Tired Tired Thursday
Apr. 3rd, 2025 11:52 pmHey, remember how I mentioned how my sleeping habits weren't great yesterday? Well, not only did I get to bed later than I should have, I woke up at around 2 AM and couldn't get back to sleep for almost an hour. >.< I just -- I couldn't get comfortable, and my shoulders were hurting, and I just felt so off-kilter about everything...it wasn't fun. Finally got back to sleep after putting on my bathrobe and getting up to have a painkiller for my shoulders, but still. REALLY hoping there are no repeats tonight.
As for the rest of the day:
Work – Fortunately, my day at work wasn’t anything horrible – the commute in was the normal sort of trafficky; the day itself was largely quiet, with me working on the remaining exceptions sent back from our processors, some roster maintenance, and a couple of credit card calls; and the ride home was also the normal sort of trafficky. I am very relieved. Fingers crossed it’s mostly the same tomorrow?
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check – back on the bike again, and back with James Turner for
A) The end of “The last episode for Silas in Tiny Town Challenge! - Part 28!” The last thirteen-or-so minutes of this featured:
I. Silas summoning Reuben and taking a few pictures of him so he had the whole Siblings-Plus-One-Nephew set – then taking a couple snaps of Raohul as well because he was hanging around the studio for some reason
II. Silas then traveling to Ravenwood to take a bunch of candid pictures of the landscape and people there just so he’d have enough pictures to finish off his photo gallery (plus because James hadn’t actually visited the new world with a Sim yet)
III. Silas coming home and having some more woohoo with Other Silas (despite the fact that, as James discovered later, they have absolutely horrible capability and are unattracted to each other) while James grabbed all the pictures and used them to cover the remaining wallspace in the gallery! The overall effect was really cool – like, it was all very crowded, but in a good way. *nods* A colorful City Living picnic table and some more plants outside on the balcony completed the look –
And with that, Silas’s last episode was done! And so is Tiny Town, because I have not seen hide nor hair of those “making the town itself look nicer” or “wrapping up the last few items for each person” episodes he said he was going to make. To be fair, he was VERY busy around that time doing his Black Widow challenge and getting ready for Businesses & Hobbies, so...perhaps one day!
B) The beginning of “I am living in a landfill in The Sims 2 Rags to Riches - Part 4!” The continuing adventures of Semaj and Iled as they attempt to run a successful home business, featuring:
I. James attempting to send the pair on vacation to Twikki Island so they could go seek out the secret “Mysterious Hut” lot using Iled’s various treasure maps! Now, they actually DID get to the island, booked a room in a nice hotel, walked off to the Mysterious Hut, helped fix all the Witch Doctor’s stuff while he hung out on his hammock in the HAIL, and then hung out until the Witch Doctor presented Iled with her very own voodoo doll – but when they tried to return to their hotel, the game...not exactly HUNG on the loading screen, but it wouldn’t show anything else BUT the loading screen. Despite James being able to hear his Sims doing shit behind said loading screen. A reload sadly didn’t help matters, so James had to retcon the vacation out of existence. :( To be fair, it’s his own fault – he insisted on going to the vacation world that is KNOWN to have at least one corrupted lot, so...but still. Sorry Semaj and Iled! Maybe you’ll get a vacation in a future episode!
II. Semaj and Iled getting on the crafting grind again with robotics and flower-arranging respectively, and both of them getting Silver badges in their crafts! Meaning Iled can make new types of flower arrangements, and Semaj new robots – including the flying sentry-bot! With Iled, this meant that we got lots of new pretty flowers from her –
With Semaj, this meant we got all sorts of robotic chaos from him, because as it turns out he’s really good at making BROKEN robots. We got a glimpse of this in the “went on vacation” timeline where James saw one of the busted Cleanbots Semaj had made gunking up the ENTIRE store with sneezed-out trash, but it really came to a head in the “let’s avoid the corrupted vacation lots” timeline, where Semaj ended up with two broken cleanbots roaming around dropping garbage everywhere and a busted sentry bot shocking him while he was trying to pick up his ordered groceries. XD He did eventually manage to turn them all off, allowing James to hide them in his inventory, but, as you might imagine, it took a while, and the house is now an absolute mess. XD Now you understanding the meaning of the title!
III. Oh, and James looked up how you tell if you’re pregnant in Sims 2, and a jingle plays if the trying for baby actually worked, so no little Semaj-Iled child yet. :( Ah well, there will be more chances to try!
Uh, yeah, pretty chaotic, don’t you think? XD And I’ve still got over half the episode to go...we’ll finish this off tomorrow and see if Semaj and Iled ever get out of the trash heap! After they’ve had their nice burger lunch, of course. :P
2. Continue working on “A Murder Shared Is A Murder Thirded”: Check – got a good chunk done today too! :) I left off before Multiamory March with the trio having just found the safe Bumby’s ledger is in (not that they know that for sure yet) hidden under a false bottom in a drawer in his desk, so today I picked up with Smiler revealing they found some lockpicks in Elder Gutknecht’s library and getting to work picking the lock on the front, while Victor and Alice had a bit of a heart-to-heart while keeping watch from the doorway of the office! Mostly about how Victor is DEFINITELY going to have a talk with his father about helping the poor more; how Victor is still sorry about getting Alice and Smiler into trouble (Alice was like “we chose to help you, it’s fine); and how Alice is very grateful that they believed her about Bumby and were willing to help (Victor was like “you don’t accuse a man of the things you’ve said he’s done lightly! Also you don’t seem that mad, overall, even with the talking to invisible creatures.”) Ended the bit with Alice cutting herself off upon hearing a noise from downstairs...better get that safe open soon, Smiler!
3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Substitution Check – it was a Thursday with nothing in the Subs (not even a GSP compilation), so I once again turned to C. M. Alongi and CaFae Latte to entertain myself, watching “CaFae Latte Season 36 - TikTok Compilation!” This episode featured:
A) C. M. helping to promote her mother’s latest book by putting her into an episode, with the framing device being Patrick visiting a bookstore to get a “shelf trophy” (physical copy of an e-book you really liked) of her latest novel, finding her signing stock, and dragging her to the cafe to tell everyone there about her book Road Queens (about an all-female biker gang that helps save women from domestic violence situations) and how she’s donating 50% of the royalties to domestic violence shelters (said mother, MaryJanice Davidson, was EXTREMELY CONFUSED as to what the hell C. M. was doing when she ran around playing all the different characters XD)
B) Cyrus, Patrick, and Rethu arguing over what makes a “five-star read” (Cyrus is the type to have detailed checklists to decide, while Patrick decides solely on vibes and Rethu is somewhere in the middle) while Amyth collected her ghost pepper cookies for the fundraiser for St. Jude
C) Drek the half-goblin teenage dishie asking Nicole for a good luck charm for their car (to help them pass their driving test and prevent accidents) and revealing that they were honestly a little scared of Bob and the other employees (except for Husniya...half the time) because of all the badass scary stuff they do (Nicole gave them a student discount and warned them to keep practicing)
D) The shop closing up early thanks to a blizzard – and a last-minute Karen wandering in and being like “well, some people will take any excuse to shirk work, huh?” when informed of this fact (Bob was astonished because it was the first time anyone had ever complained about this)
E) And the reveal of how Drek’s driving test went – basically, the instructor was a total bigoted asshole about Drek’s half-goblin heritage, but Drek drove perfectly and forced him to hand over the license (Bob still decided to curse the guy, of course – gotta take care of those bigots somehow!)
Good stuff, as always – especially the first bit, that was particularly fun. Poor MaryJanice, trying to figure out why Chris keeps changing “voices and costumes and...ears.” XD Hopefully she enjoyed the video when C. M. showed it back to her? (I PRESUME her daughter showed her the finished product, anyway...)
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check and check –
Victor Luvs Alice (N Smiler) – Finally finished the masterpost for the Multiamory March fics! Just had to do the categories for the Running Headlong Into The Bullshit, All The Fairytale, and Valicer Soulmate AUs, and fortunately that wasn’t too much of a slog. Adding all the necessary tags took a while, yes, but hey, it’s done, and in the queue for tomorrow. :) I also got a START on my planned Song Saturday offering – “Souls” by BONES UK, a poly song I found on one of the blogs I like to peep in on – and reblogged the latest in The Satirical Demon’s WIP Word Train! He confirmed that one of the snippets came from an already-published chapter in the Eldritch Hellworld Valice fic “Beneath A Broken Sky;” talked about what Victor and the VVorm were doing in one of the snippets (practicing scythe combat, apparently); and said that he was really proud of the bit he wrote where Columbo starts interrogating Bumby – I replied that I thought I’d recognized it and expressed my renewed sympathies for the character getting tortured in the snippet; confirmed that Victor could use the practice in scythe combat; and said I was looking forward to Bumby getting his, Columbo-style. :p
Valice Multiverse – One thing for the queue over here today – a surprise return from The Coven Wars, adding another post to our latest thread (where a kid crashed into Alice, then freaked out she might hit him, forcing Alice to calm him down). The boy ventured a smile while, unnoticed, somebody else watched the interaction to make sure it doesn’t go awry – I had Alice smile back and introduce herself, as that is what you do in these interactions! We’ll see if things continue on tomorrow!
*nods* And that is that. I am now going to go to bed and hopefully STAY ASLEEP the entire night. *nods* Night all!
