crossover_chick: Victor on the ground with one hand up with the text "Nooo! Anything but the fangirls!" (CB: save Victor from the fangirls!)

Yeah, my concentration wasn't great most of the day, and it has been absolutely SHOT tonight. If my period doesn't start tonight or tomorrow, I am going to be VERY surprised. Bleh. >( Stupid brain-meats, so utterly susceptible to hormone fluctuations... Give me a second to buckle down, and I'll tell you about my day:

Work – A not-great day at work, I have to admit – my morning was spent tracking down gifts that had been put in the wrong spot and updating/creating the records where they SHOULD be posted, and then my afternoon was spent largely trying to figure out why one reversal wasn’t showing up correctly on the GL. It was done the same as all the other reversals! *sigh* And I was doing all this with PMS brain, which didn’t help matters. And I managed to get chocolate on my pants at one point by not noticing I’d dropped a chocolate chip from my granola bar during my afternoon snack. AND I ended up having a shitty ride home because there was apparently a disabled car on the highway for a while – the car had been moved by the time I got there, but traffic was still pretty well backed up for a while! And then, when I finally did get home, I spent so much time bitching to Mom about my day while waiting for Dad to finish watering the plants (and then bitching to HIM a bit afterward about it all too) that there was no time left to play beanbags. I mean, my parents were willing to try, but I ended up having to admit to them that I didn’t think there was going to be enough time to finish three rounds AND start my workout on time. Fortunately they were cool about it. *sigh* Hopefully tomorrow will be better. Or at least a different flavor of shitty.

To-Do List

1. Get in a workout: Check – spent another evening on the bike, pedaling my way through:

A) “Stray But the Cat is Garfield | We React to Stray Ruined by Mods” by OXBox! AKA “Mike agrees to play Stray, one of Ellen’s favorite games, but secretly installs a specific modpack of cursed reskins before starting so he can torment her with them while he plays. Also Andy is there doing horrible Lorenzo Music impressions.” XD This resulted in twenty-three minutes of delicious modded ridiculousness, turning what is usually a very sweet game about a lost kitten ending up helping out a bunch of robots in a mechanical city into The World’s Most Terrible Crossover with the World’s Most Janked-Up Main Kitty. The “stray” of the title was turned into Garfield (complete with melon head and unnaturally-stiff limbs); their fellow kittens became Tom from Tom & Jerry, the Cheshire Cat from Alice In Wonderland (Disney 1951), and CatDog from – well, CatDog; the evil electronic creatures that infest the slums were tiny Thomas The Tank Engines; the kitty’s AI buddy was a very lumpy-textured EVE from WALL*E; and the robot citizens of the city were all various pop-culture robots, including droids from Star Wars, the Iron Giant, C3P0, Bender from Futurama, and Bonnie and Chica from Five Nights At Freddy’s. Ellen was initially horrified at what Mike had done to her beloved game, but soon couldn’t resist cracking up at the sheer nonsense presented to them all on the screen. (Plus she did get a glimpse of her usual beloved kitty during one pre-rendered cutscene Mike couldn’t destroy with his mods, so that probably helped her mood. XD) It was all amazingly and delightfully cursed and I loved it. :P Agree with all the commenters saying that we need “more XYZ Ruined By Mods” videos in the future!

B) “Baldur's Gate 3 - Biggest Changes in Patch 8” by IGN! A look at some of the changes that Patch 8 wrought upon the game – specifically, the addition of cross-play (allowing people on different systems to play multiplayer together); Photo Mode (allowing people to swap into a special mode to take perfectly-staged photos); and the new subclasses (allowing people to customize their various builds even further). Good way to fill in the last eight-or-so minutes of my workout, and to get a look at some of the new stuff in action! :) Photo Mode in particular looks surprisingly fun – hopefully one day I’ll be able to try it out!

2. Continue editing “Londerland Bloodlines: Downtown Queensland”: Check – managed to fight my way through the PMS brain nonsense to get another page edited on this, covering Victor timidly asking Alice (who just complained she was forgetting what “fun” was) if she didn’t have fun with him last night, and Alice hastily walking things back and assuring him she’d enjoyed their night together, and all the other moments they’d had together too; the pair making plans to see a movie together if Alice gets back soon enough; Victor attempting to give Alice some money, but Alice refusing – and being somewhat confused when Victor was like “??? Okay…” about this (she has still not realized he’s loaded); Alice confirming that Victor had gotten his own keycard (so I can have him come and go as he pleases from the main apartment, at least); and Alice finally heading out the door, planning to stop at Fat Larry’s for some more shotgun ammo (now that she knows she apparently needs it) before catching the same cab she always catches. And that leaves us on a scene break, nice. :) Tomorrow – well, hopefully my brain cooperates enough for me to resume edits on the final chapter of “A Murder Shared Is A Murder Thirded!” Kind of like to get that done this week so I can move onto “The Van Dort Vacancy.”

3. Keep up with YouTube Subs: Half-check – as is very typical these days, I got to the YouTubery late, and thus only had time for the GrayStillPlays video: “Lawnmower vs Extreme Half Pipes in GTA 5!” Yes, tonight, it was time for the lawnmower and a selection of other unusual/memey vehicles – including the trike, the police van, the covered transport truck, the firetruck, the multi-mirrored scooter, and the Sherp – to take on a quartet of half-pipe-themed challenges and earn points to see who would reign supreme among the shit! What did they face, and who came out on top? Well, in order, we had –

I. Gray having to get down a giant steep half pipe – and then suddenly do a loop transfer of sorts as, halfway through, the loop “flipped” upside-down (not dynamically, the second half was just oriented upside-down compared to the first), before building up enough speed to make an ENORMOUS jump past the VINEWOOD sign onto the landing area with the checkpoint! As you might imagine, a not-insignificant part of the video was him trying to get past this. XD The lawnmower came SHOCKINGLY close to completing the challenge (when it wasn’t trying to fly away – Gray had a lot of trouble with flying cars due to the steep angle of the challenge), but simply didn’t have the speed to do the jump at the end; the Sherp refused to stop utterly defying gravity on the downward dash; and the trike kept wiping out no matter what Gray tried. But the POLICE VAN, of all vehicles, actually did the challenge and did it well! Who woulda thunk? So yeah, point to the po-po on that one.

II. Gray having to do an enormous tunnel loop made out of two joined half-pipes, going down the bottom and launching himself out the top to land on a specific landing area in front of the VINEWOOD sign. Most of the cars Gray tried had absolutely no climbing capability whatsoever – the scooter in particular was more interested in throwing him off and then murdering him whenever he tried to get to the top – but fortunately, the trike’s speed more than made up for any deficiencies it had in that areas. Granted, it insisted on doing a forward flip to try and kill him every time it fell into the loop, but Gray quickly learned how to stick that landing. And after a few tries and making sure he stayed on the center line, he was finally able to make the jump and pancake himself on the landing strip. XD But that still counted, so that was a point to the trike!

III. Gray having to go down a huge tube made out of various half-pipes, with growing gaps between the segments, before smashing his way through a bunch of plywood barriers near the end in order to reach the checkpoint at the bottom, all in 55 seconds! The trike proved unable to handle the gaps, so Gray gave some of the other cars their due here. The forklift did better than expected, but quickly succumbed to the gaps itself; the Sherp proved able to do it, just not within the time limit thanks to its natural slowness; and the covered transport truck – DID manage to do it within the time limit! Which I did NOT expect, as this thing REALLY liked to roll onto its side in previous challenges due to being rather top-heavy. But it had the weight, it had the speed, and it had the power, and thus it got a point.

IV. Gray having to go down a long-but-gradually-narrowing half-pipe, while dodging the various barriers popping up in his way, again in under 55 seconds! This was a ginormous mess of props stuck together, and slowly-growing walls that Gray had to carefully jump over in such a way that he didn’t actually LEAVE the half-pipe and crash into the roadway on either side. The covered truck proved unable to do it without sliding around on its side; the trike proved unable to do it without leaving the challenge area and crashing into the barriers –

Which left the police van to conquer the challenge and earn itself its second, winning point! Like, seriously, this thing stayed within the bounds of the pipe so smoothly it was unbelievable. Who knew that a VAN would be your best option against cursed half-pipes? Certainly not I!

4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: Check – while I’d HOPED to do some sort of post about how I’d recently realized my Tav!Smiler for BG3 should be a Warlock (at least as their base class), the lack of brain cooperation kinda killed that idea. So I just grabbed some stuff from my drafts and my archive to fill out the week:

A) Thursday – that post I just reblogged from my friend Squid of all those screencapped tweets about the writing mood (like thinking about vague concepts, loving your “son” Untitled Document, and not actually writing)

B) Friday – another post I reblogged from Squid for later, showing a guy pouring a huge bottle of oil over salad, only the bottle is labeled “Overly-detailed and hyper specific AUs that only appeal to me” and the salad is labeled “fandom” (because holy shit is that a “me” post)

C) Saturday – an old Song Saturday from November 2023, featuring what I presume to be a pair of brothers doing a mash-up of various songs to represent what your brain does at 3:59 AM when you can’t get back to sleep (MOOD this week, let me tell you – also the mash-up is a bop)

So at least I’m all good there, yay.

And now I really have to get to bed, because once again it is later than expected. *sigh* Damn PMS brain...wish me luck getting through the day tomorrow, folks! Night all!
