crossover_chick: Doc snoozing on his couch (BTTF: exhausted)
[personal profile] crossover_chick
Both because, well, my sleeping habits aren't great, and because I had a rough start to the day, as shall be elucidated below --

Work – Well, the workday ITSELF wasn’t too bad – it was mostly quiet, with me finally getting a chance to finish that QC file from yesterday, work through some more exceptions, help a guy with IRA stuff, and investigate a mystery where someone had two pledges (turned out to be a case of “same e-mail meant two different people got the same ID number” thanks to our credit card vendors – granted, in this case the same person set up pledges for herself and a friend on the same bank account, so…). But my COMMUTES – ugh. The one HOME wasn’t too awful, just trafficky as hell, but the one IN – well, I got stuck in a non-moving line of traffic right before the intersection where I turn to actually get to the building because some guy’s car broke down in the lane right before the light. Meaning I had to get over into the OTHER lane and find a way to get back over so I could turn down the street I had to go down. And then wait for the cops that showed up to push the car across the intersection. And then get stuck not being able to turn in time and have to jerk my car around to try and let the cop car through. It was – it was a lot, and I’m shocked I was only about ten minutes late for work. *sigh* I am REALLY hoping tomorrow’s drive is better.

To-Do List

1. Get in a workout: Check – another night on the bike, another night with “The last episode for Silas in Tiny Town Challenge! - Part 28” by James Turner! And yes, Silas did indeed get some gameplay in this chunklet, don’t worry. :p The highlights of the half-hour included:

A) James finishing off the photo studio, making multiple “sets” with the various Moschino backdrops and the big old Get To Work photo studio “set” (which was very interesting to see in action later – apparently Sims have One Pose for that thing and that is it) and scattering various racks of clothing and plants and other such clutter around the place. Even used the costume trunk Silas swiped from the Cuidad Enamorada lounge. XD It all looked kind of crammed in to me, but James was happy with it!

B) Silas having a club gathering (and wresting control away from Sonny, of course) to get everyone to come to his place so he could get more pictures for his gallery upstairs! This led to:

I. James discovering that his radio didn’t work properly because it was technically in “another room” and having to remove the wall in front of its nook so everyone could dance properly (not that they did, as many of them complained they couldn’t get to the right spot – James eventually did just have them go to the town center to use the dance floor there, after all the nonsense below)

II. Silas getting pictures of Camillo, Pablo, and Vivian, the latter two on the Get To Work set (James used the “standard” pose with Pablo, but after realizing Vivian was going to get stuck with the same pose, he snuck a subject mark in there so he could take proper pictures of her with one of Silas’s own tripods (he now owns three, you see!))

III. And everyone getting dressed up in costumes from the trunk and James going to great lengths to get a group shot of everyone (bar Silas himself...and Other Silas, as he was busy running around being scared of the dark during the daytime) in front of the animated Moschino backdrop (it involved creating a tiny pit in the floor and moving a ton of stuff out of the way so Scarlett the Hot Dog could get into position, but it resulted in some fun pictures, so worth :D)

C) James trying to get Silas and Other Silas to rekindle their romance after discovering that spending ONE EPISODE playing Sonny and Judith meant their romance bar had dwindled to nil. *facepalm* This proved difficult for a number of reasons:

I. One, because, even after ending the club gathering, Silas couldn’t keep his half-siblings out of his house (with Camillo and Reuben in particular insisting on hanging out in his downstairs bathroom)

II. Two, because James hadn’t playtested every bit of the house yet, meaning his attempts to make them woohoo in bed together were foiled by a lamp he’d put too far over it (also, hilariously, Camillo attempted to sleep in it at one point, which really annoyed James)

III. Three, both Silases, but Other Silas in particular, were UTTERLY OBSESSED with the vending machine in the town center, constantly going to browse its goods. Like, these guys just would NOT leave it alone. James was EXTREMELY frustrated by it all, and it was VERY funny. XD *pats him* I do get it, though – remember when Alice and Smiler were obsessed with the ping-pong table in my Chill Valicer Save? ...and now I’ve just made myself sad. :(

Anyway – James DID manage to get SOME romance going, despite everything, so I’m pretty hopeful this episode will NOT end with the Silases divorcing. :P I left it with them post-bed-cuddle, with Silas donating a random picture to charity as part of a “charity drive” event on the rental, and James arranging more pictures on the other side of the Gallery and remembering “Oh right, I meant to take a picture of Reuben at the gathering before the costume stuff.” XD Tomorrow, we’ll finish this up, then dive straight into the next Sims 2 episode on my list! That should be a good way to end the week!

2. Continue working on “Londerland Bloodlines: Downtown Queensland”: Check – Alice left the Tremere Chantry tonight, talking over Strauss’s ominous parting words to her regarding Grout with the Wonderlanders (with Carpenter noting that the real performance was in what he didn’t say, and Cheshire warning her to expect nothing resembling a warm welcome, or any welcome at all, when she arrived at Grout’s tomorrow evening), before arriving at the Last Round and heading upstairs to find Damsel, Nines, and Skelter talking about how they need to find the leader of the plaguebearers and fast. With Damsel letting loose with more than a few of her favorite expletives in the process. :p Next time, we’ll have Alice give her report and see what she gets from the Anarchs – but tomorrow, it’s finally back to “A Murder Shared Is A Murder Thirded!” As I want to get that story done this century too.

3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Check – two for Wednesday today –

A) First up, we had Josh Way and “Fun With Shorts: The Boyhood of Abraham Lincoln!” A short about Abe Lincoln as a child, covering the various moves his family made (including going up the Ohio River by raft when they moved from Kentucky to Indiana); that time Abe’s father Tom left his son and daughter to run the farm by themselves for three weeks, then came back with a wife and three more (step)children (like, WARN YOUR CHILDREN, at least?); and all the reading he did as a kid (like, so much reading). Reasonably entertaining and educational, but definitely made better by Josh’s various quips (including a few pointed ones like “I thought America didn’t have any problems before Jimmy Carter” and calling one of the books Abe read “the ghostwritten biography of a failed businessman”). XD Always nice to see another one of these!

B) And second up, we had GrayStillPlays and “Testing long cars vs half pipes in GTA 5!” Or, specifically, testing a bunch of the longer cars in the game – including the military rocket truck, the firetruck, the long Hummer, the limo, the oversized sedan, the armored car, and the big arena truck – against a bunch of half-pipe ramp challenges! Each challenge was worth a point, and whoever got the most points, won, as per standard. As for the challenges, we had:

I. A tall, boosted half-pipe ramp that Gray had to zoom down, launch himself off of, then fly his car to the landing area past the highway spaghetti – a LOT of the cars caught on the upturned “launch” area and just went from 200 MPH to dead stop, with Gray once getting insta-spun around. The winner, weirdly enough, was the LIMO, which – despite having an AWFUL time getting on the ramp – actually flew through the air really well and was the only one to actually hit the platform. Nearly went OFF the platform, in fact – fortunately, Gray was able to stop and get the teleporter with just his front wheels hanging off :p

II. A very narrow half-pipe ramp with immovable BMX bikes on it that Gray had to shalom around, before launching himself off the end onto ANOTHER landing area – the limo did its best, but it just didn’t have the maneuverability. That honor went this time to the oversized sedan – though it took MORE than a few tries for it to finally get the perfect run Gray needed to actually launch himself correctly. Plus one instance of Gray flying out of the car, sliding down the ramp, and getting briefly run over by the sedan as it slid down after him before hitting a dark matter bike. XD

III. A little “bridge” of half-pipes – which were both kinda widely spaced and constantly jumping in place – that Gray had to make it across! The sedan kept falling into the cracks between the bouncy half-pipes, so Gray gave the horrible clunky military vehicle a try, figuring it was too long and wide to get swallowed up...and he was right! Earning it its one and only point of the session!

IV. And a series of big old half-pipe jumps in a sort of ramp down from the sky, where Gray basically had to ride the curves and transfer from half-pipe to half-pipe before doing a full loop to get into the pipe that lead to the win. The military truck didn’t have any hope at all here, and the limo just didn’t have the speed necessary to always make the jumps – so the oversized sedan swept in and, after yet another fifty million tries, managed to make it all the way to the bottom, then up the pipe to the win! It was the most beat-up broken car EVER when it got there, but it got there just the same! Important life lesson, that. :p

4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: No check on the queue, sadly – since I got on the computer a bit late this afternoon thanks to traffic, I spent more time catching up with stuff than I expected, and never got around to working on the masterpost, bleh. But I did at least reblog my friend The Satirical Demon’s take on the “word wip meme” I did yesterday, with commentary on his snippet choices (mostly new stuff from the as-yet-unfinished-because-it-refuses-to-work-with-him Chapter 6 – I am already enjoying Columbo bothering Bumby :p). So that’s something.

Aaand once again I'm up later than I intended, so definitely time to head to bed. Just two more days to get through...night all!
