crossover_chick: Doc looking very sarcastically over his shoulder (BTTF: in a sarcastic mood)
[personal profile] crossover_chick
Fortunately I was prepared for it when it showed up this afternoon -- having already put a pad in earlier because I kept getting warning signals from my body re: period. So no clothes ruining, yay. But the hormones did make me feel quite bitchy today, which was not fun. >( As for the day itself:

Work – It was a relatively quiet day in the office – which was good, given I was in the grips of the worst of my PMS and thus easily irritated by things. My personal workload consisted of the following:

A) Running the usual morning reports (along with taking a call from Fiscal about weirdness on one of them – which I didn’t know how to fix – and helping my coworker get the GL sorted)

B) Matching more ID numbers to scans of pledge cards so we could more easily look stuff up on the scanning app, and researching any weirdness I found along the way

C) Merging a duplicate I found and cleaning up some other records while I looked up stuff related to the record that had its name changed the other day (looks like the gifts for a whole family have been going on this one record, which is rather annoying)

D) Doing a few reversals at the end of the day – mostly applying gifts to pledges

Nothing too taxing! Though it was annoying to research some of this stuff, I must admit. And it looks like solving that issue of all the family’s gifts going on one account might have to involve making some new accounts and moving the gifts over there, which will be a pain...I’ll have to talk to my supervisor about it tomorrow. *sigh* One more day!

To-Do List

1. Get in a workout: Check – another night on the bike, another night with the OXBox RE9 LP, as I work(out)ed my way through –

A) The second half of “Let's Play Resident Evil Requiem: SHORTEST HELICOPTER RIDE! BURNING CHURCH! BLOOD GLOBE! Episode 4!” Which featured:

I. Grace exploring what actually turned out to be a quite nice house (I guess it was Dr. Gideon’s personal home on the grounds?) and stumbling across a living room with multiple objects to pick up and fiddle with while hunting for the helicopter key – notably, she was able to free an hourglass from its casing, which resulted in the gang waiting for a surprising amount of time to see if all the sand would fall through the little gap, and if there would be any secrets or achievements revealed as a result. No achievement, but there WAS a secret – “U = 380,000” on the inside of the top chamber! Jane obligingly wrote it down at Andy’s request. There was also a report from some mysterious entity telling Dr. Gideon “We’re happy that your experiment has reached Phase 4, but also your evil Care Center has been open a while and we’d like some results, especially regarding Elpis, so could you get a move on? We’ve managed to extend the deadline until 2040, but seriously” (I mean, it didn’t say it quite like that, but that was the gist :p) and a weird console/old-timey radio thing that, when fiddled with, revealed a metal sculpture of a strand of DNA with a chunk missing out of the middle! Andy attempted to fill it with the hourglass, but it just didn’t fit. Shame.

II. Grace discovering the missing chunk of DNA sculpture hidden in a fake bottle of Dimitrescu (aka Lady D from Resident Evil Village) wine (prompting the OXBoxers to wonder if she and her family had been mixed up in Dr. Gideon’s whole business) and fitting it into the gap – triggering the entire floor to start descending! Comparisons were immediately made to the famous “stretching room” at the start of Disney’s Haunted Mansion ride, with Andy happily quoting the narrator ghost a couple of times. Eventually, the surprise elevator stopped, and Grace found herself descending into yet another Secret Evil Lab –

This one with a giant blood globe, as per the title of the episode! A blood globe that was connected to many, many zombie-filled tanks via thick hoses. None of the OXBoxers approved of this nonsense at all, and Andy distracted everyone from it by having Jane talk about the time she accidentally “leaked” that Leon Kennedy was going to be in this game before his official reveal (what happened was, she was talking about how good this game’s engine – which had been used for other games – made things look, resulting in her waxing rhapsodical about how awesome Leon’s hair would look in it. And someone mistook that for her talking about a sneak peek she got of Leon being in the game, and a few news outlets reported it as an exclusive leak. Jane was incredulous that anyone would think her a good source of secret game information, though she was amused by the idea of the devs panicking and trying to figure out what she knew behind the scenes).

III. Grace making her way through the facility and discovering a couple of offices (well, the first room was more of a storage facility with a desk shoved in it) – the first of which had a report on an analysis done on her blood (her genetic information apparently matched some specified data perfectly, though nobody could make heads or tails out of what it all meant yet...I think we can assume Grace is a superweapon of some kind though), and the second of which had the helicopter key in it! Grace grabbed that, then used the computer to deactivate some door locks so she could get back to the helicopter and its soon-to-be-unfortunate pilot faster –

Only to nearly run into Dr. Gideon in the very next room, talking on the phone to “Zeno” about how Grace was the one that they’d been searching for, and that soon Elpis would be in their hands (Jane, pretending to be Gideon: “Have I lost her? Yes, I have lost her, she is gone…” XD). Fortunately, he was sufficiently distracted by his conversation that Grace was able to hide behind some of the zombie blood tanks and escape his notice –

Unfortunately, after hanging up and cackling about how he’d done it, Dr. Gideon activated the lab’s self-destruct system before striding out into the night. Forcing Grace to deal with not only a bunch of freed zombies (fortunately the lab had a number of weird “fire extinguisher” things that sprayed out I guess a gaseous form of the stuff that’s in the hemolytic injector, as it made the zombies pop like when they were stabbed with that – Andy wished the YouTube monetization good luck with THAT sequence), but also a rising blood tide from all the hoses popping off the blood globe and gushing blood everywhere and the globe itself being smashed by a bit of falling ceiling (Jane noted that normally Resident Evil games saved wrecking the lab for the end of the game, not barely near the middle). Fortunately she was able to get past all the zombies, trudge her way up the stairs through all the blood, and escape via climbing up a ladder to a door up the hill behind the house, but she did end up looking like she was starring in Carrie again. “Why does this shit keep happening?” she complained during her climb – because you’re a Resident Evil protagonist, Grace.

IV. Grace making it back to the helicopter with the key, tossing it to Harry the Helicopter Guy, and scrambling to get in next to Emily as zombies started swarming the helipad...only for Harry to demand she come sit with him up front as the zombies began jumping on the helicopter itself. Despite the zombies smashing their heads against the windscreen and clinging to the helicopter, making it a bit wobbly, Harry did manage to get the bird into the air –

And then one of the zombies managed to actually break the windscreen and attack him, distracting him from actually flying the helicopter. Cue the titular “shortest helicopter ride” as Grace grabbed the stick in front of her and pulled up, only to send them skidding across a church roof before crashing down into the yard behind it. Leading to Harry getting impaled by a giant tree limb before we could see if he was lying about having an old war wound or if he had an infected zombie bite. *salutes* Rest in peace with all the other Unlucky RE Helicopter Pilots, sir! Though, unfortunately, Emily got hurt in the crash too…

V. The action switching back to Leon in Dr. Gideon’s secret office, looking at the redacted file on Elpis and the picture of Grace and wondering what she had to do with this...right as the crashing helicopter flew by his window (the OXBoxers were deeply amused by the comedic timing of it all). Leon, seeing the crash, grabbed a convenient sniper rifle Dr. Gideon had left in his office, smashed out the window with it, and used the scope to confirm that it was Grace in the helicopter. She pulled Emily from the wreckage as he watched, then began stumbling around the flaming wreckage and zombie-filled grounds, looking for a safe place to go –

Prompting a sniper section where Leon bounded along the rooftop and between top-level rooms, taking potshots at all the zombies trying to attack her and Emily! (And occasionally exploding them with canisters of explosive gas, proving that Grace and Emily were explosion-resistant – jokes were made about that being what Dr. Gideon was so excited about before. To be fair, that WOULD be a hell of a thing to engineer into a human!) And then, when Grace finally managed to safely seek sanctuary in the church they’d more or less crashed into (Leon quipped “Must be time for the evening services,” which everyone was very happy about), he followed up by doing a cool parkour slide down the roofs below him before landing on a zombie and smashing its head (Andy accused it of being a Super Mario-style move). Because this is fucking Leon we’re talking about. XD

VI. Leon clearing the last of the zombies directly outside the church with more bullets and explosions, then hurrying inside to catch up with Grace again (who was trying desperately to stop Emily’s bleeding) – he got pretty much one minute to reassure her that everything would be okay and to point out the nearby door that lead to the water treatment plant as their potential escape route –

Aaand then a bunch more zombies broke into the church, including one big boy with obvious big glowing weak spots, and Leon told Grace to get Emily to safety and that he’d catch up after dealing with their “friends” here. Because they’re not allowed to actually properly team up thanks to being in different RE genres. Poor Grace – she could use a roundhouse-kicking badass like Leon on her side most definitely!

VII. Leon thus having a boss fight with the big boy (who Jane joked was the vicar returning to his church) and his zombie minions, which didn’t go perhaps entirely according to plan – a zombie managed to sneak up on Leon and get him in the shoulder with an axe while he was busy bursting the big boy’s weak points (though Mike was surprised it didn’t just bounce off given how tight Leon’s shirt was); Leon accidentally exploded himself while exploding some zombies up on a high ledge (and then got smacked around by the big boy); and Leon nearly got charged by the big boy because Andy thought the lead-up animation was a death animation. But he bested the big boy in the end, mopped up all the remaining zombies, then prepared to follow Grace down into the water treatment plant (after a long brooding look down the stairs…)

Where, after another character swap, Grace was running around trying to figure out how to get to the surface! Unfortunately, all she found was a dead end room at the end of a catwalk...and The Girl, who’d apparently recovered from having her hand sliced off and was now crawling around in the plant. Cue Grace putting Emily down on some random metal bits to rest while she figured out how to deal with the problem, and Andy saving and ending the episode after discovering some paperwork stating that, if she wanted to open up the roof hatch (thus exposing The Girl to dangerous light and hopefully providing her and Emily safe passage out), she was going to have to find and restart the three power distribution units around the place…

B) And the first six minutes of “Let's Play Resident Evil Requiem: RACCOON CITY! GIANT SPIDER! FAMILIAR JERKASS? Episode 5!” Featuring Grace running around the treatment plant trying to restart those power distributors while also avoiding The Girl – which, uh, Andy proved not to be very good at. Grace got chomped MULTIPLE times trying to find the power distributors, mostly because Andy kept maneuvering her into situations where she was cornered by The Girl and had to shove her way past her to get to where she was going. Fortunately the power of a big old spotlight and Requiem (which he was smart enough to take with him for this bit) allowed him to finally get one of the power distributors back on (by tapping (A) a lot) and chase away the girl with the power of electric light. We’ll see how the rest of it goes tomorrow!

2. Continue edits on Chapter 5 of “The Van Dort Vacancy”: Check – got through another page today, which covered –

A) Kasimir falling on his bad knee after hooking his foot in one of the tiny cracks between the mosaic tiles, much like Victor did earlier – Smiler hurried forward to try and catch him, but unfortunately just got dragged down with him. Ouch. :( Victor and Smiler did their best to help him up afterward, at least, while Kasimir complained that Victor’s parents didn’t need all these traps in the hallway – they just needed to wait for potential thieves to trip and then tackle them. XD Victor had to admit, there was something to that. :p

B) Victor asking Kasimir if he was all right, and Kasimir stating that landing on his knee had hurt and that he was going to need a minute (while sitting down and stretching it) – cue Barnaby declaring that what Kasimir needed was a drink and offering him the gin, saying that it always made him feel better after a spill. Alice noted that was at least somewhat ironic, given that she was certain alcohol was responsible for most of Barnaby’s spills – Barnaby quipped that they did say the best remedy for that was “the hair of the dog,” causing Alice to go “that’s for hangovers, not falling over” –

And causing Barnaby to reveal he didn’t know what a hangover was. Smiler explained to him that it was a headache caused by stopping drinking, and Barnaby laughed and said that he never stopped drinking. Alice noted that he had to sleep at some point, but Barnaby cheerfully told her that he’d woken up at his personal bar plenty of times, having sleepwalked there and made himself a drink. Apparently he can mix a fine martini while unconscious! XD I want to stress that none of the hangover stuff was in the original draft – it just sort of happened. XD

C) And Victor telling the others that they might want to keep it down – Barnaby and Kasimir noted that the guards weren’t waking up anytime soon, and no one had discovered them yet, but Victor explained he wasn’t worried about the guards

Just in time for a panel on the wall to slide away, revealing a Hull by the name of Slugs. So dubbed because he had two slugger rifles welded into his fists. Intended for use on intruders. Which he had just detected. Whoops. Tomorrow, the gang deals with the ghost-driven robot now ready to shoot them for their crimes! Exciting!

3. Watch something on YouTube: I suppose technical check, as I did watch some “research” stuff to keep character voices consistent in “The Van Dort Vacancy” – some clips of Barnaby and Kasimir from “The First Flight of The Sparrowhawk” that CaitlinRC had kindly compiled, and a clip of Victor practicing his vows in the woods. But nothing beyond that – certainly nothing just for fun! Meeeh...at least with a long weekend coming up I should have a BIT more time for that!

4. Get my tumblr queues sorted: No check – I’d intended to see if I could fill out the Victor Luvs Alice (N Smiler) queue, but then I ran into some weird difficulties talking to my friend Squid on Discord (apparently there was some sort of behind-the-scenes refresh and NoScript started blocking something the page needed to function – took me a while to figure it out!) and that kind of took over the rest of my night. *sigh* Well, I’m good for tomorrow, at least – I’ll see if I can figure out Friday and Saturday later!

...yeah, not my best showing, but between the period and the weirdness with Discord... Meh. I'm heading to bed. Night all!
