I'VE GOT IT
Sep. 23rd, 2005 11:03 pm*dances to Nightlife music* Yes! It's here! I bought it! Mom took me over to Wal-Mart today -- cost me about 30 bucks, which was nice. :) It has installed without a hitch and I was able to play through a day with my first Pleasure-Seeker Sim, Ariana Roase (pronounced like "roast").
-OD: Well, that certainly sounds interesting.-
Yes, yes it is. First impressions:
-->The box has changed! Instead of a cardbox box with a plastic CD case inside, the box ITSELF is the CD case. Tad annoying, as they stacked the disks on top of each other. . .
-->Game runs just as it always did -- I really gotta start thinking of upgrading, the darn thing lags if a Sim opens the fridge.
-->As Ariana's a girl, I only got to see the new clothes for girls -- but damn, they have some great stuff! I've already found some dresses I'd like to get for Holly in the near future (and trust me, they can afford it).
-->Community lots -- bad lag, unfortunately, although that may have been related to the fact that Ariana's first trip was in a group. Things got better when she exited the group. Hmmm.
-->Downtown does look WICKED cool. Looking forward to searching all the lots and stuff with my Sims.
-->Cars rock and that's all there is to it.
-H: So, what happened with Ariana, anyway?-
Well, I created Ari in CAS -- she's a Pleasure Seeker Sim who's lifetime want is to have 50 First Dates. Her Turn-Ons are Cologne and Vampirism, her Turn-Off Full Face Makeup (face paint). I created a small lot for her to live on and built her a colorful house with garage and car.

After making sure she had all the essentials (and giving her fingers and a reflection), I let Ariana play with the dart board. Mysteria happened to wander by -- I had Ari greet her and chat. They got along pretty well.

Ariana then said goodbye to Mysteria and looked for a job -- her wants were to get either a Criminal, Culinary, or Slacker job. The Slacker one was available, so Ari grabbed that.
About that time, the Welcome Wagon came along -- Ophelia Nigmos, Johnny Smith, and Henry Hardname. I had Ari focus on Henry while Ophelia and Johnny fell in love again and played darts.

Ari and Henry made friends over chess -- then as Ari really needed to go to the bathroom, I had her shoo everyone. The Gypsy Matchmaker (who's name is LISA, of all things) showed up -- Ari briefly greeted her and sent her on her way. After a pee and a shower, Ari was going to chill -- but then Henry called, inviting her downtown. I couldn't pass that up. So, despite being hungry and tired, Ariana chose the Crypt O'Night Club as their destination, and got in her clunker car and drove away.

A short while later, out came Ariana arrived, with Henry in tow. However, Henry had decided to bring along a few friends -- Gypsy Lloyd, Adelaide Smyth, and Jim Hardname. (Incidentally, my mouse pointer disengaged while they were all getting out of the car -- FRUSTRATING!)

After a bit of lag, I got Ariana to talk to Gypsy -- they didn't hit it off. I decided to have Ari get some food in her stomach instead and had her contact a hostess. The group tagged along, although Gypsy, Adelaide, and Jim ended up sitting outside -- and to my knowledge, got no food.

Ari and Henry, though, were able to order (though it was a tad tricky -- you have to click on the waiter to both order and to finish ordering) -- Ari had ribs, Henry some dessert thingy. Cost Ari 68 Simoleons.

After paying, Ari got to know Jim (I wanted her to know all the people Henry had brought along) then left the group, as she was tired and needed to go home. I did let her stop in the photo booth for some goofy pics (it was a want, they have interesting wants now -- play on the couch, take pictures, drink juice):

Then it was home, bed, and save.
-OD: Sounds like a nice night on the town. *tentacles nodnod*-
Yeah, just a bit annoyed about the lag. Oh well -- shouldn't be as bad with just a date instead of a group.
I also popped over to Twin Oaks Park to see about the Von Brauns -- first though, I had to try the neighborhood Day/Night toggle.

Emmett's original Turn-Ons were Face Paint and Formalwear, his Turn-Off Vampirism.
-TD: Face paint? I mean, I can understand Formalwear to a degree, but face paint?-
Well, I used the Porta-Chug that you get with previously made Sims and changed them to: Turn-Ons Glasses and Makeup, Turn-Off Stink.

-D: Makeup?-
Well, I wanted to make Jill fit one. . . .
-VD: *rolls eyes* We'd complain, but let's face it, it's accurate.-
Holly's Turn-Ons were Fatness and Glasses, her Turn-Off Cologne.
-H: O.o Fatness? Nuh-uh, I like 'em the other way around.-
Heh. After a deage, she chugged her potion and got Black Hair and Vampirism as Turn-Ons -- I left the Turn-Off since I couldn't think of anything better. Black Hair lets her have something with John right away -- I'll have them start dating now.
-H: Yay :D-
Also have Emmett and Jill attend their single date. And of course more dating with other couples -- Marty and Jennifer (both Strangetown and Hill Valley), Mystie and Doc, Clara and Doc, Agatha and Gil, Otto and Rosie. This is gonna be fun. :D There's a nice side effect too -- my current Sims have had their needs reset, so I basically can scootch in a few hours extra with them. Emmett and Holly had a pool game.

If you look closely, you may notice she's reflecting in the mirror -- I turned reflections on. However, I may be turning it back off to reduce the strain on my video card. Ah well, it was nice to see.
One final note on Emmett and Holly -- they have a sports car.

-TD: Hey, that's pretty cool.-
I know -- I had to get the flame design. However, the minute someone mods a DeLorean, I'm getting that.
-VD2: I have to take it that you didn't get much done writing-wise.-
Sowwy. Tomorrow, I promise.
-VM: It's okay. You did write during the slow bits in your journal.-
Heh, yeah. I'll send more chapters out and stuff. Sleep now, though.
-OD: Well, that certainly sounds interesting.-
