Better But Wetter Sunday
Oct. 11th, 2026 11:45 pmThe weather may have been worse -- we had a cloudy start followed by a rainy afternoon, with it coming down pretty hard late in the day -- but the vibes were better, with me feeling less stressed out and generally better about life. And also getting some donuts, because my mom tried to make apple cider donuts this afternoon (they didn't really taste like apples, but they were still tasty). :P My parents also had a pretty nice day, getting some new goodies at a flea market this morning (some new elephants for Dad, who's been collecting them; a couple of tiny ceramic frogs for Mom, to go with the one in our bathroom; and a coffee grinder pencil sharpener, which was just neat) and watching the Patriots win their game this afternoon. Dad's been dealing with his hair falling out post-radiation treatments on his brain, admittedly, but other than that -- not a bad day. *nods* I even got everything that I wanted to get done, done:
Tumblr: Well, there was nothing happening over on Valice Multiverse again, and I got a really late start over on Victor Luvs Alice (N Smiler) this morning, thanks to having to spend most of said morning making chocolate granola to go with my cereal, but I did accomplish one thing over here – I successfully wrote up every scene that I wanted to include in the “Hypothetical Table Talk” reblog I’m appending to my “They Would Have Done It For An Ottoman” outline! Took me quite a while, but I did it! The scenes included –
A) Alice and Smiler agreeing on a plan where Smiler would prowl up to the guard outside the boss’s office and try to hit him with the Eyeblind powder while Alice would prowl up behind said guard and hit him over the head with her Vorpal Blade’s handle...and then Alice noticing Smiler only taking one die for their Prowl roll and going “shouldn’t you push yourself to get an extra one?” – cue Smiler revealing that they feel that, if they get caught, that’s still a distraction for Alice to work with. XD
( Many more surprisingly long mock-TTRPG session scenes below )
Fun stuff! I still have to finish the tags, admittedly, but I plan to do that tomorrow so I can finally fling this out into the world. :)
Fallout: New Vegas: I got to this later than I really wanted, thanks to how long it took me to finish up the text of that “Hypothetical Table Talk” post, but I did visit the Mojave today, and I’m proud to report that Victor wrapped up the quest to find Primm a sheriff with only a minimum of trouble! AND figured out what the hell that “mystery” quest marker was all about. :p Let me give you the details –
A) I started out right where I left off last Sunday, with Victor and ED-E hanging out in Powder Gangers Camp South (which, as per the wiki, is in fact where Chavez and HIS Gangers are supposed to be if you do “I Fought The Law” in the correct order – that is, visit Eddie in the NCRCF first so you can do his mini-quests before kicking off the fight for the place. Since Victor never got a chance to curry any favor with him, they never spawned in. We’ll assume they ran north to avoid Eddie’s wrath!) – as Victor’s inventory was looking a little full after grabbing what he wanted from the place last time, I had him quickly chat with ED-E to see if the robot could carry some more of his stuff. ED-E had the space, so Victor gave him the two Atomic Cocktails he was lugging around, along with a random egg timer he’d found and picked up and one Stealth Boy. Since those suckers are kinda heavy at three lbs each. O.o Once he’d done that, he poked at the campfire to see if he could make anything interesting –
And upon confirming he couldn’t (the only available recipe was just more healing powder), he officially hit the road! Or, rather, the dunes, as he wanted to avoid the road. Powder Gangers hanging around there, don’t you know. :p Victor thus began creeping across the sandy wastes of the Mojave, in the general direction of that “mystery” quest marker for “My Kind Of Town” that I could just not puzzle out on my map. He skirted the edge of another hill, picked a barrel cactus fruit he found there (gotta take advantage of all the random harvestables!), then crested a little cliff of sorts to find himself overlooking Primm and its iconic rollercoaster:

*nods* You gotta love getting up high in this game and looking out over the landscape. :) However, I quickly realized that the big line of rocks in front of Victor would likely pose a problem in continuing on (they looked very “this is some form of invisible wall”-y), and thus had him turn around and start investigating if he could find a way through the dunes to find a path over them. Which led to him finding another barrel cactus fruit to pick behind him (which I had him eat because it was a good way to drop his H20 meter a little) –
And another possible location to visit! Because, after having his fruit, Victor spotted what looked like some construction equipment not too far off in the distance:

See the yellow towers behind the hill? That look sort of like bits of a crane? Yeah, that was what made him and me go “???” Part of me wonders if that might be Sloane, but I don’t think it’s in the right direction? But then again, we all know that I am TERRIBLE at navigating my way around an area, so… *shrug* It was an intriguing mystery, that’s all I can say for certain!
( Victor finds his way back to Primm and decides that when human justice won’t do, robot justice will )
Workout: Jon came through for me again this week, uploading “Fallout 3: The Worst Wanderer - Part 22 - Dishonorable Discharge” in time for me to watch it with my workout! Yay~ :D This week’s installment of The Adventures Of Useless Steve, Virtual War Never Changes, included –
A) Useless Steve taking his refreshed virtual squad of missile units, a grenadier, and Benjamin Montgomery (the Real Hero of this DLC) over to clear out the Chinese Ice Camp and attack the Chimera Armor Depot! Which was perhaps somewhat easier than taking out the Listening Post from last week, but still involved:
I. Steve leading the charge on the camp, taking out a soldier and a dog by hiding behind the convenient sandbag barricades – and then nearly being taken out himself by his own guys when one of them hit him with a missile. XD Talk about the dangers of friendly fire! Fortunately there weren’t many enemies in the opening area, so he was able to survive the initial assault and get himself some health from a nearby tent
II. Jon abruptly remembering that he walked past a briefcase full of intel in the train yard while doing last week’s mission, and Steve thus abandoning his squad and running back there to pick it up because like hell was he doing all this without getting the special perk for it
( It’s Useless Steve! Blowing up more stuff with missiles and then unwillingly dueling the Chinese General at the refinery! )
*nods* Very nice. :) But now I should consider getting ready for bed -- don't want to sleep my whole day off away! Or stay up way too late like I did last night. *nods* Plans for tomorrow include finishing off that "Hypothetical Table Talk" reblog on Victor Luvs Alice (N Smiler) and getting it posted; playing some Baldur's Gate III and seeing how everyone feels about Shadowheart being a Sharran, and how open Shadowheart is willing to be now; working a bit on "Londerland Bloodlines: Downtown Queensland" and getting things sorted so Victor can confirm which girl in Flynn's show is their target for VV's assassination; and getting in a workout to another old Oxventure -- this one an appropriately Halloweeny one-shot... We'll see how much I get done! Night all!
