Yup, Life is at last complete!

Some minor spoilers about where Doc ends up in life -- nothing major at all, and if you read my LJ regularly, you know most of this already.

51. Life
“How’s that carburetor coming?”
Martina smiled over at her dad. “I think I’ve finally got that problem licked.” She stood up and wiped her hands on a rag. “Thanks for letting me work on the DeLorean with you.”
“Anytime, Tina,” Doc smiled. “I know how much you love cars.”
Susan suddenly stormed into the garage, looking annoyed. “Dad, Jules is being a brat again!”
“No, Susie is!”Jules protested, running in after her. “She won’t let me watch cartoons!”
“I have to see ‘Extreme Makeover!’ Amy told me they put the girl through hell!”
“Ah ah ah, you said a bad word!”
“I’m fourteen, I’m allowed to say bad words.”
“Not around your brother,” Doc cut in. “Now look, you both know the VCR can tape one show while you’re watching another. Just flip a coin if you can’t decide.”
“Susie’ll cheat,” Jules said, glaring at his sister.
“Yeah, like you’d play fair if you did the toss,” Susan shot back.
“Oh, here, I’ll flip,” Martina said, rolling her eyes. “You two are just like cats and dogs sometimes.”
“Nuh-uh,” Jules protested. “Oswald and Darwin get along just fine.”
“Well, regular cats and dogs.” She led her siblings into the house to find some change.
Doc sighed, leaning on his workbench. “Some days I wonder what Gypsy and I were thinking, having three kids.”
At least you had time to breathe between them.
Doc chuckled. The twins up to mischief again?
They keep digging up the backyard looking for bugs. It’s driving Jennifer nuts. I mean, it wouldn’t be so bad if it were just a few small holes, but Douglas and Marlene are like little steamshovels! Doc thought he felt Marty shake his head. You shouldn’t have told them about your adventure to the center of the earth. I think it inspired them.
My apologies. I’m sure they’ll grow out of it soon enough.
Not soon enough for us.
Gypsy appeared in the doorway, noting with a smile the faraway look on her husband’s face. “Another chat with Marty?”
Doc blinked, then smiled back. “Yes, exchanging child troubles. Susan and Jules were arguing over the TV earlier.”
“Again?” Gypsy rolled her eyes. “The eternal power struggle between older and younger. . . .”
“Makes me glad Emily was such a sweetheart to me. Though, really, she did have her moments.” Doc got up and put an arm around his wife. “You know, whenever I pictured my life in the future, I didn’t see myself talking to my wife about two of our three kids. I always thought I’d end my days as a bachelor.”
Gypsy kissed him. “Glad to have been proven wrong?”
“Yeah.”
“MOM! DAD! JULES SPILLED CHOCOLATE MILK ALL OVER THE COUCH!”
“. . .Most of the time.”

-D: Ahh, average day fluff. I like.-
-M: Argumentative kids, though.-
Susan and Jules are just having an off day. Plus, Susan is 14 in this particular piece. . . .
-VD: *frown* Who are Oswald and Darwin?-
The successors to Sigmund and Einstein, respectively. This story takes place in 2007, so I figured both pets have probably gone onto better things. Oswald is named for Ian Oswald, a sleep researcher, while Darwin is obviously named for Charles Darwin.
-VD2: *to Doc* Gypsy shares our naming habits, huh?-
-D: *grin* She does. Also my tendency to use big words when emotional -- it's very hard to argue, because half the time we don't know what we're saying.-
*chuckle* Yeah, my fault.
-VuM: "Martina" rears her head again. Not that I'm complaining, mind you.-
I didn't think you were. Most fanfic authors have Emily, I have Martina. It's my way of twisting the cliche.
-TD: So where's Susan Carla from? I mean, Martina Clara is obvious, as is Jules Verne, but Susan Carla?-
Carla is just a twist on Clara, but I'm POSITIVE Susan is the name of a female psychiatrist or psychologist -- I just can't find her again! *grr*
-D: *patpat* Well, I certainly don't mind having a Susan around.-
-TD: Pretty name, I was just wondering where it came from.-
Well, it is the name of someone in Gypsy's field -- I'll let you know if I can ever track a Susan down.

We also have a

revison_doc update, though it's nothing special. Incidentally, the reason there's a picture of Delilah and Edwin is because I was helping SuperFly test out his new and improved Time Travelling Major. Looks like it works at last, hallelujah.

Let me finish up with Narbonics and one more downtown lot -- I want to make this Doc and Marty as screen-accurate as I can.

Planning out a cutsie drawing. I AM going to finish the sprites this century. I think my big pitfall was posting the doodletoons. To my mind, that equals doneness. Doesn't help about my
"Alice" obsession.
-DW: Yes, we're a little concerned about you looking at Alice/Mad Hatter fanart.-
Don't worry -- it's almost all from a girl named bri-chan, and her Alice has been stated to be of legal age. Though yes, it is rather odd when you consider the original Alice was supposed to be seven. (And really, it's not the worst pairing -- I see a fair amount of Alice/Cheshire!

-VDM: You know she's really only doing this to get a new fix of Victorian clothing AND thinking up more "Doc/Victoria embarrasment" moments.-
