Tired Monday

crossover_chickLike, I was okay most of the day, but getting to bed too late two days in a row is starting to catch up to me now. *sigh* I really have to figure out a better way to handle my Sunday video viewing situation... As it is, here's the write-up for my day:
Work – An okay Monday to start this week off – it was relatively quiet this morning, but then the phone started ringing more around lunchtime, and I had to deal with some annoying stuff like a couple of credit card calls delaying my breaks (and one guy with phone problems). The political talk behind me was fortunately at a minimum, though! ...it was replaced during lunch by “here’s how you kill and butcher a deer” talk from a guy in the office who apparently hunted for a while, but I did prefer listening to that over bullshit about what the world is like today? *grimaces* We’ll see what happens tomorrow.
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check – hopped back on the bike to finish off the GrayStillPlays compilation “I was forced to make 100 dumb choices!” Which involved watching the end of the Episode, uh, episode with Karen Starbucks, Eater Of Souls trying various methods to find and woo her gangster kidnapper (the most successful being selling weapons at the beach and the town fair, both of which got her re-kidnapped by the guy – never got his name, though); getting through the Hey, Mr. President video where Gray had his various presidential candidates give the worst answers to questions from the audience (such as telling someone worried about locusts “Bitch, we got nukes!” and encouraging a woman struggling to pay rent to “use her body” – Gray was like “to commit ROBBERIES” about that last one); and finally wrapping things up with the video on Judge 3D, a terrible mobile game with Google Translate dialogue, stilted AI voices, and the ability to electrocute eleven-year-olds and blow up bank robbers with dynamite (aka, Gray’s kind of game! Though he did also set Off-Brand OJ Simpson on fire, so that was nice). All classics of the earlier days on his channel, as I’m sure you’ll agree. :p
2. Continue working on Multiamory March prompts: Check plus, as I had an extra thing to write tonight –
A) First, over on the list of prompts, I banged out stories for “Day 23: Complicated Relationships” – featuring the Innies of the Severance AU talking about how their Outies might feel about each other (with Victor worried that their Outies might hate each other and Alice and Smiler both going “fuck them, we love you and we don’t care what they think”) – and “Day 24: Trans characters” – featuring Smiler of the Soulmate AU worrying about what their soulmate might think about them identifying as a “them” (and then being relieved twice over when both Victor and Alice proved slightly confused but accepting once the bond activated). Doing well so far when it comes to the home stretch – but I still have a number of prompts that need ideas and universes assigned to them. Gotta work on that some more tomorrow!
B) And second, I whipped up a very quick birthday fic for my tumblr friend Newt! His birthday is the 26th, so today was kind of the “do or die” deadline for getting something written with enough time to let it sit before editing and posting next week. Now, when I asked Newt if he had any ideas regarding a birthday fic a few days ago, he told me “no pressure, I’m three years behind on getting anything for YOU” –
But he also mentioned that he intended to maybe watch Pacific Rim as a low-key celebration (that and/or Moulin Rouge). And while I’ve never seen that movie, I know enough about it through fandom osmosis that I thought I could do something with that. So the story ended up being just over a drabble’s worth of dialogue between Edwin and Charles (the stars of the Dead Boy Detectives show he enjoys so much) watching the movie and talking about their own drift compatibility – and Charles getting Edwin with an awful pun for their Jaeger name. XD I’m happy with it, even if it isn’t particularly long – hopefully he’ll enjoy it too when the time comes!
3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Check – just the one GrayStillPlays video today (which is good, as I got to this VERY late): “Every 60 Seconds my car gets faster in GTA 5!” This was one of those “you have to go around the entire map collecting checkpoints” challenges, with the specific twist being Gray had to do it in under six minutes (with a bar at the top of the screen counting down his time), while being chased by the police, in a car that – as indicated by the title – got faster every sixty seconds. And this thing STARTED OUT super-fast, able to hit a top speed of about 250 MPH right off the starting line. Each upgrade (as indicated by electricity sparking around the engine) added about 100 MPH to said top speed, and made the car harder and harder to control because, well, high speeds are NOT good for precision driving! And if Gray did not make it around to the final checkpoint in time because of this – well, car went boom. As cars so often do in Gray’s GTA V challenges. XD Anyway, most of the video was Gray desperately trying to commit to memory where all the checkpoints where while periodically crashing into things at high speed and flying out the windshield at comical angles. Or ramping off bits of the scenery and basically defying gravity with how fast he was going. XD He did eventually get all the checkpoints (with a minimum of vaporizing motorcyclists in his way) and find his way to the end teleporter, though –
Where he was rewarded with the opportunity to leap over a bunch of weebmills at a top speed of 669 MPH. XD Fortunately that teleporter was a proper checkpoint, otherwise I think he would have eaten his own controller. XD Anyway, he eventually made it over them without being smacked around by their katana blades, and sailed through the win circle at the highest speeds a car can attain in this game without disappearing permanently into the skybox. XD Good times – maybe not QUITE as fun as a proper chaos board, but it’s in the same general area, at least!
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: N/A – I only went on Victor Luvs Alice (N Smiler) today, and the queue for THAT is set until Friday. Considering the non-computer portion of the evening ran long because our TV remote has been acting up lately, I’m rather relieved I didn’t have anything to do over here!
And there we have it! Maybe not my best Monday, but I'll take it. And now I have to take myself to bed to actually get some freaking sleep -- night all!
