As Per Before I Got Nightlife

crossover_chickI'm taking a week's break from Sims. This serves a couple of purposes:
a) It allows me to get a backup made of all my Simmies
b) It ensures that the first house I can play once I do get Open For Business is Emmett Von Braun's -- I was at the end of a cycle in Twin Oaks Park
-M: Sounds good to me.-
-TD: How are you doing the backup? The "piecemeal" way, or the "clearing out snapshots" way?-
Probably piecemeal -- I suppose it can't be that hard to sew the files back together quickly in case of emergency. I'll copy most of the folders and my one premade neighborhood (Strangetown) to one disk, and Twin Oaks Park and Hill Valley to another. That'll work, right?
-D: It should. Though at the rate you play, eventually you will have to do something about the snapshots -- I suspect N003 will need it's own disk.-
Yeah, I know -- even now, the pictures load a little slower. I just hate giving up pictures.
-OD: I'm sure you'll get over that little handicap soon enough.-
We'll see. In the meantime, I'll be working on fan fiction and thinking about how to inform the parents that there's a new Sims 2 expansion pack coming out.
-VM: . . . You haven't told them yet?-
They don't get Sims! I mean, they're okay that I play it, but they don't get it personally! *ponders* Maybe I should make a bookshop of sorts and show it to them. . . .
-TD: *interested* Could you sell books?-
BookSHELVES, at any rate. I dunno about individual books. But the concept would be pretty similar. I've actually got a couple of store ideas. . . .
-VD2: Do tell?-

-->Doc and George will probably set up an electronics business together -- no ideas for names yet. I'll probably have Clara work for them.
-->Ariana is of course going to get in on the action -- I'm thinking a home toy shop, then moving up to a nightclub or something similar.
-->Agatha and Gil, once they return, will also sell hand-crafted items. "Castle Heterobach -- your leading name in craftables"

-->"DocBots," naturally! I'll have Doc start it as a home business at first, to get up his talent badges, then he'll buy a community lot and set up an electronics/clock store. I may even have Marty work for him.
-->I know there will be another business here, I'm just not sure who or what yet. Perhaps this is where I'll build the bookstore -- and have April run it downtown?

-->Now tell me, how could I resist "Statler Motors?" Yes, I'll be making a Statler Sim and motherloading the heck out of him so he can buy and create a car lot.
-->Doc of course will set up his home business "E. Brown Enterprises," selling electronics.

Oh yes. Once I get the Prima Guide, I'll probably come up with a few more definite ideas.
-M2: You're getting the Prima guide? You never got it for University or Nightlife.-
Eh -- I got a lot of info on those online, and Nightlife at least had some origins in Hot Date for original Sims. Open For Business is almost totally new (except for the crafting benches, we've had those) and looks fairly complicated -- I think I'll want the guide. Plus it has some nice tables in the back it looks like.
-D: *shrug* Your money. Just don't spend it all on Sims and then whine about Girl Genius.-

annechen67). And besides, I'm going to be sure to try and get both at Wal-Mart. Cheaper that way.
Off to write a bit more and perhaps liberate a plot bunny on GG FanFic group.
