Busy Less Chilly Tuesday

crossover_chickWell, marginally less chilly, as it was also windy, but I didn't freeze going to and from the car, so, plus. :p Anyway, I'm really trying to get to bed a little sooner tonight, so let's get to the write-up --
Work – A middling Tuesday – I spent most of it working through the exceptions we got back from our processors yesterday, marking people deceased or “do not solicit” and suchlike. Also spent most of it listening to my coworkers yak about politics and reality TV shows, sooo...on the plus side, didn’t have to go down and talk to the lady who called from the lobby screaming at us that she wanted to talk to someone “important” about her pledge? *shrug* And on the actual plus side, traffic wasn’t too bad going in, and was AMAZING leaving the city – I had to stop for gas on my way home, and it barely impacted my commute! So that was nice. :) We’ll see what Wednesday brings!
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check – another night on the bike, another night with the GrayStillPlays compilation “When you find every possible way to destroy Earth!” Finished off the “meteor shower” (or I guess “asteroid rail gun” would be more accurate XD) Solar Smash video from yesterday (with Gray ending things by using the asteroids and some lasers to carve the earth into a heart, before firing the rail gun straight through the center of it), then it was back to Universe Sandbox videos! With Gray putting a bunch of tiny black holes around Earth to see what would happen (a single black hole sent the Moon flying off into space, while a whole bunch superheated the earth before combining their powers to eat the entire solar system), and taking advantage of a “hey, you can turn off stuff like making objects pull on each other, fragment, or transfer momentum” physics update to turn a grain of sand into a rail gun (so far he can only get it through two Earths at a time – and he discovered that if he turns off transferring momentum entirely, things just clip through each other, which is interesting). Got about ten minutes left on the last video – we’ll finish that off and find something else to watch tomorrow!
2. Continue working on Multiamory March prompts: A very productive night on these, I’m quite pleased to say:
A) On the actual writing front, I got three stories written –
I. The “Day Ten: Meet The Family” prompt, which was a Modern AU story about Victor and Alice meeting Matt and Carol Alton, Smiler’s parents, for the first time – and being kind of stunned at how short Carol is compared to her husband. XD Had to reign this one in a bit as it got rambly at the end, and it’s probably going to need some tweaking and tightening up in the edit, but I’m happy enough with the rough draft!
II. The “Day Eleven” prompt – I swapped the original “Pining” for “Home” from the alternative prompt list, because the minute I saw that, I was like “Multiplayer Wonderland AU story about Victor, Victoria, Emily, Alice, and Smiler touring their freshly-constructed new house!” :D Featuring some banter about how Nell and Maudeline are glad to see their children engaging in some conspicuous consumption, when really they were just making sure there was ROOM for everyone, and a bit about how everyone has their own space for a favorite activity. And, of course, a reference to the house Alice originally designed for Victor and Smiler when they were growing up. :) It’s very sweet, I think! Even if it makes me wonder “how IS Emily sticking around in the living world, given she’s the corpse bride?” XD A problem to solve at a different time!
III. And the “Day Thirteen: The polycule taking care of a child or pet” prompt, which was a short Valicer In The Dark story featuring the trio and all their pets (Guide the cat, Dogmeat the dog, Benny the lap dragon, Sooty the raven, and Us the intellect devourer) hanging out on the couch together, with Us commenting on how cozy it all was. :) Short but sweet!
B) And on the “coming up with new ideas for the remaining prompts” front, I came up with something for “Day Fourteen: Confessions” – a Valicer Forgotten Vows AU story featuring Victor tearfully confessing to Alice and Smiler after a nightmare that he loves them both and please please don’t make him choose between them, awww. Good thing Alice and Smiler had already come to the conclusion that they don’t mind sharing on their own!
So yeah – filled in the hole I had between Day Nine and Day Twelve, and am on track to write something for Day Fourteen tomorrow. Yay!
3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Substitution Check – nothing in the Subs this Tuesday plus me getting to the YouTubes late (because of all the writing, don’t you know) equals me spending my night catching up on some more CaFae Latte by C. M. Alongi! Specifically, “CaFae Latte Season 29 - TikTok Compilation,” which featured:
A) Bob, JC, and Erik having to deal with a dude who ran into the cafe at closing to escape the haunting of his ghost ex-girlfriend, who he CLAIMED jumped off a building after he cheated on her
B) The introduction of Ghost Hunter John, who came in to assist when Bob called him and helped reveal that, actually, the boyfriend MURDERED his ex after she exposed him as a cheating liar
C) Bob learning that JC managed to accidentally traumatize Drek at their Halloween party by exposing the kid to the well-made horror that is the Coraline movie
D) JC and Bob talking Thanksgiving (Bob doesn’t stay open as there’s never enough customers to justify keeping employees away from their families) and Nicole’s reaction to JC allowing themselves to be used as bait of a sort when getting the dragon egg back (she was angry and scared but admitted that making them feel bad about it would make HER a hypocrite because of the unicorn stuff, so instead there was chanting, splatter art, and angry sex), and then JC explaining to Nicole why they hate attending their family Thanksgivings (half their family hates them, and the other half isn’t very accepting of their queer identity) and Nicole inviting them to HER family Thanksgiving instead (do NOT get in the way of her dad’s cooking – however, bringing a pie is acceptable)
E) And a little skit of someone looking at the CaFae Latte merch in-universe and asking about potential discounts, allowing C. M. to plug her newsletter and the Black Friday promo code within (while admitting that she does sometimes forget the newsletter exists XD)
Good stuff, as always – I’m glad that Gray taking Tuesdays off means I get at least one day a week to watch this series! :)
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Half check – I was HOPING to get more stories into the Victor Luvs Alice (N Smiler) queue, but ended up distracted part of the night by some surprise comments on my fic (see below for details) and just didn’t get to it. *sigh* At least the story for tomorrow is already good to go… I did however get a couple of things to put in the queue for Valice Multiverse –
A) An anonymous asking which was better, stimpacks or vitae? Obviously that was a question for the old “Fallout of Darkness” verse, with that Alice saying that she wasn’t one hundred percent sure which was best (especially since she couldn’t personally try stimpacks, being undead and all), but that vitae would probably beat a stimpack in a straight healing fight...if not for the side effects. Yes, this Alice had to deal with Heather, who gets SUPER obsessed with the Fledgling as their ghoul, and as a result absolutely REFUSES to let this Victor drink her blood. She does not want that to happen again! So, bottom line, they both agree that while vitae is probably better, stimpacks do the job MORE than well enough for them.
B) And a reblog on Toonsister’s ask from the other day introducing Cuddlepile!Victor to his counterpart “Vic” (who dresses a bit more casually and has highlights)! Toonsisters explained that one of the “triplets” (a trio of girls the gang looked after before, not sure EXACTLY what relationship they are to Toonsisters) had thought Victor should meet him, given he had an intriguing life story, and promptly headed off, telling them not to kill each other. Vic awkwardly offered tea after a long silence, and Victor accepted, wondering if Toonsisters had at least warned him that he was going to meet an alternate. XD This is going to be interesting, I can already tell. :P
Other: As per the above, I ended up spending a decent portion of my night writing up a comment on my tumblr friend Nebby’s latest chapter of her “MediEvil II Resurrection” fic – and then replying to the comments she left on “A Murder Shared Is A Murder Thirded.” :) Gotta do the friendship fic reading, after all! And it’s nice to discuss all of it with her afterwards in tumblr DMs. :)
So yeah, pretty busy day! And now I have to try and get to bed a LIIITTLE bit earlier than I have been. *nods* Night all!
