Tiring Saturday

Woke up a bit earlier than is usually my wont on the weekends, then spent a good portion of the day out and about with my parents (yelling about certain rich assholes, let's say), meaning I didn't spend a lot of time on the old computer today. And when I did get on, I kept getting distracted by various things, meaning I didn't have a particularly productive day either. But I had three things I wanted to do no matter what, and I have to say that I at least MOSTLY accomplished them:
Writing: Carved out some time this afternoon to edit my next three Multiamory March prompts:
I. “Day 26: Scars” – the Soulmate AU story where Alice finally tells Victor and Smiler what happened the day she tried to kill herself with the spoon in Rutledge and accidentally scarred all of them...and Victor and Smiler making sure she knows they still want her in their lives as their soulmate
II. “Day 27: Kink Negotiation – the Modern AU story with the trio discussing what they want out of their new hypnokinky relationship, with Alice confessing to a fear that they’ll do something to accidentally wipe Victor’s brain and Smiler going “that’s what safety suggestions are for”
III. And “Day 28: Magic” – the Valicer In The Dark story about how Alice and Smiler know Duskwallian magic is fucking dangerous – but when they see Victor’s face light up after successfully using Meta sorcery or a ritual, they can’t help but think he deserves that joy…
Took longer than I wanted to get them all done, but I’m happy with the end results! Now I just have to write up the final three prompts of the month...
Tumblr: Another very quiet day over here, with nothing happening over on Valice Multiverse and only a few dash updates over on Victor Luvs Alice (N Smiler). Did make sure to get “Day 23: Complicated relationships” queued up on VLANS for tomorrow this afternoon before my shower, though! Rather important that. I expect tomorrow will definitely see some more activity from me over here, though, as I have a lot of stories to queue up now...
YouTube: Ended up getting to this later than anticipated because of how long getting all those prompts edited took, and because it always takes me longer to watch videos than I think it will (thank you “oh you gotta go back to relisten to this bit” brainworms), I actually didn’t get to today’s GrayStillPlays video in my Subs. Which annoys me, because it was another one with baffling custom cars and I really wanted to watch it. :( Hopefully I can find a way to slip it in tomorrow… As it stands, though, I did at least get through the majority of the stuff in my Watch Later (barring the next CaFae Latte episode on my list, which I was planning on saving for later anyway):
A) First, we had the OXBoxtra list videos of the week –
I. “7 Villain Origin Stories So Sad They Explain Everything” – Ellen and Jane talking about those villains who have backstories that are so tragic you can’t help but emphasize with their plight! Like Ketheric Thorm, the Chosen of Myrkul and Big Bad of the second act of Baldur’s Gate III, who used to be a fair and just governor of the region around Moonrise Tower – until he turned to the evil goddess Shar after the deaths of his beloved wife and daughter (and then rejected Shar for Myrkul because the Lord of Bones brought both him AND his daughter Isobel back from the dead). Or Dettlaff, the gentleman vampire serial killer of The Witcher III: Wild Hunt’s Blood and Wine DLC, who is a perfectly nice person who was forced into murder by the people who kidnapped his lady love (and THEN we learn that the kidnapping never happened, and that his love is actually a false identity created by the Duchess’s sister to manipulate him – he takes this revelation, uh, not so well). Or Jack and Marguerite Baker, the horrible mutated monsters you must battle over the course of Resident Evil VII, who were a normal, happily-married couple until they happened to find the little girl bioweapon Evelyn washed up from a shipwreck nearby and took her in...only to get infected by her particular brand of evil mold and develop a taste for homicide (we’re not counting their son Lucas because evidence suggests he was already a twisted little fuck). Basically, all these villains have lore that will make you feel rather bad for them. Before you inevitably have to kill them. Because video games. *shrug*
II. “7 Incredible Boss Weapons That Sucked When You Got Them: Commenter Edition” – Andy, Jane, and Mike, with the help of the commenters on their last video on this subject, talking some more about those boss weapons that were AMAZING when the boss had them – and CRAP when you picked them up post-fight. Looking forward to using the Kos Parasite to wreck beasts after beating the incredibly hard Orphan Of Kos in Bloodborne’s Old Hunters DLC? Surprise – it’s a shitty arcane-only weapon that needs a special rune to work properly! Want to inflict the same scissory nonsense on your enemies that Sundowner inflicted on you with his machetes when you fought him in Metal Gear Solid: Revengeance? Surprise – the blades are a HELL of a lot slower when you swing them around, and thus are rather ineffective against your annoyingly-quick foes! Decide that it’s YOUR turn to blast people with blue energy bolts with the Sword of Aeons after finally beating Jack of Blades in Fable: Anniversary Edition, never mind it means killing your sister? Surprise – the sword no longer has any energy beam capabilities, it just kinda glows prettily. It doesn’t even have the best damage in the game! Not worth the familicide at all… Basically, if you’re killing these bosses, you might as well just leave their weapons behind, because you ain’t getting any use out of them!
B) And second, we had a couple of Petey Plays It videos –
I. “10 Life And Death Objects You Need To Start Using | The Sims 4 Guide” – one of his usual “five stand-out and five underused items” lists for everybody’s favorite death-focused expansion pack! Stand-outs included the cute little crow buddy you can buy for your Sims as a pet (just don’t annoy it unless your Sims have a death wish) and the crypts you can find around Ravenwood or buy for your own lots that you can explore and have various text adventures in (getting loads of fun goodies), while underused items included Lady Ravendancer Goth’s tarot deck (which has all sorts of cool effects, but is VERY hard to obtain) and souls (purchasable from a ghost and very tasty in soup, apparently). He also confusingly included the plumbobs a family can obtain from ghosts who have chosen to cross over to the Great Beyond – merely decorative, but I suppose they do look cool! And as they do come in different types depending on the ghost’s occult status and how far along they progressed in their Soul’s Journey, you COULD try to collect them all – if you don’t mind them finding (or making) a bunch of dead Sims to help move on to the afterlife...
II. “Everything You Need To Know About Running A Small Business | The Sims 4 Business & Hobbies” – a guide on to how to run a small business in the new expansion pack! Covering such things as how you set up a small business in the first place; how you set up activities for customers to do and indicate what kinds of customers you’d like to see at your business; how one actually makes money in a small business (either through charging people with the ticket machine, offering some sort of service to Sims, or doing the straight-up retail thing); how you hire employees and set them tasks to do; and how the alignments you can pick up for your business affect what happens at said business. I was very intrigued by some of the things he mentioned (the new interface for helping set activities for customers to do looks handy, and I liked the reveal that if you own multiple lots, you can put them all under the same small business brand), but Petey’s complaints about just how limited running a traditional retail store with this pack is (you can only put your objects on very specific shelves and pedestals, and there’s no restocking) AND how you have to pay $75 simoleons to open your business EVERY TIME (what? why?!) has left me with very mixed feelings on this pack. >( So I shall continue to hold off on getting it, please and thanks.
Aaand due to the distractions I mentioned earlier, it is now super late and I am super tired. So I think I'd better get to bed. Goals for tomorrow: get as many of the Multiamory March prompts queued up for the rest of the week on Victor Luvs Alice (N Smiler) as I can manage; edit Newt's little birthday fic and see about writing at least one of the remaining three prompts I have to complete; do my best to keep up with Gray and Jon's latest videos; get in a workout; and I'd LIKE to play Sims 4 and work some more on the Polyheart OT3 House, but I won't hold myself to that. We'll see what happens. Night all!
