Slightly Late Thursday
Feb. 27th, 2025 11:53 pmWhich was kind of a theme today -- I woke up a bit later than I wanted; traffic going in meant I got to work a little bit late; and much worse traffic coming back (because no one in Rhode Island can drive when it rains) meant I got back home QUITE late. *huffs* But I'm here now, and I'm ready to update you all on my life --
Work – The “relatively quiet” streak indeed continued today, with fewer phone calls (handful of credit card calls, mostly) and me spending most of my time working on roster maintenance and talking over some weird problems we encountered with United Way gifts and a check being sent to the wrong place with my coworkers. And trying to figure out whether one person on my roster maintenance list was indeed married to another person. *shrug* It’s a living! One more day!
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check – back on the bike, and back with James Turner as I got through –
A) The end of “Yoga tour in Tiny Town Challenge! - Part 22,” with James starting Camillo’s house remodel! Starting with updating the shape of the palace a little bit to get poor Camillo some more floor space – it looks mostly the same with the fancy bump-outs in the front, but everything’s been pushed out a little in the back. Once that was done, he ended up turning the downstairs into a very nice spa (with a sauna, a mani-pedi/hand-and-foot-massage room, a regular back massage room, a changing room, and a bathroom), then ATTEMPTED to figure out a way to fit a kitchen, bathroom, and bedroom into the second floor before going “you know what, I’m feeling creatively fried from all the bugs I’ve had to deal with, and it looks like Camillo will need more money to finish this anyway – let’s stop there and we’ll just give him a second episode.” XD Which led neatly into –
B) The first twenty-odd minutes of “Camillo has finished the Tiny Town Challenge! - Part 23!” Which happily opened with James revealing that he’d fixed the issues he’d been having last time with not being able to build in Camillo’s apartment! APPARENTLY there was something going on with Sonny’s house that meant that James could only build when in his apartment, and it seemed related to the big old deck around his home that serves as his outdoor living space. Once James set that space as shared, suddenly everything was fine again. *shakehead* For Rent, man… Anyway, with his apartment once again his apartment, things got back on track for Camillo this episode –
I. On the building side, James brightened up his downstairs spa (which he’d originally done in all sorts of dark woods, which looked nice but made it all SUPER dark, so he instead went with various white stones and tiles) and set that whole space as shared (so other Sims could use itand probably cause chaos); moved his bedroom up to the top room that was previously serving as a “massage room” (getting lots of classy curtains and whatnot for all the archways up there, though Camillo has to settle for a pink bed for the moment as the one he’s got has no good purple swatch); and got the kitchen, dining area, and second floor bathroom all set up, along with a few fancy columns for interest and some plants. Because he likes plants and they add some color to this very purple-and-white build. XD He also painted the ceiling in those super-busy mosaic tiles that came with Get Together (I used some of them as flooring in the kitchen of the Polyheart OT3 house as they have a good blue/yellow/red swatch), and it is a VIBE. XD Camillo still doesn’t have a proper living space, granted, but things are slowly coming together!
II. And on the gameplay side, Camillo found an excellent spot to host his lucrative outdoor yoga classes without worrying about people freezing to death – the Magic Realm! Mostly because it has no “proper” weather – just weird magical swirling clouds all over the place. He set up shop right outside the Magic HQ (shitty original version) and invited everyone to a couple of classes – the first one wasn’t very well-attended, but the second one brought in the peeps, and he got a few thousand out of it! Plus an extra $600 from giving someone a massage with his portable table when James wanted to test if that would be a faster way to make money (it would not). So yeah, looks like he’ll be doing his classes there from now on! Think it would be cool for him to become a Spellcaster, at least for the ability to use the Glimmerstone to pop there quickly, but given it’s his final episode, I don’t think James will bother.
So yeah – things are going a lot smoother now! I left off with Camillo dealing with another welcome wagon crowding onto the incredibly small landing right outside his second-floor front door (at least they’re bringing two fruitcakes instead of one this time!). Tomorrow, we’ll wrap things up with Camillo as he earns more money, get his house sorted, MAYBE finds the time to go on a date or two, and gets a cat! Because everybody wants him to have a big fluffy white Persian to go with his palace. XD We’ll see how it all goes!
2. Continue working on “A Murder Shared Is A Murder Thirded”: Check – got another page sorted, with Smiler noting that the windows of Bumby’s office overlooked a nice quiet alley and using the rope they brought with them (for potential Bumby-tying-up purposes) to set up an escape route, and Victor discovering a false bottom in one of the drawers of Bumby’s desk and opening it up to find a safe with something potentially important inside! Now they just have to get in...but we’ll worry about that next week, as Multiamory March is LOOMING and I have to get some of these fics edited already! O.O
3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Substitution Check – the only thing in the Subs was a new GSP compilation (about a bunch of different ways to end earth, so more Solar Smash and Universe Sandbox 2 I’m guessing), so instead I went back to C. M. Alongi to resolve the “someone stole Rethu’s sister’s egg” cliffhanger from Tuesday by watching “CaFae Latte Season 28 - TikTok Compilation!” This video saw the gang track down who stole the egg (the Amster family, after being tipped off by Rethu’s sister’s landlord, who were selling it to the Oaken Sisters, one of the witch gangs of the Twin Cities) with the help of Eric and Nicole; JC call up one of the Oaken Sisters to pretend to be a new buyer for the egg on behalf of Bob, the “Iron Witch,” and get her to invite the pair to the safehouse where the egg exchange was happening in exchange for three unicorn horns and half a million dollars; JC and Bob get the horns (from Nicole, who was willing to donate them to the cause) and the money (from Bob, who genuinely just had it under her floorboards) and head out armed with a nanny-cam from Husniya (for recording purposes), while Rethu and Cyrus flew ahead and had a heart-to-heart about Rethu’s irrational guilt over feeling like their reluctance to have kids somehow is related to the kidnapping (aww); JC and Bob do the handover, only for the Oaken Sister in question to be like “but what if I kept the egg, the money, AND cut you up for parts, fairy” – and then Rethu’s furious family tore the roof off their hideout, just as Bob was anticipating; and finally JC call Nicole to let them know that everything was good, the nanny-cam video had been delivered to the cops (busting the Amsters and the Oaken Sisters) and the egg to its momma. :) Rather tense series of videos, but very very good. I do enjoy this series. :)
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check and check –
Victor Luvs Alice (N Smiler) – Didn’t get the first Multiamory March fic queued, sadly, but I did finish off my Song Saturday post on “Eminence Front” by The Who, talking about how first hearing it in the Severance Season 2 trailer means its now permanently linked to my own Valicer Severance AU in my head. And how I’m fine with that because it’s a banger. *nods* So that’s all right! I’ll see about getting the fic queued tomorrow.
Valice Multiverse – Had one reblog and one ask for the queue tonight, plus a reply for me to, well, reply to –
A) First up, the reply, which was The Satirical Demon commenting on the ask he sent me about that Machine Messiah-obsessed werewolf’s prayer book that freaked Alice out. Turns out most of that was him cribbing from other sources (like the “40K Mechanicus” game trailer, and SCP), though the Machine Messiah itself is from WOD (a future AI singularity that Garou can indeed call upon for power, if they help make sure it becomes a reality). I admitted to him that I’d had no idea most of it wasn’t canon because the WOD is so weird already, and besides, I was already aware of the God-Machine thing from the “New” line that spawned Changeling: The Lost, so I just thought that the Machine Messiah stuff was related to that. XD Oh WOD, you really are the darkest clown world…
B) Then we had the reblog on my thread with The Coven Wars, with Mouse confirming to a worried Victor that he and Venus are indeed on their own – he doesn’t have a family, and he has no idea if Venus has one or not. He warned that it was complicated, but Victor assured him that if Mouse wanted to talk about it, he’d be happy to listen. So we’ll see if that prompts any backstory in the next reblog!
C) And finally, we had the ask, which was from Toonsisters about a new theory she’d seen pop up that Victoria Everglot is actually Hildegarde’s daughter, who gave her to the Everglots in the hope that her kid would have a better life. Cuddlepile!Victor was like “that’s not COMPLETELY implausible, but Hildegarde is very old,” while Alice was like “later in life pregnancy? Though I don’t think Victoria being adopted explains the Everglots treating her poorly, that’s just the Everglots.” They ended up texting her to ask her opinion, and Victoria said she didn’t think it was true, but that she was more than willing to consider Hildegarde her mother since the woman did most of the work raising her. *nods* So that’s that!
And speaking of things being late, I am officially rather late to get to bed. *sigh* I really gotta work on getting to bed earlier next week -- night all!
