Slightly Grumpy Tuesday

Like, for the most part it was all right, but the PMS is real and made me more annoyed about some things than I really should have been. Managed to avoid making it anyone else's problem, at least, but -- yeah. I'll be very glad when the red curse hits and I can finally get over all this hormonal nonsense. Meeeh.
Anyway -- here's how my day went:
Work – A fairly quiet day at work, with no unexpected computer problems fortunately – I spent most of my day working on a QC file for the next round of thank-yous and putting on the first batch of Easter money we’ve gotten in from the parishes, with occasional breaks to answer the phone (looking up gifts and setting up a non-credit-card pledge for someone) and answer some e-mails (helping make sure the right gifts were matched to the right account). Nothing particularly stressful, which I appreciated. We’ll see what tomorrow brings!
To-Do List –
1. Get in a workout: Check – another night on the bike, pedaling my way through the last of the GrayStillPlays compilation “When you test mobile games to their limits!” The final thirty-odd minutes featured the end of his “looking at one-star mobile games and coming up with a pro and con for each” video (his favorite game was one about being an ant, as it was an actual game, just a shitty one, while his least favorite was a dodgeball-themed endless runner that just made you replay the exact same level over and over), and the entirety of his “I play a bunch of weird games I haven’t played before, moving to the next one each time I die (meaning he barely spent any time at all in Geometry Dash or Level Devil – but a shocking amount of time in EvoWorld, as he proved weirdly adept at not getting snacked on). Fun stuff, as his trips through mobile game purgatory always are. AND it ended just early enough so I could rewatch the Baldur’s Gate III “release of Patch 8” animation to close out the workout – what can I say, I love Shadowheart going immediately mad with power when she realizes she’s now a Death Domain Cleric. And Swen coming in as a badass ranger on a huge swarm of bees. XD Just have to figure out what I’m watching tomorrow, now...
2. Continue editing “Londerland Bloodlines: Downtown Queensland”: Check – as is usual for the chapters in this story, Alice stopped for a chat with Victor before getting on with the business of the night – in this particular instance, catching him stuffing himself on a bag of fun-sized chocolate bars. XD They had a fun little discussion about Alice’s ambivalence toward candy and their favorite desserts (Alice’s was strawberry cake, Victor’s apple pie), which then segued into a somewhat-less-fun discussion of what Alice was expecting at Grout’s. Victor was, uh, startled to learn that Wonderland advised her to bring her shotgun, as you might expect. O.O But yeah, Alice admitted she wasn’t sure WHAT to expect from Grout and his mansion, only that it was sure not to be fun and complaining she was starting to forget what “fun” even was. Trust me, Alice, you haven’t even begun to realize just how unfun these little missions of yours can get...
3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Substitution Check – another Tuesday with nothing in the Subs meant it was of course time for more CaFae Latte by C. M. Alongi! Today’s video was “CaFae Latte Season 43 - TikTok Compilation,” which covered:
I. Husniya having to deal with an entitled bitch mistaking her for an employee while she was shopping at the craft store and chatting over the phone to her mother about making a dress for her preschooler
II. The fairies and Nicole celebrating the pagan holiday Ostara, a time of rebirth and renewal (it’s one of the pagan holidays/deities that got folded into Easter when the Christians arrived) with Nicole’s coven, and JC (after informing Erik of all this) dropping by with snacks and getting conscripted by Nicole into helping the coven paint a fence...which led to JC panic-calling Erik later that night to reveal that they’d just realized they were in proper love with Nicole
III. JC freaking out about whether or not they should TELL Nicole they love her, first at Erik (who was like “I am too tired and too sober and too much a master of the one-night stand for this conversation, go bother Bob – she’s aromantic? Go bother Cyrus then”) and then at Cyrus (who was like “waiting and telling her right away are both good options, I don’t have a great romantic history either thanks to my biromanticism and asexuality – the one guy I had a stable relationship with died – so why don’t you talk to Husniya TOMORROW”)
IV. JC indeed talking with Husniya about when she said “I love you” to her husband, and learning (with Drek, who was chilling out nearby) how she met said husband (a date arranged for them by their parents – he was not into it, she was, and her tearing him down for not even being willing to put in the minimum effort to make the date a decent experience for them both made him fall in love with her), when she said “I love you” (after a party when he kept getting ice cream on his nose), and when he proposed (middle of another argument – she said yes, explaining that if you can argue with someone and STILL want to spend the rest of your life with them, that’s going to be a solid marriage)
V. JC heading to a movie night with Nicole, determined NOT to mention the “I love you” thing just yet because they’re not ready for it...only for it to slip out once they arrived at her place and found her cuddling a ton of yarn she bought on sale; JC ended up standing by it, and Nicole admitted that she wasn’t really “in love” with them, but she was getting there, and she’d tell them the moment it happened <3
VI. Drek, feeling all sorts of confused after the conversation with Husniya the other day, asking Cyrus how he knew he was “biro ace” (biromantic asexual) and what it was like to fall in love and such; Cyrus explained that both were pretty complicated and different for each person (with JC adding in that having a history of self loathing doesn’t help) and elaborated about his one good relationship that ended in his partner’s death (a werewolf named Sean, Patrick’s cousin – delightful guy, weird sense of humor, who ended up going to Korea and coming home in a body bag :( Cyrus was firm that he wouldn’t trade what he got for anything, though)
VII. And a good old-fashioned Karen showing up behind Yarn Granny and Vet Grandpa when they came in for their usual orders, trying to give Husniya shit for being a Muslim woman who observes Ramadan and wears a hijab and everyone just not having it. Don’t expect freedom to look the same for someone else as it does for you, lady!
Lovely stuff as always – I KNEW JC was basically going to say “I love you” by accident to Nicole, but it happening with Nicole hugging a whole bunch of yarn was extra-cute. :D And it was nice to get some more backstory on the pasts of some of the other characters! Filling in those blanks~
4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check and check –
Victor Luvs Alice (N Smiler) – Not only did I get my two “showing off the Sims 4 April Pride SDX update” posts into the queue for tomorrow, I also stuck into my drafts a few posts that I’ve been meaning to reblog but never actually got around to reblogging – a post about helping defend the Internet Archive and Wayback Machine from a lawsuit by some record companies (and how to donate directly to them); a post about how, since Trump’s trying to shut down the American Suicide Hotline, the Canadian one wants everyone to know Americans can call it too and its toll-free (thank you Canada); a post about how someone making fanart for a fic created a domino effect where, not only did they end up influencing the canon of the story, all the friends of the author started getting back into writing in the hopes that they’d create something that someone else wanted to create fanart of (cute :) ); and a collection of screenshotted tweets about writing, including how “thinking vaguely about a concept” counts as writing and how writing fic is all about having one specific scene in mind and having to create everything else around it (this is a mood). Hopefully I can get at least some of them up tomorrow after work!
Valice Multiverse – One reblog on Part II of the “Forgotten Vows!Alice meets Richard and Seth Lewis” thread for the queue, with Seth apologizing to Alice about dredging up bad memories (since they’ve been talking house fires) – Alice assured him that it’s fine, she’s the one dredging, and probably oversharing. She just doesn’t get to talk to people who survived an experience similar to hers often! Which is a good thing, but still. :p
Other: Welp, it’s finally happened – the beanbag game has been broken out again! I’m a little surprised it took this long, but then again, the weather has been incredibly wonky lately. Unfortunately, while we were all kinda rusty, my skills were rustier than most, and I didn’t get a single win. :( Final scores were me 3-2-2; Dad 2-W-W; and Mom W-3-3. We’ll probably play again tomorrow, so hopefully I can redeem myself then!
And now -- bedtime, before I get distracted again. *shakehead* Night all!
