friend fooled me using mods in GTA!” This video was all about Gray versus troll boards – and it proved that it was going to be a good one by yeeting Gray into the sky when he attempted to open the door on one of the cars. XD Anyway, the challenges Gray had to face down included:
I. A LEGO-themed board full of invisible yeeters (Gray ALMOST managed to beat them by throwing grenades to figure out where they were, but then came to a random explodey bit and – yeah, that was it for him, in a rare turn of events)
II. A tricky-looking wall ride that proved to be almost entirely optical illusions (the weebmills were actually set far enough back to not hit him, and all the ribbons had invisible wall sections under them)
III. A “bonus board” (that actually was mandatory, because Alex and co were prepared to put in ALL the teleports until Gray chose to do it) where Gray had to navigate a course full of fake floors, invisible bridges, invisible walls, and tricky jumps, all while knocking over barrels to remove “barriers” in the final challenge (except for the VERY FIRST barrel, since knocking THAT over removed the bridge to the end-of-challenge teleporter checkpoint)
IV. And the return of a classic – the $1,000 “Auto” board from the first “$1-$10-$50-$100-$1,000 boards” video Gray ever did. Back in THAT video, the board creator told Gray that all he had to do was hold the gas and the dummy-proofing would make him look like the world’s most awesome GTA V player.
Guess what all those barrels Gray knocked over in the previous challenge removed? Yes, years and years later, Gray had to prove that he could do the Auto board WITHOUT any help – and you know what? He COULD. Like, yes, it took him loads of tries to get the timing right, but he DID freaking do it. And it looked awesome. :) Good work, Gray – good work.
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check – just Victor Luvs Alice to worry about tonight, and while it took me longer than I’d hoped, I got through everything that I wanted to get through –
A) First, I reblogged a couple of posts from Nebby – one featuring some redesigns of MediEvil characters and some updates to a dress she previously made for Kiya for her “MediEvil II Resurrection” fic; and one featuring some very belated Valicer gift fic art she did! Apparently the theme of the trio in this is supposed to be Neapolitan ice cream – I admit, I was wondering why Alice was in a strawberry-themed dress. XD Well, looks good on her.
B) And second, I finally finished getting everything queued for the end of Valicertine’s week, getting the “Valicer Kitchen Table Polyamory” post ready for Friday, and reblogging someone’s video of various Classic Hollywood “throuples” (not that there was anything official, but it was easy to imagine) set to Britney Spears’s “3” and my own old Song Saturday post featuring Ed Sheeran’s “Shivers” for Saturday! So I am officially SET through the end of the week, yay. Now I just need Marie to get back to me with some birthday fic ideas...
Whew -- yeah, some of that stuff near the bottom took a while to get to, but at least it's all sorted! Valicertine's Week is all good, everyone, yay~ And now I really need to get to bed -- night all!
